Buying men's wear in Bangladesh

Men's bottoms are volume lines: chinos, cargos, jeans, shorts and joggers in twill, denim and fleece, sized by waist and inseam. Suits and blazers are a more technical line, often in imported suiting. Importers and retailers buy both, and companies in Bangladesh order trousers and blazers for staff. A men's wear manufacturer in Bangladesh is chosen by process: denim needs a laundry, tailoring needs fusing presses.

Men's wear we source

Chinos

Flat-front trousers in cotton twill, often with a little elastane, dyed as fabric or as finished garments. Garment dyeing gives a soft, lived-in look but shrinks the garment and varies more in shade, so the pattern carries an allowance and a shade band is agreed.

Cargo trousers

Loose or tapered trousers with bellows side pockets and flaps, in twill or ripstop, a fabric woven with a grid of stronger yarns that stops tears spreading. Count pockets and flaps per style when comparing quotes.

Denim jeans

Name the fit (slim, straight, tapered or relaxed), the rise, denim weight and stretch, and approve a wash standard with a shade band. Laser and ozone finishing can replace much abrasion and chemical spraying, using less water; ask which methods the laundry uses.

Shorts

Usually cut from the long styles' patterns and fabrics, which keeps sampling short and shades matched. State the inseam, for example 7 or 9 inches. Shorts use less fabric but the same trims and set-up, so the price does not fall in line.

Suits and blazers

Jackets and trousers in wool, wool blends or polyester-viscose. A fused front bonds the interlining with heat and costs less; half-canvas adds a floating canvas in the chest and lapel and holds its shape longer. Cut both pieces from one fabric lot.

Joggers

Knit joggers in fleece or French terry, or woven joggers in stretch twill, with an elastic or drawcord waist and cuffed hems. Knit fabric is bought by weight, so GSM sets much of the price; ask for pilling and shrinkage results.

How to brief a men's wear manufacturer in Bangladesh

Waist and inseam grid
Sizes by waist and inseam, for example 30 to 40 waist with 30, 32 and 34 inseams, and the quantity per cell. Each waist and inseam pair is a separate item to stock.
Fit and tolerances
Rise, seat, thigh, knee and hem with tolerances, approved on a base size such as a 32 waist. Washing changes fit, so measurements are checked after washing.
Fabric and shrinkage
Composition, weave and weight: twill in GSM, denim in oz per square yard, suiting by fibre and weight. State stretch and the shrinkage you accept, since it sets pattern allowances.
Wash and shade
The wash recipe (rinse, enzyme, stone, bleach, tint or garment dye), a signed wash standard, a shade band and a leg twist limit, since side seams can turn to the front after washing.
Hardware and stress points
Shank buttons, rivets and zips by metal and finish; bartacks, short reinforcing stitches, at pocket corners, fly and belt loops, where trousers take strain.
Tailoring details
Fused or half-canvas front, lining, shoulder pads and drop, the difference between jacket chest and trouser waist: a drop 6 suit pairs a 40 jacket with 34 trousers.

Tests and standards for trousers, jeans and suits

ISO 13935-2 and ISO 13936
Seam strength by the grab method and seam slippage, on seat, crotch and side seams, which take the most strain in trousers. State the minimum in newtons.
ASTM D3107
Stretch, growth and recovery of fabrics woven from stretch yarns: it shows whether stretch chinos and denim recover or bag at the knee.
EN 1811 and REACH
Nickel release from rivets, shank buttons and zips in prolonged skin contact, limited under REACH to 0.5 µg/cm² per week for the EU. Ask for a report on each plated part.
Wool labelling
Regulation (EU) 1007/2011 and the US Wool Products Labeling Act set how wool content is named, so test suiting blends before labels are printed.

What moves the price of men's trousers and suits

  • Fabric: denim weight, stretch and twill quality; wool suiting costs far more than polyester-viscose.
  • Wash: each step, such as enzyme, stone, bleach, laser, ozone or tint, adds cost, time and rejects.
  • Pockets and trims: cargo pockets, flaps, bartacks, custom rivets, shank buttons and branded zips each add a line.
  • Size grid: many waist and inseam pairs split one colour into short runs.
  • Tailoring: half-canvas fronts, full linings and extra pressing cost more than fused construction.

Lead times and delivery

Typical ranges: a first sample takes two to three weeks and a new wash standard one to two weeks more. Bulk usually runs 60 to 90 days from fit and wash approval for chinos, jeans, shorts and joggers; suits in imported fabric and special washes take longer, and laundry capacity is booked ahead. Questions buyers ask

What is a wash standard and why does it matter?

It is the approved sample of the finished wash, with a shade band showing the lightest and darkest acceptable pieces. Bulk is checked against it at inspection, so it settles colour disputes before shipment. Without one, two quotes for the same jeans can hide different washes.

What is the difference between chinos and cargo trousers?

Chinos are smart casual: a flat front, slant pockets and a clean leg in lighter twill. Cargo trousers are casual or work trousers with bellows pockets on the legs, in heavier twill or ripstop. Chinos suit offices and retail basics; cargos suit outdoor, work and streetwear ranges.

Fused or half-canvas: which suit construction should I choose?

Fused suits bond the interlining to the front with heat: quicker and lower in cost, but the front can bubble if the fusing fails. Half-canvas adds a floating canvas in the chest and lapel that holds shape and drapes better, at a higher cost and a longer lead time. Test the fusing bond after the care method either way.

What is the minimum order for chinos or jeans?

It is set per style, colour and wash, then spread over the waist and inseam grid. On stock fabric, factories often accept a few hundred pieces per style and colour; large denim units usually ask for more, and a custom wash or dyed-to-order fabric raises it. The quote states each minimum.

What mistakes do first-time men's wear buyers make?

Ordering every waist and inseam without a size ratio, so stock sits in odd sizes. Approving denim without a wash standard and shade band. Choosing stretch fabric without a recovery test, so knees bag. And comparing suit prices without knowing whether the front is fused or canvassed.

How soon will I hear back about men's wear?
