Buying women's trousers in Bangladesh

Women's trousers from Bangladesh run from denim jeans and chinos to tailored and knitted styles, ordered by importers, retailers and online brands, and by brands at home. One detail is often missed: front and back rise are measured separately, and a women's trousers manufacturer in Bangladesh needs both on your chart.

Roptan runs the order: we match each style to a verified seller set up for your fabric, from denim to stretch suiting and jersey, have the fabric and washed garments tested, approve fit on every size, check trims and inspect the bulk before it leaves.

Kinds of women's trousers

Tailored trousers

Dress trousers with a fly, a waistband and often pleats below it: forward pleats open towards the crotch, reverse pleats towards the pockets. Say how many, and which way.

Jeans

Typically in denim, finished with washes, dyes or treatments that change the look. Even pre-shrunk jeans can shrink slightly and lose some colour in washing, so test the washed garment.

Chinos and khakis

Casual trousers; reverse pleats, which open towards the pockets, are typical of khakis. Give the pleat count, pocket sizes and positions, and fly width and length on the spec.

Stretch trousers

Woven with elastane, a fibre that recovers rapidly after stretching. Stretch denim can carry up to 3 percent elastane and stretch up to 15 percent; cut so the stretch runs round the leg.

Knitted trousers and leggings

Cut from knitted fabric; knitted trousers sit under their own customs heading, apart from woven ones. Joggers can fall under a different heading again, so let your broker see the sketch.

How to brief a women's trousers manufacturer in Bangladesh

Points of measure
Waist, inseam, hip, front rise, back rise, length, thigh, knee and hem, each with a tolerance. Record front and back rise separately; many charts merge them.
Fabric and weight
Fibre, weave or knit, and g/m2. Tropical weights of about 153 to 288 g/m2 suit trousers for hot weather; jeans usually take bottom-weights of about 237 to 407 g/m2.
Stretch
Elastane content, and the stretch and recovery values the finished fabric must reach, with the test method named.
Pleats, fly and pockets
Pleat count and direction, fly width and length, pocket sizes and positions, belt loops and waistband height.
Wash and finish
For denim, name the wash and the finishing processes you accept; some companies have banned sandblasting, so say whether you do.

Tests for women's trousers

EN ISO 20932-1
Elasticity of fabrics by strip tests, in straight strips or loops. Use it for stretch and recovery values on stretch trouser fabric.
ISO 13935-1 and ISO 13935-2
Seam strength by strip or grab method. The current Part 2 covers straight seams only, so the curved crotch seam needs an agreed garment test.
EN 1811
Nickel release from metal buttons, rivets and zips in prolonged skin contact; the EU limit is usually given as 0.5 micrograms per square centimetre per week.
ISO 105-C06 and ISO 105-X12
Colour fastness to washing and rubbing on grey scales, tested on the washed garment for denim. The pass grades are yours to set.

What moves the price of women's trousers

  • Fabric route: denim weaving here depends on imported yarn, and speciality fabrics are imported outright, adding freight and time.
  • Wash and finish: each wash, dye or treatment on denim adds a process and a test.
  • Stretch content: elastane changes the fabric price and adds stretch and recovery testing.
  • Fabric weight: heavier denim and bottom-weights use more fibre per metre.
  • Construction: pleats, extra pockets, rivets and a zip fly each add parts and steps.

Lead times and delivery

For orders of about 1,000 pieces, bulk usually takes about 35 to 90 days: knitted leggings at the shorter end, denim jeans at the longer end, since denim yarn and speciality fabrics are often imported. Minimums vary by mill and wash; ask whether they count per style, colour or size. Roptan confirms dates and minimums in the quote.

Trousers can go folded flat in cartons, and tailored styles full length on hangers in poly bags; the choice changes the carton count. Inside Bangladesh, Roptan delivers to your warehouse or store with the packing list, inspection report and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3).

Buying women's trousers for export

Women's and girls' trousers, breeches, shorts and bib and brace overalls share subheadings 6204.61 to 6204.69 when woven and 6104.61 to 6104.69 when knitted, by fibre; cotton denim jeans sit in 6204.62. Joggers may fall elsewhere, so your customs broker confirms each style. We quote FOB Chattogram, or by air from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

What we check for this order

  • Rise and seat on every sizeWe measure front rise, back rise, seat and inseam on each size in the size set before bulk is cut.
  • Washed garments, not raw fabricFor denim and washed styles we check shrinkage and shade on washed garments against the approved standard.
  • Zips, buttons and rivetsOn the first sewn pieces we check that zips run and lock, and that buttons and rivets hold.
  • Final AQL inspectionFinal random check to ISO 2859-1, usually at AQL 2.5 major and 4.0 minor; a rise out of tolerance or a stuck zip is major.

Questions buyers ask

How much will our jeans shrink after washing?

Even pre-shrunk jeans can shrink slightly and lose some colour in washing. Write your own limit into the order, test it to EN ISO 5077 on washed garments by a named ISO 6330 procedure, and approve the size set after the wash, not before.

Do stretch trousers need different tests?

Yes. Measure stretch and recovery to EN ISO 20932-1 on the finished fabric, and agree a seam slippage method made for stretch, since ISO 13936-1 is not suitable for stretch fabrics. Cut so the stretch runs round the leg, where it is needed most.

Which pleats should tailored trousers have?

Your choice: none, one, two or three, facing either way. Forward pleats open towards the crotch; reverse pleats open towards the pockets and are typical of khakis and corduroy. Name the count and direction on the sketch, so the seller does not have to guess.

Can you supply shorts and dungarees as well?

Yes. Shorts, breeches and bib and brace overalls share the trouser lines in the customs tariff and are briefed the same way: a sketch, the fabric, a size chart with rise and inseam, and the trims. For dungarees, add the bib, strap and hardware details.

How soon will I hear back about women's wear?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.

Who do I deal with?
