Device and size range

Every size: syringe volume and tip, needle gauge and length, cannula gauge, gauze size and ply, brace sizes by body measurement, with a sample or drawing.

Device standard

The product standard for each item, such as ISO 7886-1, ISO 7864, ISO 10555-5 or ISO 7176, so samples and batches are tested against one reference.

Sterile or non-sterile

Sterile devices need a validated process, ethylene oxide to ISO 11135 or radiation to ISO 11137, with a sterility assurance level of one in a million.

EO residues and biocompatibility

For EO-sterilised items, residual ethylene oxide within ISO 10993-7 limits after aeration, and biological evaluation to ISO 10993-1 for materials in body contact.

Packaging and shelf life

Sterile barrier packs to ISO 11607-1, units per box and carton, and shelf life, often three to five years, with the minimum remaining on arrival.

Quality management for medical device makers. Check that the certificate's scope names your device types and the site, and that it is current.

ISO 7886-1, ISO 7864, ISO 6009, ISO 80369-7

Syringes, needles, needle colour coding and Luer connectors. Ask for test reports on the batch, not only a certificate for the design.

ISO 11135 and ISO 11137

Validation and control of ethylene oxide and radiation sterilisation. Ask for the validation summary and each batch's sterilisation record.

CE marking under EU MDR 2017/745

Needed for sale in the EU. Sterile devices need a notified body certificate, and a maker outside the EU needs an EU authorised representative.

DGDA registration

Registration of medical devices with the Directorate General of Drug Administration where required, for sale in Bangladesh and for export papers.
