Factories need effluent treatment plants to meet the Department of Environment's discharge standards, and buildings, hospitals and housing projects need sewage treatment. Bangladeshi contractors design, build and commission these plants, and suppliers stock the media, membranes and equipment that go into them.
Roptan asks for the design basis and the discharge standard the plant must meet, checks the contractor's licence and installation record, and gets warranty and service terms in writing. We visit a working installation before recommending a contractor.
