Buying video conferencing equipment in Bangladesh

Video conferencing equipment links a meeting room to people elsewhere: a camera, microphones, speakers, a display, and a codec or computer that runs the meeting platform. It ranges from desktop sets and all-in-one huddle units to dedicated room systems and telepresence rooms. Offices, banks, NGOs, universities and hospitals in Bangladesh buy it for meetings with branches and overseas partners.

A video conferencing equipment supplier in Bangladesh should ask about the room and the network before the camera. Roptan collects room size, seats, platform and network details, sources from verified sellers, checks the papers for any Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or wireless microphone parts, and arranges installation and a test call on your own link through the seller.

Kinds of video conferencing equipment

Desktop systems

A computer with a camera, headset or speakerphone and the meeting software; browser platforms using WebRTC need no special software. Choose it for single users and small offices.

Huddle room all-in-one units

Camera, microphones, speakers and codec in one unit. Choose it for small rooms of a few seats where a simple set-up matters more than wide coverage.

Dedicated room systems

All the parts packaged as one system, from portable units to large-group rooms. Choose it for boardrooms and training rooms with regular calls.

Integrated room kits

Separate cameras, ceiling or table microphones, speakers and a processor that someone must integrate and tune. Choose it for large or unusually shaped rooms.

Telepresence rooms

Life-size displays, accurate colour and apparent eye contact, with lighting, acoustics and furniture closely controlled. Choose it for head offices that meet the same remote sites often.

How to brief a video conferencing equipment supplier in Bangladesh

Room and seats
Give room length, width, seat count and table shape, so the seller can match camera coverage and microphone pickup to the room.
Platform and protocols
Name every platform you use. Ask whether the kit joins each natively or through SIP or H.323; H.323 is still used, mostly in business conferencing.
Network delay
A delay above about 150 to 300 ms usually becomes noticeable, and asymmetric links can limit upload and video quality. Test on your own link.
Echo cancellation
Any room with loudspeakers and microphones together needs acoustic echo cancellation that adapts to the room. Ask which unit performs it.
PoE and switch ports
Room kits attached by Ethernet are often powered over it: up to 15.4 W per port under 802.3af, 30 W under 802.3at, 60 or 90 W under 802.3bt.
Security
For confidential meetings, ask whether SIP calls use TLS for signalling and SRTP to encrypt the media.
Camera and display
State camera resolution, horizontal field of view in degrees and any zoom, the display count and size in inches, and how laptops share content to the screen.
Backup power
Put the codec, display and switch on a UPS sized for the meetings you cannot drop during load shedding.

Standards and papers for video conferencing kit

EN IEC 62368-1:2024
Safety of cameras, displays, codecs and powered speakers; the 2020 edition was withdrawn in May 2024. Ask for the report for each model quoted.
RFC 3261 (SIP) with TLS and SRTP
SIP sets up calls between standards-based systems; TLS secures the signalling and SRTP encrypts the audio and video.
IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at and 802.3bt
Power over Ethernet types for kits fed from the switch. Check each device's power draw against the ports available.
BTRC permission and an NOC
For kits with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or wireless microphones: ask for the importer's BTRC enlistment certificate, valid 2 years, and the NOC for the shipment.

What moves the price of video conferencing equipment

  • Room and group size: wider camera coverage, more microphones and larger displays.
  • All-in-one or integrated: separate components add integration and tuning work.
  • Telepresence fit-out: controlled lighting, acoustics and furniture add building work.
  • Microphones and echo cancellation: more seats need more pickup and processing channels.
  • Platform and licences: the meeting platform's room licences and support terms.
  • Network: PoE switching and cabling for each room.

Lead times and delivery

An all-in-one unit the seller holds is usually quickest. Integrated room kits imported to order, telepresence fit-out, new network cabling and any wireless parts waiting for the importer's BTRC NOC take longer. Roptan confirms delivery and installation dates, and any minimum order, in the quote.

The seller delivers anywhere in Bangladesh, mounts the camera and display, fixes microphones and speakers, connects the kit to your network and platform accounts, and tunes the echo cancelling. Ask for a test call with a remote site, the settings and accounts handed over, user training and a written warranty, with a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3).

What we check for this order

  • Platform compatibilityWe confirm in writing that the kit quoted works with the meeting platforms you named, and how it joins them.
  • Radio partsFor any Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or wireless microphone part, we ask for the importer's BTRC enlistment certificate and the shipment's NOC.
  • Safety reportsWe check EN IEC 62368-1 reports for the camera, codec, display and powered speakers named in the quote.
  • Test call on your networkWe ask the seller to run a call from the room over your own link, with a remote site, before sign-off.

Questions buyers ask

What internet speed does a meeting room need?

Ask the platform rather than rely on a rule of thumb: published bandwidth figures are often old, and needs change with resolution and the number of sites. Delay matters as much as speed; above about 150 to 300 ms of delay, conversation feels unnatural. Test the room on your own link before sign-off.

Should we buy an all-in-one unit or separate components?

An all-in-one unit holds the camera, microphones, speakers and codec, and suits small rooms. Larger or oddly shaped rooms usually need separate cameras, microphones and speakers that someone integrates and tunes, so the installer's skill matters more. Ask to see a tuned room working.

Will the kit work with our meeting platform?

Ask before you order. Some kits join one platform natively; others connect through standards such as SIP or H.323. Name every platform you use, including those your clients use, and get the seller to confirm each in writing.

Do wireless parts need BTRC papers?

Treat them as radio equipment. Kits with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or wireless microphones contain radio transmitters, and almost all radio equipment entering Bangladesh needs BTRC permission: an importer holding an enlistment certificate and a No Objection Certificate for each shipment. Ask the seller for both.

How soon will I hear back about pabx, PA and sound systems?
