Buying boilers in Bangladesh

Boilers supply process heat to dyeing, washing and finishing plants in Gazipur, Narayanganj, Savar and Ashulia, and to food, pharmaceutical and paper plants, hospitals, hotels and laundries in Dhaka and Chattogram. Most run on natural gas, others on diesel, furnace oil or biomass. A steam boiler is a pressure vessel with legal duties attached: it must be registered with the Office of the Chief Inspector of Boilers under the Boiler Act before it runs.

Put quotes from each boiler supplier in Bangladesh on one basis before comparing: steam output at your pressure and feed water temperature, and efficiency on one calorific value. Tell us your needs by form or chat. We source from verified sellers, check the boiler and its papers, and deliver it; the seller erects and commissions it and supports registration. You deal with Roptan only.

Boilers we source

Steam boilers

Fire tube shell boilers, often three-pass, cover most factory loads at moderate pressure; water tube boilers suit higher pressure and large outputs. State steam in kg/h at working pressure and the feed water temperature.

Hot water boilers

Heat water for washing, kitchens, heating and domestic use without raising steam, rated in kW. Lower pressure and simpler to run; specify flow and return temperatures, and ask the seller whether the unit falls under boiler registration.

Gas fired boilers

The usual choice where a gas line and sanctioned load exist. Give the line pressure at the meter, and where supply pressure is uncertain, ask for a dual fuel burner that switches to diesel so production does not stop.

Oil fired boilers

For sites without gas, or as backup. Fuel usually costs more per tonne of steam than gas. Furnace oil needs heating and filtering; diesel is simpler. Ask for fuel storage, day tank and pumping set in the quote; bulk storage may need a licence.

Thermic fluid heaters

Heat thermal oil to about 300 °C at low pressure for stenters, dryers, presses and fryers. Specify heat output in kW or kcal/h, the oil's maximum film temperature and the expansion tank; degraded fluid must be replaced.

Boiler parts

Burners, safety valves, gauge glasses, level controls, feed pumps, refractory and tubes for running boilers. Send the nameplate and photos; pressure parts come with EN 10204 type 3.1 material certificates, and safety valves and level controls only as rated, tested parts.

What a boiler supplier in Bangladesh needs from you

Steam output and pressure
Steam in kg/h at your working pressure and feed water temperature, peak and average. A rating 'from and at 100 °C' is higher than the real output at pressure, so say which basis you use.
Load pattern
Shifts per day and whether demand is steady or comes in batches. Large swings favour more water volume, or two smaller boilers instead of one, which also gives backup during inspection.
Fuel
For gas, the line pressure and sanctioned load, and a dual fuel burner where supply is uncertain. State diesel, furnace oil or biomass if you use them.
Feed water
Send a water test: hardness, iron, TDS and pH, and the condensate return. Groundwater in many areas carries iron, so size iron removal, softener and dosing to it.
Efficiency and heat recovery
Efficiency at full and part load on a stated gross or net calorific value, and whether an economiser and blowdown heat recovery are included.
Safety controls
Flame failure protection, independent low water cut-outs, safety valves sized for full output and a burner that locks out on a fault.
Boiler house
Room size, delivery access, space for tube cleaning, the chimney route and the flood level; keep burner, pumps and panels above it.
Registration and training
Ask the seller to prepare drawings and material and test certificates for registration with the Chief Inspector of Boilers, book the inspection and train your operator; settle both before ordering.

Codes, registration and test papers for boilers

Boiler Act registration
The Office of the Chief Inspector of Boilers registers the boiler and issues the certificate that allows its use; the owner applies, and the certificate is renewed after re-inspection.
ASME BPVC Section I
Rules for power boilers. For a boiler built to it, ask for the manufacturer's data report and the code marking on the nameplate.
EN 12953
Shell boilers: design, equipment and controls. Part 10 sets feedwater and boiler water quality; part 11 covers acceptance tests.
EN 10204 type 3.1
Material certificates for pressure parts, traceable by heat number. Ask for them for the shell, tubes and any replacement pressure parts.
Hydrostatic test record
The pressure test record with the boiler serial, test pressure and witness, kept for registration and later inspections, together with safety valve certificates stating set pressure and capacity.

What moves the price of a boiler, and its fuel bill

  • Output and pressure: more steam at higher pressure needs a bigger, thicker vessel; do not overstate design pressure.
  • Design and origin: water tube usually costs more than fire tube; European, Chinese and Indian makers differ in price and parts supply.
  • Burner and controls: dual fuel, modulating burners, O2 trim and automatic blowdown add cost and cut fuel use.
  • Heat recovery and water treatment: an economiser, condensate return, iron removal, softener and dosing add cost and usually repay it in fuel and tube life.
  • Fuel over the boiler's life usually costs many times the boiler, so each point of efficiency counts.
  • Site work: foundation, chimney, insulation, refractory, steam piping and support through registration.

Lead times and delivery

Small packaged boilers are sometimes in local stock. Most boilers are built or imported to order and typically take two to five months to reach site, including sea freight and clearance at Chattogram; large water tube boilers take longer. Erection, registration and inspection add weeks before first firing. Roptan confirms delivery and commissioning dates in the quote.

We deliver to your site with rigging planned for the access; the seller sets the boiler on its foundation, connects fuel, water, steam and flue, and commissions it: burner tuning with flue gas analysis, safety valve setting, low water cut-out tests and a steam output check at working pressure. Handover papers: registration certificate, drawings, material and test certificates, commissioning sheet, operator training record, warranty and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3).

What we check for this order

  • Trade licence and import documentsThe seller's licence and the bill of entry for boiler and burner, with descriptions and country of origin that match both nameplates.
  • Brand authorisation or stated originFrom the boiler and burner makers, or the origin of the pressure vessel and its design code stated plainly, with the maker's data book.
  • Spare parts and serviceWho holds burner parts, gauge glasses, level controls and safety valves in Bangladesh, and how fast a technician reaches your site.
  • Warranty in writingPeriod, cover for pressure parts, burner and refractory, and exclusions tied to water treatment, which boiler makers often attach.

Questions buyers ask

Does a new boiler need registration in Bangladesh?

Yes. A steam boiler must be registered with the Office of the Chief Inspector of Boilers under the Boiler Act before use, after inspection and a hydrostatic test, and inspected periodically after that. The owner applies; the seller prepares drawings and certificates and supports the inspection. Build the time into your schedule.

Should I choose a steam boiler or a thermic fluid heater?

Steam for dyeing, washing, sterilising, cooking and heating water; saturated steam at 10 bar gauge is about 184 °C. A thermic fluid heater when you need higher temperatures, up to about 300 °C, at low pressure, as on stenters and presses. Many textile units run both; tell us each machine's heat need.

How do I compare boiler quotes on efficiency?

Ask every seller for efficiency at full and part load on the same basis, gross or net calorific value, with the fuel named; a figure on net calorific value reads several points higher for the same boiler. Compare steam output at your pressure and feed temperature, not 'from and at 100 °C', and check heat recovery and erection scope.

What water treatment does a boiler need?

At least a softener for hardness, iron removal where groundwater carries iron, chemical dosing, and blowdown to keep dissolved solids within the maker's limits. Send us a water test; the seller sizes the treatment to it. Poor water causes scale and tube failures, which makers often exclude from warranty.

Is a dual fuel burner worth the extra cost?

Where gas pressure is unreliable, usually yes. A dual fuel burner switches to diesel when gas pressure falls, so processing does not stop. It costs more to buy and diesel costs more to burn, so weigh both against the cost of a stopped dyeing line.

How soon will I hear back about boilers?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the model or specification, where it is needed and by when.
