Buying PCB assemblies in Bangladesh

A PCB assembly is a bare printed circuit board with its parts soldered on, ready to fit into a product. Bangladesh assembles phones, televisions and appliances at scale, mostly from imported parts, and board assembly usually takes place inside those plants. Buyers are product makers who need control, power or driver boards built to their own design.

Board faults hide well: a package cracked by trapped moisture, a weak joint under a BGA, a re-marked chip. When you look for a PCB assembly manufacturer in Bangladesh through Roptan, we place the build with a verified assembler, ask where each chip was bought, check moisture control and the first boards, and deliver.

Kinds of PCB assembly

Surface-mount (SMT) assemblies

Solder paste is printed on the pads through a stencil, parts are placed by machine and the board passes through a reflow oven. Choose it for volume and small, dense parts.

Through-hole assemblies

Leaded parts go through drilled holes and are soldered, usually on a wave machine. Choose it when the design uses leaded parts; one-off prototypes are often cheaper soldered by hand.

Mixed-technology assemblies

Both kinds of part on one board: reflow first, then wave soldering, with underside parts sometimes glued before the wave. Choose it when the design needs both.

Flexible and rigid-flex assemblies

Built on flexible or part-flexible boards, which IPC-6013 covers, instead of rigid boards under IPC-6012. Choose it when the board must bend to fit.

How to brief a PCB assembly manufacturer in Bangladesh

Bare board
Rigid, flexible or rigid-flex; the base material, usually FR-4 glass epoxy; the layer count; and the IPC-6012 or IPC-6013 class the board maker builds to.
Class and revision
Write IPC-A-610J and the class into the order. Classes 1 and 2 usually serve consumer goods, Class 3 industrial use.
Moisture-sensitive parts
List each plastic package's moisture sensitivity level (MSL). At 30 °C and 60 percent humidity, floor life is typically one year at MSL 2, 168 hours at MSL 3 and 72 hours at MSL 4.
Coating
Name the material, the thickness and the connectors and test points to keep clear. IPC guidance is usually 30 to 130 micrometres for acrylic, epoxy and urethane, and 50 to 210 for silicone.
ESD control
Ask for the assembler's written electrostatic discharge programme to IEC 61340-5-1 or ANSI/ESD S20.20, covering work areas, handling and packing.
Tests and fixtures
List the tests every board must pass: optical inspection after reflow, X-ray for BGA joints, in-circuit and functional test, with pass criteria.

Standards, tests and paperwork for PCB assembly

IPC-A-610J and IPC J-STD-001J
Accept and reject criteria for finished assemblies, and the soldering requirements behind them. Revision J replaced H of September 2020; ask which revision the line inspects to.
IPC-6012F and IPC-A-600
The performance specification for rigid bare boards, and the acceptability criteria for printed boards. Ask which the board maker works to.
IPC/JEDEC J-STD-020F and J-STD-033D
J-STD-020F sets each surface-mount part's moisture sensitivity level; J-STD-033D sets dry packing, floor life and baking. Ask how floor life is logged once a bag is opened.
RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU
For lead-free builds sold in the EU, most restricted substances are limited to 0.1 percent by weight in each homogeneous material, cadmium to 0.01 percent. Ask for a declaration per build.

What moves the price of a PCB assembly

  • Memory: DRAM and flash prices rose in the shortage that began in 2025, so a board with memory needs a dated quote.
  • Assembly method: SMT lends itself to machine volume, while one-off prototypes are often cheaper soldered by hand.
  • BGA packages: their hidden joints need X-ray inspection, which is costly, or electrical testing in its place.
  • Coating: masking, applying the film and measuring thickness are extra steps on each board.
  • Part source: parts of uncertain origin may need counterfeit screening, such as X-ray, decapsulation, parametric or solderability tests.

Lead times and delivery

We give no figure here: we found no reliable range for builds placed in Bangladesh, and the time depends on your parts. One long-lead chip usually sets the date more than assembly does. New test fixtures, coating and first-article approval add time. Roptan confirms the dates and any minimum in the quote.

Boards with moisture-sensitive parts usually travel in sealed moisture barrier bags with desiccant and a moisture indicator card, inside ESD-safe packing. We count boards against the packing list and hand over test records by lot or serial and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3). A circuit board does not appear on BSTI's mandatory certification list of 3 June 2025, though the finished product may.

What we check for this order

  • Where the chips were boughtWe ask where each IC was bought and for its lot and date codes, since sanded and re-marked chips are a known counterfeit.
  • Floor-life recordsWe check that opened moisture-sensitive reels are logged, then resealed with desiccant or baked, because humid air shortens their safe exposure.
  • First boards to IPC-A-610JWe have the first boards inspected to the class in your order, with X-ray on any BGA, before the batch is built.
  • Coating and test coverageWe confirm coating thickness and keep-clear areas, and that every board passed the agreed in-circuit or functional test.

Questions buyers ask

Are bare circuit boards made in Bangladesh?

We found little sign of it. EPB records only small exports of printed circuits, and the country's phone, television and appliance plants work mostly from imported parts. Expect imported bare boards and chips; we tell you in the quote where they come from.

How long can moisture-sensitive parts stay out of their bag?

It depends on the level printed on the bag: typically 168 hours at MSL 3 and 72 hours at MSL 4. Past that, moisture in the package can turn to vapour in reflow and crack it. The parts must then be baked; one worked example is 27 hours at 120 °C.

Which revision of IPC-A-610 should my order name?

The current one, IPC-A-610J, which replaced IPC-A-610H of September 2020. Write the letter and the class into the order, because accept and reject criteria change between revisions. If the assembler still inspects to H, agree in writing which criteria apply.

Do my boards need conformal coating?

Usually yes if the product will sit in humid or dirty air. Bangladesh has a tropical monsoon climate, with summer highs of 38 to 41 °C and wet months from June to September. Choose acrylic, silicone, urethane or parylene, and mark connectors and test points to keep clear.

How soon will I hear back about electronic components?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.

Who do I deal with?

With Roptan, when Roptan manages the order: we buy from the verified seller and deliver to you. With the supplier directly, when you post on the requirement board and choose a quote yourself.
