Buying computer accessories in Bangladesh
Computer accessories cover chargers and power adaptors, cables, power banks, keyboards, mice and extension sets. In Bangladesh, chargers are made locally, some by phone makers, and computers are assembled here, but we found no local production of keyboards, mice, hubs or cables, so these are usually imported. Buyers are IT distributors, retailers, offices and companies ordering under their own logo.
The risk sits in the parts you cannot see: cells, charger circuits, cable chips. When you look for a computer accessory manufacturer in Bangladesh through Roptan, we source from verified sellers, match each safety report to the exact model, test samples and deliver. You deal with Roptan only.
How to brief a computer accessory manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Charger rating
- Output power, voltages and connector, and the mains input range. Load shedding in August 2026 was reported beyond 2023 crisis levels, so ask how the charger handles unstable supply.
- Cable speed and power
- State data speed and power rating separately. USB Power Delivery's extended range allows up to 240 W (48 V, 5 A), and only a correctly e-marked cable carries it.
- Power bank capacity
- Give capacity in watt-hours and as delivered at the output voltage, with the test method. Cell capacity alone overstates what reaches the phone.
- Power bank size
- For carry-on use, US rules allow 100 Wh on passenger aircraft, and 101 to 160 Wh only with the airline's approval.
- Logos and private label
- Name every logo on the product and box. A USB-IF logo needs a certification record; a logo without one is a warning sign.
Standards, reports and the BSTI licence
- IEC 62368-1
- Safety of audio, video and ICT equipment up to 600 V. Edition 4.0 of 26 May 2023 replaced the 2018 edition; ask for the report on the exact charger model.
- IEC 62133-2 and UN 38.3
- Safety of portable lithium cells and batteries, power banks included, and the transport tests every lithium cell must pass, with the test summary.
- BDS IEC 60884 and the BSTI licence
- Plugs and socket-outlets, adaptors (Part 2-5) and cord extension sets (Part 2-7) are on BSTI's mandatory list of 3 June 2025. USB chargers, power banks, keyboards and mice are not.
- IEC 62680-1-3 and USB-IF certification
- The IEC adoption of the USB Type-C specification, and the USB Implementers Forum record that lets a cable or charger carry the official logos.
Lead times and delivery
We give no figure here: we found no reliable range for accessory orders in Bangladesh. Stock items move faster than private-label orders, which need a logo sample and, for a new model, new safety reports. Power banks take longer to ship as dangerous goods. Roptan confirms the dates and any minimum in the quote.
We deliver to your warehouse, stores or offices anywhere in Bangladesh. By air, power banks ship as UN 3480 at no more than 30 percent state of charge, with a shipper's declaration for dangerous goods. You receive the safety reports per model, a copy of the BSTI licence for extension sets and adaptors, and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3).
Questions buyers ask
Are computer accessories made in Bangladesh?
Some are. Chargers are made locally, some by phone makers, and computers are assembled here. We found no local production of keyboards, mice, USB hubs or cables, so these are usually imported. We tell you in the quote where each item comes from.
Why does a power bank deliver less than its label?
The label usually gives the capacity of the internal cells at about 3.7 V, while the output runs at 5 V. In theory that leaves 74 percent of the rating, and one tested 26,800 mAh unit delivered 15,682 mAh. Ask for watt-hours and delivered capacity.
Do USB chargers need a BSTI licence?
Not as the list stood on 3 June 2025. BSTI's mandatory list covers mains plugs, socket-outlets, adaptors and cord extension sets under BDS IEC 60884, and insulated flexible cords, but not USB chargers, power banks, keyboards, mice or USB cables. We check the list again at quote time.
Can staff carry the power banks we order on flights?
Usually, if they are small enough. Spare power banks travel in carry-on baggage only, and US rules allow up to 100 Wh, or 101 to 160 Wh with airline approval. Check your airline's own rule before you choose the capacity.
How soon will I hear back about electronic components?
Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.
Who do I deal with?
With Roptan, when Roptan manages the order: we buy from the verified seller and deliver to you. With the supplier directly, when you post on the requirement board and choose a quote yourself.
