PET bottles and jars

Bottles and jars stretch blow moulded from PET preforms for water, oil, juice, sauces and personal care. Specify capacity, neck finish (for example PCO 1881 on 28 mm for carbonated drinks), preform weight, top load and burst pressure.

Caps and closures

HDPE or PP screw caps, flip-tops and dispensing closures. Specify the neck finish, liner or linerless seal, tamper-evident band, application and removal torque, and child resistance to ISO 8317 where the product needs it. Test cap and bottle together.

BOPP and CPP film

Biaxially oriented PP is stiff, clear and prints well; cast PP is softer and heat seals, so it forms the inner layer of a laminate. Specify thickness in microns, surface treatment in dynes, coefficient of friction, seal range and any metallised layer.

Shrink and stretch film

Shrink film in PE or polyolefin tightens under heat for collating bottles and cartons; LLDPE stretch film holds pallets by cling. Specify thickness, width, core and roll length, shrink percentage at a stated temperature, or the pre-stretch ratio for machine film.

Self-adhesive tape

BOPP carton sealing tape with acrylic or hot-melt rubber adhesive. Specify width, length per roll, total thickness and peel adhesion to ASTM D3330; acrylic ages better in heat, hot-melt grabs faster, and short rolls make a price look lower.

Thermoformed trays

Trays, clamshells and blisters formed from PET, PP or PS sheet for food, eggs, electronics and retail. Specify sheet thickness, depth, anti-fog for chilled food, freezer or oven use and food-contact papers; each design needs its own forming tool.

What to send a plastic packaging manufacturer in Bangladesh

Resin and grade
PET, HDPE, PP, LDPE, LLDPE or PS, the grade, and whether recycled content is allowed. Recycled PET for food contact needs a process authorised under Regulation (EU) 2022/1616.
Dimensions that fit your machine
Neck finish drawings, bottle height and diameter, film width, core size and roll diameter for your filling, wrapping or labelling machine. Trial a sample lot on the line first.
Gauge and weight
Preform or bottle weight in grams and film or sheet thickness in microns, each with a tolerance, because a thinner gauge is the easiest way to cut cost.
Performance tests
Top load and leak tests for bottles, torque for closures, tensile (ASTM D882), friction (ASTM D1894) and haze (ASTM D1003) for film, peel adhesion (ASTM D3330) for tape.
Barrier and seal
For snacks and dry food, water vapour transmission in g/m²/day, oxygen transmission in cc/m²/day and seal strength at your sealing temperature, matched to the shelf life you need.

Food-contact plastics in the EU: authorised substances, migration limits and a declaration of compliance for each material. Ask for the report on the finished item.
FDA 21 CFR 177
US food-contact polymers: 177.1520 for PP and PE, 177.1630 for PET. Ask for the resin supplier's letter naming the section and the conditions of use.
Directive (EU) 2019/904
The Single-Use Plastics Directive requires caps and lids on drink containers up to 3 litres to stay attached to the container during use.
ISO 8317
Reclosable child-resistant packaging, tested with panels of children and adults. Ask for the report on the exact cap and container combination.
ASTM D882, D1894, D1003, D3330
Tensile properties of thin film, coefficient of friction, haze, and peel adhesion of tape. Naming the method keeps reports comparable between sellers.

What moves the price of plastic packaging

  • Resin price: PET, PP and PE are mostly imported and follow oil markets, so quotes carry a short validity.
  • Gauge and weight: grams per bottle and microns of film set most of the cost.
  • Tooling: new preform, blow or thermoforming moulds and gravure cylinders are quoted separately.
  • Printing and lamination: more colours, metallising and extra laminate layers add cost per kilogram.
  • Freight volume: blown bottles and trays ship mostly air, while preforms and film ship dense.

Lead times and delivery

Typical ranges: stock film, tape and standard bottles in one to two weeks; printed film and custom bottles usually three to five weeks after artwork or sample approval, because cylinders or plates are made first; new moulds or gravure cylinders add four to eight weeks. Imported resin, food-contact tests and port delays add time. Roptan confirms the dates in the quote.

Blown bottles and trays are mostly air, so some buyers import preforms or nested trays instead; the quote states pieces per container, and wooden pallets are heat treated and marked under ISPM 15. Documents: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, the seller's ERC, certificates of analysis per lot, food-contact declarations and migration reports, and an AQL inspection report to ISO 2859-1.

Questions buyers ask

Should we buy PET bottles or preforms?

If you blow bottles in your own plant, preforms ship far denser and cost less to move. Buy blown bottles when you have no blowing machine or need small, varied runs. Either way, match the neck finish to your caps and filler, and keep preform weight and resin grade in the specification.

What is the difference between BOPP and CPP film?

Both are polypropylene. BOPP is stretched in both directions, so it is stiff, clear and prints well, and it is the usual outer layer of snack packs and labels. CPP is cast, softer and heat seals easily, so it is used as the inner sealing layer or for clear bags.

Which tape adhesive suits hot, humid warehouses?

Acrylic adhesive holds up better to heat and ageing, and it stays clear. Hot-melt rubber adhesive grabs faster and suits heavy or recycled cartons, but it can soften in heat. State width, length per roll and thickness, and count a sample of rolls, since short length is a common shortfall.

Can recycled PET be used for food bottles?

Only through a recycling process approved for food contact in your market: under Regulation (EU) 2022/1616 in the EU, and with an FDA letter of no objection for the process in the US. Ask for the recycler's approval, the recycled content per lot and a migration report on the bottle.

What is the minimum order for printed film?

It depends on the print method. Gravure needs a cylinder per colour, so runs are often a few tonnes to spread that cost; flexo plates cost less and suit shorter runs. Plain film and stock tape have lower minimums. Roptan confirms the minimum in kilograms or rolls in the quote.

How soon will I hear back about plastic packaging and film?
