Buying polyethylene granules in Bangladesh

Polyethylene granules are the resin that converters here melt into film, bags, bottles, containers and water pipe. Film and bag work usually takes LDPE or LLDPE, while bottles and water pipe take HDPE. No virgin polyethylene producer was found in Bangladesh in the sources we checked, so expect a polyethylene granule supplier in Bangladesh to offer imported resin.

Roptan sources the grade you name from verified importers and stockists, tells you the producing country, and puts each offer on the same basis: melt flow at stated conditions, density, additives and packing. We check the lot against your limits and deliver it.

Kinds of polyethylene granule

LDPE

Density about 0.910 to 0.940 g/cm³. Used for film, bags, wrap film and rigid containers. Choose it for general packaging film and containers.

LLDPE

Density 0.915 to 0.925 g/cm³, used mostly for film because it is tough, flexible and fairly transparent. Choose it for packaging and stretch film.

MDPE

Density 0.926 to 0.940 g/cm³. Used for gas pipes and fittings, sacks, shrink and packaging film, carrier bags and screw closures.

HDPE

Density 0.941 g/cm³ and above, for bottles, detergent containers, tubs, waste bins and water pipe. Pressure pipe grades are often sold as PE100.

Reprocessed granules

Recycled HDPE and LDPE granules sold for moulding, film and pipe. They are a separate product with their own checks, so state virgin only or the recycled share you allow.

How to specify a polyethylene granule

Type and process
LDPE, LLDPE, MDPE or HDPE, and the process: blown film, blow moulding, injection moulding or pipe extrusion. The grade follows the process.
Melt flow rate
A range, not one value, at stated conditions: polyethylene is usually tested at 190 °C, often under a 2.16 kg load.
Density
A range in g/cm³. Density that drifts from the data sheet points to blending, filler or a different polymer.
Colour and additives
Natural, black, white or a custom colour, and UV, slip or antiblock additives, usually added as masterbatch at about 1 to 5 percent.
Virgin or recycled
Virgin only, or the recycled share allowed and a maximum ash, since low-priced granules can carry calcium carbonate filler.
Food and water contact
Whether the product touches food, medicine or drinking water, so the seller supplies the right compliance papers.

Test methods and standards for polyethylene

ISO 1133-1 and ISO 1183-1
Melt flow and density of thermoplastics, the two values that fix a polyethylene grade. Ask for both, with test conditions, on every certificate.
ISO 17855-1
The designation system for polyethylene moulding and extrusion materials. Ask the seller to state the grade in it so offers compare.
ISO 3451-1
Ash content of plastics, the check for calcium carbonate filler. Use it when a price looks low or the granule is reprocessed.
BDS 1910:2016
BSTI's standard for polyethylene in contact with foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals and drinking water. Ask whether the grade meets it before food or water use here.
21 CFR 177.1520 and Regulation (EU) No 10/2011
Food-contact rules for olefin polymers in the US and for plastics in the EU. Ask for the producer's compliance letter for export packaging.

What moves the price of a polyethylene granule

  • World markets: polyethylene procurement prices rose in mid-2026 after the Middle East crisis and an energy supply crunch.
  • Import costs: imported virgin granules move with the exchange rate and sea freight.
  • Grade: film, blow moulding and pipe grades are priced apart from general moulding grades.
  • Virgin or reprocessed: reprocessed granules are priced apart from virgin, and natural recyclate above strongly coloured.

Lead times and delivery

No figure can be quoted in advance. Grades in an importer's stock here move fastest; a grade ordered from a producer abroad waits on production, sea freight and clearance at Chattogram, and a film or moulding trial adds time before bulk. Overseas sellers often quote virgin granules by the container, while stock lots can be smaller. Roptan confirms the dates and the minimum in the quote.

Roptan delivers to your plant anywhere in Bangladesh, usually in 25 kg bags with the lot number on each. You receive the certificate of analysis, the safety data sheet, a packing list and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3), and the papers name the producing country. Keep bags dry and covered in the monsoon.

What we check for this order

  • Melt flow and densityWe check both against your ranges and the stated test conditions, since together they fix the grade.
  • Ash on low-priced lotsWhere a price looks low or the lot is reprocessed, we have ash measured to find calcium carbonate filler.
  • Producer and lotWe match the producer's grade and the bag lot numbers to the certificate, and confirm the producing country.
  • Trial before bulkWe get you a sample for a film or moulding trial on your machine before the bulk order.

Questions buyers ask

Is polyethylene made in Bangladesh?

No virgin polyethylene producer was found in any source we checked; film, bag, pipe and moulding plants here convert imported resin. The local supply is recycled granules made from scrap, a different product. Roptan names the producing country on every offer.

LDPE or LLDPE for film?

LLDPE is used mostly for film because it is tough, flexible and fairly transparent; LDPE suits bags, wrap film and containers. Tell us the film, its use and your line, and fix melt flow and density as ranges for whichever type you choose.

Which grade suits water pipe?

HDPE, at 0.941 g/cm³ and above, is used for water pipe, and pressure pipe grades are often sold as PE100. Finished HDPE water pipe is commonly made to ISO 4427. Ask for the pipe grade's data sheet and its melt flow at stated conditions.

How do we spot filler in low-priced granules?

Ask for ash to ISO 3451-1 and density to ISO 1183-1. Ash shows calcium carbonate, and density that drifts from the data sheet points to filler, blending or another polymer. Run a trial on your machine before you accept bulk.

How soon will I hear back about polymers and resins?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.
