Buying wood polish in Bangladesh

Wood finishes go on furniture, doors, kitchen cabinets and panelling made in workshops and factories across Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj and Chattogram (Chittagong), for homes, hotels, offices and export. Buyers are furniture factories, door and kitchen makers, interior contractors and developers. The choice between NC lacquer, melamine, PU and French polish sets how the finish looks and resists heat, water and scratches, and how much rework a job costs.

A wood polish supplier in Bangladesh must supply a complete, compatible system, because humid air turns lacquer white, wet timber lifts the film, and mismatched sealers and finish coats fail to bond. Tell us what you finish by form or chat. We source from verified sellers, get a sample panel approved on your timber, check the SDS and batch certificates, and deliver with hardener and thinner matched to the system. You deal with Roptan only.

Wood polish we source

NC lacquer

Nitrocellulose lacquer dries in minutes and is easy to spray and repair, so it suits fast turnover and furniture in light use. It resists heat, water and alcohol less than PU, yellows with age, and blushes white in humid air without a retarder.

PU wood polish

Two-pack polyurethane: a base mixed with an isocyanate hardener. It resists heat, water, alcohol and scratches, so it suits dining tables, kitchen doors and hotel furniture. It has a pot life once mixed, and moisture spoils open hardener tins.

Wood stain

Water, solvent or oil-based stains that colour the wood while showing the grain, evening out mixed timber or matching a sample. Test on the actual timber: one stain looks different on teak, mahogany, gamari and MDF veneer.

Sanding sealer

A fast-drying first coat that seals the pores and stiffens raised fibres so they sand to a fine powder, giving a smooth base. Use a sealer from the same system as the finish: an NC sealer under PU can cause adhesion problems.

French polish

Shellac dissolved in spirit, applied by pad in many thin layers for a deep, traditional gloss, sold as flakes or ready mixed in shades such as blonde, orange and garnet. It suits antiques and restoration, but marks with heat, water and alcohol.

Melamine polish

An acid-curing lacquer, mixed with a hardener before spraying, that dries harder and more resistant than NC lacquer at lower cost than PU. It gives off strong fumes while curing, so spray in a ventilated booth and let pieces cure before packing.

What to tell a wood polish supplier in Bangladesh

Item and use
Tables, chairs, doors, kitchen fronts, floors, panels or handicrafts, indoors or outdoors. Heat, water and wear decide between NC, melamine and PU.
Timber and panel
Species or board, such as teak, mahogany, gamari, MDF, plywood or veneer, and its moisture content. Oily timbers such as teak and MDF edges may need a special sealer.
Finish system
NC, PU, melamine or French polish, clear or pigmented, open or filled grain. Buy stain, sealer, finish and thinner as one matched system.
Sheen and colour
Gloss in units at 60° to ISO 2813, not just matt or gloss, and a finished panel to match, not a photo. Approve a sample on your own wood, since colour depends on timber, stain, coats and sheen.
Application method
Spray, brush or pad, and your equipment. Brushing grades are different products; give spraying viscosity in seconds on a flow cup to ISO 2431, with the thinner ratio.
Workshop climate
Temperature, humidity and whether the spray booth is enclosed and filtered. Humid days need a retarder thinner; two-pack PU and melamine need good ventilation.
Volume and terms
Litres per month by product, pack sizes, VAT, credit days and delivery point. Coverage per coat from the data sheet sets the true quantity.

Safety papers and tests for wood finishes

Safety data sheet and VOC
An SDS to GHS for every lacquer, hardener, stain and thinner, and the VOC figure. Most are flammable and some hardeners are sensitising.
ISO 2813
Measures gloss at 20°, 60° or 85°. A 60° value in the quote lets you check each batch against the approved sample.
ISO 2409
Cross-cut adhesion test: a grid cut through the finish shows how much lifts with tape, a quick check that the system bonds to sealer and timber.
EN 12720
Tests how furniture surfaces resist cold liquids such as water, coffee and alcohol. Useful when comparing finishes for tables, kitchens and hotel furniture.
Export limits
Furniture sold in the United States must meet the 90 ppm lead limit for coatings under 16 CFR 1303, and EU-bound goods must meet REACH; export buyers may ask for lab reports.

What moves the price of wood polish

  • Chemistry: two-pack PU usually costs more per litre than melamine, and melamine more than NC lacquer, but lasts longer in hard use.
  • Solids: higher solids cost more per litre but build the film in fewer coats, so compare cost per finished square metre.
  • Thinner and hardener: thinning ratios and hardener use add to the real cost per square metre.
  • Colour and grade: tinted, pigmented, custom-matched, UV-resistant and water-based finishes cost more than clear standard ones.
  • Origin and pack: imported ranges and small tins cost more per litre than local products in 20 litre drums, and resins and solvents follow the dollar.

Lead times and delivery

Common clear NC, melamine and PU systems are usually in stock in Dhaka and Chattogram and deliver within one to five days. Colours matched to your sample typically take one to two weeks, including a sample panel for approval. Imported or water-based ranges typically take four to eight weeks. Roptan confirms dates in the quote.

Tins and drums arrive sealed, with batch numbers, shelf life and hardener and thinner matched to the base, at workshops in Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Chattogram and elsewhere. Store solvent tins cool, closed and away from sparks and the spray booth. Documents: VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3), SDS for each product, certificate of analysis per batch, the data sheet and the approved colour panel.

What we check for this order

  • Trade licence and import permitThe seller's trade licence, IRC and the import papers for imported lacquers and resins quoted.
  • A safety data sheet for every productSDS for every lacquer, hardener, stain and thinner, before the first delivery, matching the product names quoted.
  • A certificate of analysis per batchBatch certificates for solids, viscosity and colour, matched to the tins and the approved sample, so colour and sheen stay consistent.
  • Storage and handling termsShelf life, especially for PU hardener, pot life for two-pack products, storage temperature and date of manufacture on every tin, in writing.

Questions buyers ask

NC lacquer, melamine or PU: which should I choose?

Match the finish to the use. NC lacquer dries quickly and repairs easily but marks with heat and water, so it suits pieces in light use. Melamine is harder and suits most indoor furniture at moderate cost. PU gives a harder, more resistant film for tables, kitchen doors and hotel furniture, at a higher price per litre.

Why does my lacquer turn white in the rainy season?

That is blushing: fast-evaporating solvent cools the wet film, and moisture from humid air condenses in it, leaving it milky. Add the maker's retarder thinner, spray thinner coats and avoid the most humid hours. A light mist coat of thinner and retarder often clears mild blush.

How do I compare wood polish prices?

Compare cost per finished square metre: ask each seller for solids content, coverage per litre by your method, number of coats and thinner ratio, then divide your area by the coverage and multiply by the coats. A cheaper lacquer that needs an extra coat costs more per piece.

Can you match our existing colour?

Yes. Send a finished panel or piece of the colour on the same timber, not a photo or printed card. The seller mixes stain and toner, sprays a sample panel on your wood and records the formula, so repeat orders match; you approve the panel first.

Can we get a fixed price for monthly supply?

Often, for a set period. Resins and solvents follow the dollar, so sellers hold a price only for a limited time. Tell us your monthly litres by product; we agree a price period, delivery schedule and stock held from one batch, so colours stay consistent.

How soon will I hear back about wood polish?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.

Who do I deal with?
