Home textiles we source

Bath towels

Loop-pile terry in ring-spun, combed or zero-twist cotton, sold by size and weight; heavier towels feel fuller but dry more slowly. Specify size (70 x 140 cm is common), GSM, pile yarn and border, and ask for absorbency to ASTM D4772.

Bed sheets

Flat and fitted sheets in cotton or polyester-cotton. Percale is a crisp plain weave; sateen is smoother with a sheen. Specify thread count to ASTM D3775, weave, sizes for your market and the fitted sheet pocket depth.

Duvet covers

Covers in percale, sateen or printed cotton. UK, EU and US duvet sizes differ, so give the finished size in centimetres, not only 'double' or 'king', plus closure and shrinkage after washing so the cover still fits.

Kitchen towels

Tea towels and kitchen cloths in cotton, linen or blends. Waffle and plain weaves dry dishes with little lint; terry absorbs more. Specify weave, GSM, size and loop; for prints or yarn-dyed checks, ask for fastness to washing and rubbing.

Terry bathrobes

Terry robes absorb like a towel; waffle robes are lighter and dry fast; velour has its loops sheared for a smooth face. Specify GSM, shawl or kimono collar, sizes and embroidery. US-bound robes count as clothing and fall under the flammability standard 16 CFR Part 1610.

Cushion covers

Woven, printed or embroidered covers in cotton, canvas, velvet or jute blends, commonly 45 x 45 or 50 x 50 cm. Specify closure, piping, fabric and seam strength. Filled cushions sold in the UK must meet its furniture fire safety rules.

How to brief a home textile manufacturer in Bangladesh

Finished size and weight: Sizes in centimetres after washing, not before, and GSM or grams per piece with a tolerance, often plus or minus 5%, weighed after conditioning to ISO 139.
Fibre and yarn: Cotton type, combed or carded, count and ply for ground and pile, or a polyester-cotton blend for hard laundry use. Low-twist pile feels softer but sheds more lint.
Construction: For sheets, thread count and weave; for towels, pile height, ground and pile yarns, and border. Plied yarns counted separately inflate thread counts, so ask how the count was measured.
Laundry method: Domestic or industrial washing, temperature and bleach. Hotels and hospitals should ask for tests after industrial washing and colour fastness to hypochlorite (ISO 105-N01).
Water in your laundry: Iron in untreated groundwater, common in Bangladesh, yellows white linen. Test your laundry water before blaming the towels, and treat it if needed.
Colour, border and logo: Solid dyed, yarn-dyed or printed, with your colour reference; a dobby or jacquard border, or an embroidered logo with size and position. Each extra design raises minimums.
Packing and moisture: Bulk packs for hotels, or retail packs with inserts, barcodes and cartons to your artwork, plus poly bags and silica gel: terry packed damp in the monsoon can grow mildew at sea.

Tests and certificates for home textiles

ASTM D4772 towel absorbency: Surface water absorption of terry fabric by the water flow method. Test new and after washing; softeners can slow absorbency at first.
ASTM D3775 thread count: Counts ends and picks per inch, with each plied yarn counted as one. Ask for the method on the test report.
ISO 105 series and ISO 5077: Colour fastness to washing (C06), rubbing (X12) and hypochlorite bleach (N01), graded on the grey scales, and dimensional change after washing and drying.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and GOTS: Harmful-substance testing, widely asked for on towels and bed linen, and GOTS for organic claims with a transaction certificate per shipment.
amfori BSCI, Sedex SMETA, WRAP and RSC: Social audits many retailers ask for, plus building and fire safety status for covered textile units, current when the order is placed.

What moves the price of towels and bed linen

Weight: terry is often priced by the kilogram, so GSM and size drive the cost of a towel directly.
Yarn: combed, long staple, ring spun or zero-twist cotton costs more than carded yarn.
Weave and finish: dobby or jacquard borders, sateen, thread count and softeners add cost.
Decoration and colour: embroidery, woven logos, prints and yarn-dyed designs add cost per piece and per design.
Packing and quantity: retail packs cost more than bulk hotel packs, and lots below one dyeing batch cost more per piece.

Lead times and delivery

Typical ranges: stock white hotel towels and sheets can ship within days to two weeks. Samples usually take one to three weeks, longer for a new jacquard border. Bulk usually takes 45 to 90 days from sample approval; yarn-dyed or special weaves, embroidery, failed tests and Eid holidays add time. Roptan confirms the dates in the quote.

For importers and retailers abroad we quote FOB Chattogram (Chittagong), packed to your retail or bulk spec with barcodes to your artwork. Documents: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, a statement on origin under the REX system for EU GSP or origin paperwork for the UK DCTS, test reports and certificate copies. A final random inspection to ISO 2859-1 at your AQL weighs and measures pieces before loading.

Questions buyers ask

What GSM should hotel towels be?

It depends on use. Many hotels choose around 500 to 600 GSM for bath towels, balancing feel, drying time and laundry cost; heavier towels feel richer but dry slower. Tell us your laundry method and sizes, and we quote two weights side by side.

Will the towels keep their weight after washing?

They should, if the specification says so. Ask for GSM before and after a set number of washes, and absorbency to ASTM D4772. Low-grade pile yarn sheds and loses weight quickly, so we check washed results on the first lot before bulk ships.

Is a higher thread count always better for bed sheets?

No. Yarn quality and weave matter more. Past a point, a higher count is often reached by counting each strand of a plied yarn separately, which adds nothing to comfort. Ask for a lab count to ASTM D3775, plus tensile and pilling results.

Can you supply linen for hospitals?

Yes. Hospital linen must survive hot industrial washing and hypochlorite. Specify polyester-cotton or cotton, colour coding by ward if you use it, strong hems, and colour fastness to ISO 105-N01. We deliver with the test reports and a VAT invoice.

Can I order towels with our hotel logo?

Yes. A jacquard or dobby woven logo is part of the towel and lasts longest in repeated washing; embroidery is quicker for small runs. Send the artwork and placement, and approve a sample first. Woven logos need a design set-up and a minimum per design.

How soon will I hear back about home textiles?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.
