Rotary screw units for plants running shifts all day, oil-injected for general air, at fixed or variable speed. Choose variable speed where demand swings through the day, and compare specific power, kW per m³/min, at the same pressure.

Piston compressors

Reciprocating units for garages, workshops and small plants with stop-start demand; two-stage units reach higher pressures. Lower in price and simple to repair, but noisier and not built to run all day, so keep within the maker's duty cycle.

Oil free compressors

Dry screw, scroll or water-injected units with no oil in the compression chamber, for pharmaceutical, food, drinks, electronics and medical air, where even filtered traces of oil are a risk. Ask for certification to ISO 8573-1 Class 0 for oil; they cost more to buy and service.

Air dryers

Remove the water that humid air brings in, which rusts pipes and spoils tools and products. Refrigerated dryers give a pressure dew point near 3 °C for general use; desiccant dryers reach minus 40 °C for instruments, paint and pharmaceutical lines.

Air receivers

Pressure vessels that store air, steady the pressure, cut compressor starts and let condensate settle. Ask for the design code, design pressure, hydrostatic test certificate, a safety valve and an automatic drain.

Air and oil filters, separator elements, oil, valves, belts, drains and air end overhauls for running machines. Send the nameplate and running hours; the quote states plainly whether parts are genuine or equivalent.

What to tell an air compressor supplier in Bangladesh

Air demand and pattern: Demand as free air in m³/min, l/s or cfm (1 m³/min is about 35 cfm), peak and average, and whether it varies through the day. Logging your existing system for a week sizes it on real use.
Pressure: Pressure at the point of use plus pipe losses, in bar; compressors are usually set around 7 to 8 bar. Each extra bar adds roughly 7 percent to power use, so do not overstate it.
Air quality: The ISO 8573-1 class for particles, water and oil, for example Class 0 for oil where air touches food or medicines. Say whether air touches your product.
Room and ambient: Room temperature in summer and ventilation; a hot, closed room makes a compressor trip and derates the dryer. Ask for the unit's maximum ambient rating and dryer capacity corrected to your inlet temperature.
Condensate: Humid air makes a lot of water. Route oily condensate through an oil-water separator, as ECR 2023 limits oil and grease in discharges, and fit automatic drains on receiver and filters.
Power supply: Three phase, 50 Hz, the voltage swings you see, whether a generator feeds it and the starter type. Ask for phase failure and voltage protection, and an IE3 or better motor.
Existing system and piping: Existing compressors, dryer, receiver, pipe sizes and known leaks; fixing leaks and pressure drop can cost less than a larger compressor. In textile mills, ask for lint pre-filters and a cooler you can reach for cleaning.

Standards and test papers for compressed air

ISO 1217: Performance test for displacement compressors. Ask for free air delivery (FAD) and power measured to it at your working pressure, so quotes compare fairly.
ISO 8573-1: Purity classes for particles, water and oil, written as three numbers. State the class you need and ask how the dryer and filters reach it.
ISO 7183: Specification and testing of compressed air dryers. Ask for capacity at reference conditions and the correction for your hotter inlet air.
ASME Section VIII or EN 13445: Pressure vessel codes for air receivers. Ask for the code, design pressure, hydrostatic test certificate (a pressure test with water) and safety valve setting for the vessel's serial.
IEC 60034-30-1: Efficiency classes for electric motors, IE1 upwards. Ask for IE3 or better on compressors that run long hours.

Should I choose a screw or a piston compressor?

Screw for continuous demand, as in factories running shifts: quieter and built for long duty. Piston for workshops and small units that use air in short bursts; it costs less but is louder and not built to run all day. If you run more than one shift, a screw compressor usually costs less over its life.

Do I need an air dryer in Bangladesh?

Almost always. Humid air carries water that condenses in pipes, tools and products as the air cools. A refrigerated dryer, with a pressure dew point near 3 °C, suits general use; a desiccant dryer at minus 40 °C suits instruments, paint and pharmaceutical lines. Size it for your hot inlet air, not reference conditions.
