Buying pabx, PA and sound systems in Bangladesh

Offices, factories, hospitals, hotels, schools, mosques and shopping centres in Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj and Chattogram need internal telephones, announcements, meeting room audio and door intercoms. Local conditions shape the choice: load shedding that reached Dhaka in August 2026, with outages of 10 to 12 hours a day reported in some districts, monsoon rain and humidity for outdoor speakers, and BTRC rules on wireless equipment.

Choosing a PABX and sound system supplier in Bangladesh means comparing quotes that differ in extension capacity, trunk lines, amplifier power, speaker count and how much cabling and programming is included. Roptan turns your needs into one specification, sources from verified sellers, checks equipment and papers, and arranges installation, programming and testing through the seller. You deal with Roptan only, or post the requirement on our board.

PABX, PA and sound systems we source

PABX and IP PBX systems

Analogue or digital PABX for smaller sites with existing phone wiring, and IP or hybrid systems, which the trade usually recommends for larger organisations, several buildings and remote users. Specify extensions, trunk lines and how long the system runs on battery.

PA systems

Amplifiers, mixers, zone selectors, microphones and ceiling, wall and horn loudspeakers for paging, background music and evacuation messages. For evacuation, specify a voice alarm system with equipment to EN 54-16 and EN 54-24, designed into the building's fire safety plan.

Conference and sound systems

Delegate microphone systems, mixers, amplifiers and loudspeakers for boardrooms, training rooms, halls and auditoriums. Wireless microphones are radio equipment, so they normally come in through an importer holding BTRC enlistment and a No Objection Certificate for the shipment.

Mobile signal boosters

Repeaters that boost mobile signal in basements and large buildings. Buying or selling one without BTRC approval is a punishable offence, and BTRC said in 2026 that its operations against unauthorised boosters continue. We ask for the approval before quoting.

Intercom systems

Audio and video door stations, apartment and office intercoms, and point-to-point units between rooms. Specify the number of stations, door release, cable distances, and whether calls should ring through to the PABX extensions or stay on a separate system.

Video conferencing equipment

Conference cameras, speakerphones, microphones, displays and room kits for online meetings. Specify room size, seats, the meeting platforms you use and display size, and test the kit on your own network and internet link before sign-off.

How to specify a PABX, PA or sound system

Extensions and trunk lines
Count analogue, IP and cordless extensions now and planned, and the trunk lines: analogue, digital or SIP trunks from a licensed operator. Leave spare ports for growth.
Backup power
State how long the PABX and PA must run in an outage. Built-in batteries are often short, so add an IPS or UPS, and give evacuation PA its own protected supply.
Coverage and zones
For PA, give floor plans, ceiling heights, noisy areas and outdoor zones. Each zone needs its own amplifier capacity and volume control, and messages must reach every occupied area.
Speech intelligibility
Ask the seller to design for a target Speech Transmission Index and to measure it after installation with the STIPA method under IEC 60268-16.
Outdoor and wet areas
About 80 percent of the year's rain falls in the monsoon and humidity then often runs above 90 percent. Outdoor horns and speakers need a weatherproof rating and corrosion-resistant fixings.
Calls to the outside world
Keep external calls on licensed operators' lines. BTRC acts against illegal international call termination, so avoid any set-up that routes international calls around licensed carriers.
Cabling and integration
Say whether cabling is in scope, the cable types, and links to the fire alarm, CCTV, door access or building management system.

Standards, approvals and building rules

BNBC 2020 Part 4 and FSCD approval
Fire protection rules for buildings, and Fire Service and Civil Defence approval of the fire safety plan. Evacuation PA belongs in that plan, not added later.
EN 54-16, EN 54-24 and CEN/TS 54-32
Voice alarm control and indicating equipment, loudspeakers for voice alarm systems, and guidance on planning, design, installation, commissioning and maintenance. Ask for certificates for the exact models.
IEC 60268-16
Speech Transmission Index, on a scale of 0 to 1, with STIPA as the quick method for public address. Ask for measured results in the handover.
IEC 62368-1
Safety of audio, video and IT equipment, which replaced IEC 60065 for amplifiers and mixers. Ask for the report for the model quoted.
BTRC importer enlistment and NOC
Radio equipment comes in through an importer holding BTRC's enlistment certificate, valid 2 years, with a No Objection Certificate obtained before each shipment arrives.

What moves the price of a PABX or sound system

  • Port count: extensions, trunk lines and SIP channels set the PABX size and its licences.
  • IP, hybrid or analogue: IP handsets cost more per desk but run over the data network instead of separate phone wiring.
  • Amplifier power and speaker count: more zones, outdoor horns and evacuation duty add equipment.
  • Certified voice alarm: EN 54 equipment costs more than commercial PA, and is what an evacuation system needs.
  • Installation scope: cabling, conduit, racks, programming and testing can be a large share of the total on big sites.

Lead times and delivery

Standard PABX units, IP phones, amplifiers and speakers are often held in stock in Dhaka. Larger IP systems, certified voice alarm equipment, conference systems and video room kits are often imported to order, and wireless items wait for the importer's BTRC NOC. Site cabling, ceiling work and fire plan approval often decide the real handover date. Roptan confirms delivery and installation dates, and any minimum, in the quote for each order.

The seller surveys the site, delivers across Bangladesh, runs and labels cabling where it is in scope, mounts the equipment, programmes extensions, call routing, zones and messages, and tests every extension and speaker. For PA and voice alarm, the handover includes measured STI results, the zone list and a battery runtime test. You receive the as-built drawing, programming backup, user training, warranty and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3).

What we check for this order

  • Trade licence, and BTRC papers where requiredCurrent trade licence in the name on the quote, and the importer's BTRC enlistment and NOC for wireless microphones, handsets or boosters.
  • Test reports for the models quotedIEC 62368-1 safety reports, and EN 54 certificates for any equipment in an evacuation system, from the maker or an accredited lab.
  • Warranty and after sales in writingWarranty, spare parts, programming support and response times written into the quote, with spare parts priced.
  • A demonstration before the orderWe see the system working with the handsets, features and speakers quoted before the order is placed.

Questions buyers ask

Should we choose an IP PBX or an analogue PABX?

For a small office with existing phone wiring, an analogue or hybrid PABX is simple and low cost. For larger sites, several buildings or remote staff, the trade usually recommends IP or hybrid systems, which run over the data network and add features. Size for growth, and check how long it runs on battery during load shedding.

What should we know about VoIP and BTRC rules?

BTRC acts against illegal international call termination, where calls bypass licensed carriers, and in 2026 it fined an operator over SIMs used this way. An office IP PBX handling internal calls is a different matter. Keep external lines with licensed operators, and do not route international calls around them.

Can we install a mobile signal booster in our building?

Only with BTRC approval. Buying or selling a booster or repeater without it is a punishable offence, and BTRC said in 2026 that its operations against them continue. Talk to your mobile operator about indoor coverage first. Where an approved solution exists, we source only what the approval covers.

How do we know announcements will be understood?

Volume is not enough: echo and noise make speech unclear. Ask the seller to design for a Speech Transmission Index target and to measure it after installation with STIPA, the quick method in IEC 60268-16. STI runs from 0 to 1, and higher is clearer. Put the target and the measured results in the handover.

How long will phones and PA work during load shedding?

Only as long as the backup lasts. Many PABX units have short built-in battery backup, so add an IPS or UPS sized to your outages, which in some districts ran 10 to 12 hours a day in August 2026. Evacuation PA needs its own protected supply. Ask for a runtime test at handover.

How soon will I hear back about pabx, PA and sound systems?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.

Who do I deal with?
