Floor coatings

Epoxy and polyurethane systems for factory, warehouse and car park floors, from thin roller coats to self levelling layers. Epoxy gives hardness and chemical resistance; polyurethane flexes and handles sunlight better; acrylic is a light-duty, lower-cost choice.

Anti corrosion coatings

Primer, intermediate and finish coats for steel, tanks and pipework, typically a zinc-rich or epoxy primer, an epoxy mid coat and a polyurethane finish, specified by ISO 12944 corrosivity category and durability, with preparation grade and film thickness per coat.

Fire retardant paint

Two different products. Fire retardant paint slows flame spread on timber and board. Intumescent coatings swell in fire to insulate structural steel for 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes; thickness depends on each section's size and the rating, calculated from your steel schedule.

Road marking paint

Thermoplastic laid hot, or cold solvent or water-based paint, with glass beads for night visibility, for roads, car parks and factory walkways. Thermoplastic costs more but lasts longer under heavy traffic; both need a dry, clean surface.

Roof coatings

Elastomeric acrylic or polyurethane coatings for concrete and metal roofs, often white to reflect sun. They seal hairline cracks and cut heat under the roof; repair cracks and drainage first, and state roof type, slope and standing water.

Powder coating

Dry powder sprayed electrostatically and oven-cured on steel or aluminium parts, for furniture, racks and panels. Polyester powders suit outdoor use; epoxy powders suit indoor parts but chalk in sunlight. Specify colour code, gloss, film thickness and pretreatment.

What to tell an industrial coating supplier in Bangladesh

Substrate: Steel, galvanised steel, aluminium, concrete, timber or old paint, and its condition. Galvanised steel and aluminium need primers made for them, or the system peels.
Corrosivity category: Under ISO 12944-2, inland urban and industrial sites usually fall in C3 or C4; coastal sites near Chattogram or Mongla often reach C4 or C5. If unsure, specify the higher category.
Durability: Years to first major maintenance: ISO 12944 groups durability as low, up to 7 years, medium 7 to 15, high 15 to 25 and very high over 25.
Surface preparation: The grade your site can reach, such as blast cleaning to Sa 2½ or power tool cleaning to St 3 under ISO 8501-1, and a soluble salt limit for coastal steel.
Area and film thickness: Square metres and dry film thickness per coat and in total, in microns. Quantity follows from these and the paint's volume solids; a quote in litres alone is incomplete.
Climate and fire rating: Paint only when steel is at least 3 °C above dew point, so plan outdoor work around the monsoon. For intumescents: fire resistance period, steel sections and the critical steel temperature your engineer uses.
Colour, finish and scope: Colour code from a standard chart, gloss level, a polyurethane finish where sun reaches, and supply only or supply and apply, with the warranty and inspection records you expect.

Coating standards, inspection and test papers

ISO 12944: Corrosion protection of steel by paint systems: corrosivity categories C1 to C5 and CX, durability ranges and model systems. Ask for the system's category and durability in writing.
ISO 8501-1: Visual grades of surface cleanliness, such as Sa 2½ for blast cleaning and St 3 for power tool cleaning. Write the grade into the order.
BS 476 or EN 13381-8: Fire tests for intumescent coatings on steel. Ask for the test report and the thickness table for your section sizes and rating, and check what the FSCD requires.
EN 1436: Road marking performance: night visibility, skid resistance and colour. Ask for the classes the product meets, with glass beads to EN 1423.
ASTM D4541 and ISO 19840: Pull-off adhesion, used to accept the applied system on a trial patch, and dry film thickness measurement on blast-cleaned steel. Agree the minimum value and test points first.

What moves the price of an industrial coating

Volume solids: paint with more solids covers more area per litre at the same thickness, so compare cost per square metre, not per litre.
System and durability: zinc-rich primers, polyurethane finishes and extra coats for C5 or very high durability raise cost per square metre.
Fire rating: 90 or 120 minute intumescent coatings need much thicker films than 30 or 60 minutes, and thinner steel sections need more.
Surface preparation and access: blasting, scaffolding and work at height add cost, and blast-cleaned steel holds paint far longer.
Colour, batch and origin: special colours and small batches cost more than stock colours, and imported systems follow the exchange rate.

Stock colours of common systems are usually available in Dhaka and Chattogram within two to five days; tinted batches typically take one to two weeks. Imported intumescent, high-performance anti corrosion and road marking systems typically take four to eight weeks, and fire engineering calculations add time. How do I compare paint quotes with different prices per litre?

Convert each to cost per square metre. Theoretical coverage in square metres per litre equals volume solids in per cent times 10, divided by dry film thickness in microns: 50% solids at 100 microns covers 5 square metres per litre. Allow for application losses.

Which anti corrosion system suits a plant near Chattogram?

Coastal and industrial sites often fall in ISO 12944 category C4 or C5. That usually means blast cleaning, a zinc-rich or epoxy primer, an epoxy intermediate coat and a polyurethane finish, at a thickness set for the durability you want. If unsure, specify the higher category; repainting steel in service costs more.

Is fire retardant paint the same as intumescent paint?

No. Fire retardant paint slows flame spread over a surface such as timber, tested to BS 476-7. An intumescent coating swells in fire to keep structural steel below its critical temperature for a stated time, tested to BS 476 or EN 13381-8. Ask your fire consultant which you need.

How do we check a coating was applied to specification?

Ask for an inspection record: surface grade against ISO 8501-1, salt and dew point readings, dry film thickness to ISO 19840, and pull-off adhesion to ASTM D4541 at agreed points. Keep batch numbers and photos: a warranty usually depends on these records.

Thermoplastic or cold road marking paint?

Thermoplastic is laid hot, a few millimetres thick, and lasts much longer under traffic, so it suits highways and city streets, but needs hot-melt equipment. Cold paint costs less and suits car parks and factory walkways. Both need glass beads and a dry surface.

How soon will I hear back about industrial coatings?
