Buying jumpsuits in Bangladesh

A jumpsuit is a top and trousers joined at the waist, so it has to fit in two places at once. Brands abroad and at home order them in woven and knitted fabric. A jumpsuit manufacturer in Bangladesh needs your full measurement chart, not only the top or the trouser half.

Roptan runs the order: we match each style to a verified seller that already makes one-pieces in your fabric, have the fabric tested, approve torso and rise on each graded size, check the crotch seam and zip early in sewing and inspect the bulk before it leaves.

Kinds of jumpsuit

Formal jumpsuits

Usually in silk or polyester blends, since cotton and linen give a more casual look. Choose them for evening and occasion ranges, and approve the drape in the actual fabric.

Denim jumpsuits

A one-piece in denim. Dungarees, or bib-and-brace overalls, are a separate garment, named with trousers in the tariff, and a low bib on detachable straps can tip a style towards trousers, so show the bib height.

Belted and flared jumpsuits

Flared styles have wide leg openings; belted styles read dressy or casual depending on the material. Give belt width, loop positions and whether the belt is in self fabric.

Short jumpsuits and playsuits

A playsuit is a one-piece like a jumpsuit but with short legs. Light linen suits casual short styles; give inseam and leg opening along with the torso measurements.

Knitted jumpsuits

Sweatshirt-style jumpsuits in knitted fabric, often with tapered ankles and a drawstring. Knitted and woven jumpsuits are classified apart, so name the construction on the brief.

How to brief a jumpsuit manufacturer in Bangladesh

Points of measure
Bust, waist, hip, top length, total length, shoulder, sleeve, hem, arm opening, inseam, knee, rise and thigh, each with a tolerance.
Torso and rise together
On a one-piece the rise has to agree with the top length; a short torso usually makes the jumpsuit pull when the wearer stands. Grade them together.
Fabric and weight
Fibre blend, weave or knit and g/m2. Tropical weights of about 153 to 288 g/m2 suit hot weather; bottom-weights of about 237 to 305 suit heavier styles.
Fibre and supply route
Woven garments here increasingly use polyester, nylon and viscose. State the blend on the first brief, since the supply route follows the fibre.
Closures and details
Zip type, length and position, or a button front, plus any belt, drawstring or open back.

Tests for jumpsuits

ISO 13935-2 and the crotch seam
The grab method for seam strength covers straight seams only, not curved ones, so agree a garment-level test for the crotch and armholes.
ISO 13936-1 and ISO 13936-2
Seam slippage in woven fabric, by fixed seam opening or fixed load. Part 1 does not suit stretch fabric, so name another method for stretch styles.
EN 1811
Nickel release from metal buttons, rivets and hooks in prolonged skin contact; the EU limit is usually given as 0.5 micrograms per square centimetre per week.
ISO 105-C06, E04 and X12
Colour fastness to washing, perspiration and rubbing, graded on grey scales. The pass grades are yours to set.

What moves the price of a jumpsuit

  • Fabric: the quote follows what the style needs, from silk or polyester blends for formal jumpsuits to light linen for short casual ones.
  • Fit: a one-piece must fit at bust and crotch at once, which can mean extra fit rounds before approval.
  • Trims: zips, belts, drawstrings and metal hardware each add parts and steps.
  • Fabric route: much woven fabric is imported, adding freight and time; knitted fabric is more often local.

Lead times and delivery

Sampling is the part to plan for. Torso and rise have to be settled across the size set before bulk is cut, which can take a second fit round, and woven styles then wait for imported fabric. Knitted jumpsuits on fabric in stock usually move faster. The minimum depends on the style and the number of colours. Roptan confirms the sample calendar, dates and minimums in the quote.

Jumpsuits go folded flat in cartons, or full length on hangers in poly bags inside the carton; say which, since it changes the carton count. Roptan delivers inside Bangladesh with the packing list, the inspection report and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3).

Buying jumpsuits for export

Jumpsuits have no line of their own in Bangladesh's export data. For customs they usually fall under the 'other garments' headings, 6211 when woven and 6114 when knitted, not the dress or trouser headings; your customs broker confirms the code. We quote FOB Chattogram, or by air from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

What we check for this order

  • Torso and rise on every sizeWe measure top length, total length and rise together on each size in the size set before bulk is cut.
  • Fabric before cuttingWe check GSM, relaxation time and the approved shade band on the bulk fabric before cutting starts.
  • Crotch seam and zipOn the first sewn jumpsuits we check the crotch seam, the zip and the waist join, before a fault runs through the order.
  • Final AQL inspectionBulk inspected by ISO 2859-1 sampling, usually at AQL 2.5 major and 4.0 minor; a rise out of tolerance or a stuck zip is major.

Questions buyers ask

Why does a jumpsuit pull when the wearer stands?

Usually because the torso is too short for the rise. On a one-piece the two must agree, so grade them together and check them across the size set; if the torso length changes, the crotch length usually has to change with it.

Jumpsuit, playsuit or dungarees: what is the difference?

A jumpsuit is a one-piece with legs; a playsuit is the same idea with short legs. Dungarees, or bib-and-brace overalls, have a bib and straps and are named in the trouser headings for customs, while jumpsuits usually fall under other garments. Name the type on the brief.

Which fabric suits a formal jumpsuit?

Usually silk or a polyester blend, since cotton and linen give a more casual look. Woven formal fabric is often imported, so book it early, and approve the drape on a sample in the actual fabric before the bulk fabric is ordered.

Does sampling take longer for a jumpsuit?

It can. Torso and rise have to agree on every size of the size set, and a style that pulls at the crotch goes back for another fit round. Roptan sets out the sample calendar in the quote, so plan it into your launch date and leave room for a second round.

How soon will I hear back about women's wear?
