Buying suits and co-ords in Bangladesh
A suit or co-ord sells as a set: every piece must match in fabric, shade and size, and a set can be classified differently from its pieces sold apart. Buyers abroad and brands at home order both. A suit and co-ord manufacturer in Bangladesh needs to know which way you sell.
Roptan runs the order: we match each style to a verified seller used to your fabric and pieces, have the fabric tested, check that all pieces come from the approved shade lot, approve fit on every size and inspect the sets before they leave.
How to brief a suit and co-ord manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Set or separates
- Say whether the pieces sell as one retail set or apart, with a size ratio for each piece. It changes packing, labelling and classification.
- Jacket points of measure
- Chest and shoulder first, since the shoulder decides a tailored fit, then length, sleeve, cuff, waist and hem; bottoms take skirt or trouser points.
- Fabric and weight
- Identical fabric, colour and composition on every piece. Tropical weights of about 153 to 288 g/m2 suit hot weather; all-season suits about 237 to 305.
- Lining and fusing
- Name the lining fibre and where fused interfacing goes. US labels show a lining's fibre separately when it is there for warmth rather than structure.
- Shade lots
- Every piece of a set cut from one approved lot, or a shade band, since separate pieces meant to match can vary.
Tests for suits and matching sets
- ISO 105-J03
- Calculates the colour difference between two specimens of the same material: use it to accept shade between jacket and bottom.
- EN ISO 3175-2 and ISO 105-D01
- Cleaning performance in tetrachloroethene, and colour fastness to dry cleaning. Fused parts should look unchanged after cleaning.
- ISO 13935-1 and ISO 13935-2
- Seam strength by strip or grab method. The current Part 2 covers straight seams only, so armhole and crotch seams need an agreed test.
- EN ISO 5077 with ISO 6330
- Shrinkage in washing and drying for washable sets. Test each piece, since a top and bottom that shrink differently stop matching.
Lead times and delivery
A set ships when its last piece is ready. Every piece is cut from one approved fabric lot, so the whole set waits for that booking, and lined woven suits also wait for imported fabric. Knitted sets on fabric in stock usually move faster. Fit, size set and pre-production approval come before bulk. Ask whether a minimum counts per piece, colour or size. Roptan confirms dates and minimums in the quote.
Suits can travel full length on hangers in poly bags; co-ords can go folded flat in cartons, as sets or as separate pieces. We deliver inside Bangladesh to your warehouse or store with the packing list, the inspection report and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3).
Buying suits and co-ords for export
Women's suits sit in subheadings 6204.11 to 6204.19 (woven) and 6104.13 and 6104.19 (knitted), ensembles in 6204.21 to 6204.29 and 6104.22 to 6104.29, and jackets and blazers sold alone in 6204.31 to 6204.39 and 6104.31 to 6104.39; your broker decides which applies. We quote FOB Chattogram or air freight from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Questions buyers ask
Is a co-ord a suit for customs?
Only if it has a jacket whose outer shell, sleeves aside, has four or more panels, with a lower garment in identical fabric, colour and composition. A top-and-bottom set without one may be judged against the tariff's 'ensemble' rule instead. Your customs broker decides which applies.
What if a jacket ships with both a skirt and trousers?
For a women's suit, the tariff counts the skirt or divided skirt as the lower garment and classifies the trousers separately. Tell us early, so the seller tickets and packs the pieces the way your broker and your invoice expect.
How do you keep jacket and bottoms the same shade?
By cutting every piece of a set from one approved fabric lot and checking it against your lab dip or shade band. Where lots must mix, colour difference can be measured to ISO 105-J03. Off-shade pieces count as a major defect at final inspection.
Can we sell the blazer and bottoms as separates?
Yes. A blazer sold alone is classified as a jacket and the bottoms by their own type, each with its own size ratio and label. If they are worn together, still cut them from one fabric lot and say so on the order.
How soon will I hear back about women's wear?
Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.
Who do I deal with?
