Buying forklifts in Bangladesh

Forklifts and pallet trucks move goods in garment factories in Gazipur, Ashulia and Narayanganj, food and pharma stores around Dhaka, and yards near the port of Chattogram (Chittagong). Buyers range from a store with one pallet truck to a plant replacing a fleet. The price is only part of the cost: fuel or power, batteries, tyres, service and downtime decide what a truck costs over its life.

Forklifts we source

Diesel forklifts

Counterbalance trucks for yards, loading bays, rough or monsoon-wet ground and long shifts with no time to charge. Exhaust rules them out of closed stores and food areas; in dusty cement or stone yards ask for an air pre-cleaner.

Electric forklifts

Battery counterbalance trucks, usually 48 V or 80 V, for garment, food and pharma stores where fumes and noise matter. They cost more to buy and usually less per hour to run; lithium charges in short breaks.

Hand pallet trucks

Manual trucks that lift a pallet just clear of the floor for short moves, usually rated 2 to 3 tonnes. Match forks to your pallets; polyurethane wheels are quiet on finished floors, nylon rolls more easily on rough concrete.

Reach trucks

Electric warehouse trucks whose mast or forks reach forward into the rack, so they work in narrower aisles and usually lift higher than counterbalance trucks. They need flat, sound indoor floors, not yards or ramps.

Stackers

Walk-behind trucks, manual or electric, usually on 24 V, for pallets on low and medium racks. They cost less than a forklift and suit small stores and upper floors served by a goods lift; check the legs clear your pallets.

Forks, tyres, chains, filters, brake parts, mast rollers, chargers and batteries for trucks you already run, confirmed as original, compatible or reconditioned before you order. Send the model and serial number, and the ISO 2328 carriage class for forks.

What to tell a forklift supplier in Bangladesh

Load and load centre: Heaviest load in kg including the pallet, and the pallet size, such as 1200 × 1000 mm. Capacity is usually rated at a 500 mm load centre; longer loads and attachments reduce it.
Lift height and free lift: Highest beam plus clearance, the lowest doorway the truck must pass, and whether it loads inside containers, which needs full free lift. Capacity falls at height; quote the load chart figure.
Aisle width: Measure the working aisle and ask the seller for the right-angle stacking aisle with your pallet. Reach trucks and stackers need less than counterbalance trucks.
Duty and charging: Hours per shift and shifts per day. For electric trucks, give the charging window and whether three phase power reaches the charging bay; a lead acid charge usually takes about eight hours.
Floor and yard: Smooth concrete, broken yard or ground that floods in the monsoon, plus ramp gradients. Pneumatic tyres suit rough, wet yards; solid or non-marking tyres suit indoor floors.
Upper floors: Many Dhaka and Gazipur stores sit on upper floors. Give the floor load rating and the goods lift's rated load and car size; truck plus load must fit both.
Attachments: Side shift, fork positioner, clamps or long forks: name them now, since each lowers rated capacity and costs more if added later.

Standards, tests and papers for a forklift

ISO 3691-1: Safety requirements and verification for self-propelled industrial trucks, including counterbalance trucks, reach trucks and powered stackers. Ask which safety standard the truck is built to.
ISO 3691-5: The matching safety standard for pedestrian-propelled trucks, such as manual pallet trucks and stackers; ask for it when you buy them in quantity.
ISO 2328: Sets fork arm and carriage mounting dimensions by class. Quote the class when buying spare forks or a side shifter, so they fit.
CE declaration: Trucks built for Europe carry CE marking under the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. If a quote claims CE, ask for the maker's declaration of conformity.
Capacity plate and load test: The plate states rated capacity, load centre and lift height; check it against the quote. At handover, a signed test at rated capacity and full lift.

What moves the price of a forklift

Capacity and mast: more tonnes and a taller triplex mast with free lift mean a heavier, costlier truck.
Power and battery: electric costs more to buy than diesel; lithium costs more than lead acid but charges faster and needs no watering.
Origin and condition: new or reconditioned, and Japanese, European, Chinese or Indian make, which differ in price and local parts.
Stock or import order: imports carry freight, duty and exchange-rate risk, so check how long the price holds.
After-sales: a local parts stock, free services and training add cost, and can make a higher quote cheaper over the truck's life.

Lead times and delivery

Hand pallet trucks and stackers are often in stock in Dhaka and arrive within a week; stock forklifts typically take one to two weeks. A truck ordered from abroad typically takes 8 to 14 weeks, including sea freight to Chattogram and clearance; high masts, attachments and Eid holidays add time. The truck arrives by low-bed lorry at your site in Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Chattogram or elsewhere. Questions buyers ask

Should I buy a diesel or an electric forklift?

Diesel suits outdoor yards, wet or broken ground and long shifts with no time to charge. Electric suits indoor stores and food, pharma or garment warehouses, and usually costs less per working hour. With load shedding, check your charging window, or choose lithium, which charges in short breaks.

What capacity forklift do I need?

Take the heaviest load, add any attachment, and find its centre of gravity. A truck rated 2.5 tonnes at a 500 mm load centre carries less when the load is longer or lifted higher. Put the load chart figure at your lift height in the quote.

Is a reconditioned forklift worth buying?

It can be, for light or single-shift work, if it is checked before you pay. Ask for the year, hour meter reading, serial numbers, parts replaced and the bill of entry, watch it lift a heavy load to full height, and get a written warranty.

How do I compare two forklift quotes?

Line them up on capacity at the same load centre, lift height, mast, battery and charger, tyres, attachments, warranty, service terms, delivery and VAT. A quote that looks cheaper often leaves one of these out. We set offers side by side with the gaps marked.

Can you source parts for a forklift we already own?

Yes. Send the make, model and serial number, with the part number from the parts manual or a photo of the old part. Common service parts are often in stock locally; others are imported to order, and each is confirmed as original, compatible or reconditioned.

How soon will I hear back about forklifts?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the model or specification, where it is needed and by when.
