Buying CCTV and security systems in Bangladesh

Factories, warehouses, banks, hospitals, shopping malls, apartment buildings and offices in Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj and Chattogram (Chittagong) buy CCTV to watch gates, stores and floors, access control to limit who enters, and attendance machines to log shifts. Malls, hotels and event venues add walk through metal detectors at entrances, and shops use EAS tags and gates against theft. Most new projects now choose IP cameras recording to an NVR.

A CCTV camera supplier in Bangladesh often quotes a box count; what you need is a system that records the right picture for the right number of days. Tell us the areas, what each camera must show and how long you keep footage. We turn it into one specification, source from verified sellers, check models and documents, and deliver to site. The seller installs and commissions the system. You deal with Roptan only.

CCTV and security systems we source

IP and CCTV cameras

IP cameras send digital video over a network to a recorder; analogue CCTV cameras run on coaxial cable. Choose IP for new buildings, and analogue mainly to extend an existing coaxial system. Outdoor cameras need a sealed housing, usually rated IP66 or IP67.

NVR and DVR recorders

An NVR records IP cameras and a DVR records analogue ones. Size it by channel count, resolution and the days you must keep, and ask for surveillance-rated drives built for continuous writing and for H.265 recording.

Access control systems

Controllers, readers, electric locks and software that decide who opens which door and when. Credentials can be an RFID card, a PIN, a fingerprint or a face, and large sites often combine two. State door count, lock type and how doors release in a fire alarm.

Biometric attendance machines

Terminals that log each person's in and out times for payroll, by fingerprint, face or card. Check user and log capacity, the export format, that the software reads into your payroll, and how biometric records are consented and kept.

Walk through metal detectors

An archway that alarms when a person carrying metal walks through, used at mall, hotel, factory and event entrances. Ask for the number of detection zones, adjustable sensitivity, indoor or outdoor use and power backup, and test it on site before handover.

EAS security tags and gates

Tags on goods set off a gate at the shop exit unless removed or deactivated at the till. Tags, gates and deactivators must share one technology: radio frequency systems usually work at 8.2 MHz and acousto-magnetic systems at about 58 kHz.

What to tell a CCTV camera supplier in Bangladesh

What each camera must show
Say whether it must detect movement, recognise a face or read a number plate, and at what distance. That sets resolution and lens.
Retention and storage
State how many days of footage you must keep. Daily storage is camera count times bitrate times the seconds in a day, so ask the seller to show that sum for your resolution, frame rate and compression.
Outdoor heat, rain and humidity
Summer maxima usually reach 38 to 41 °C and most rain falls in the June to September monsoon. Ask for IP66 or IP67 housings, sun shields, drip loops at cable entries and a rated operating temperature that covers your site.
Power and backup
Say whether cameras take power through the network cable (PoE) or separate adaptors. Put the recorder, network switches and cameras on a UPS with surge protection, so a power cut does not leave a gap in recording.
Network and remote viewing
Say whether you need viewing on phones, who holds the administrator passwords, and whether the camera network is kept apart from the office network.
Wired or wireless
Wired cameras are the default. Wireless and 4G units carry a radio, which brings BTRC import paperwork, so ask before choosing them.
Biometric data
Attendance and face recognition collect biometric data, which the Personal Data Protection Ordinance 2025 treats as sensitive and requires explicit consent to collect. Plan consent, retention and access before installation.

Standards, approvals and paperwork for security systems

IEC 62676 series
The international series for video surveillance in security applications: system requirements, video transmission and IP interoperability, application guidelines and camera image quality. Ask which parts the system design follows.
IP rating under IEC 60529
The first digit rates dust, with 6 meaning dust-tight, and the second rates water. IP67 allows immersion in 1 m of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. Check the rating on the datasheet of the exact model.
BTRC clearance for radio equipment
For wireless cameras, 4G units and radio frequency parts, the importer holds a BTRC importer and vendor enlistment certificate and, as importers report, obtains a No Objection Certificate before each shipment arrives.
Personal Data Protection Ordinance 2025
Gazetted in November 2025, it treats biometric data as sensitive personal data needing informed, explicit consent. Certain sections take effect 18 months after the gazette notice. Plan attendance and face recognition records with this in mind.

What moves the price of a CCTV system

  • Resolution, lens and low-light performance: higher resolution and better night images cost more per camera and need more storage.
  • Storage: days of retention, channel count and surveillance-rated drives can cost as much as the cameras themselves.
  • Housing: outdoor IP66 or IP67, vandal-resistant domes and PTZ cameras cost more than indoor plastic models.
  • Cabling and installation: cable length, conduit, poles, network switches and the UPS are often left out of a box price.
  • Warranty and service: a yearly maintenance visit and replacement terms make a quote dearer than a bare price, and worth more.

Lead times and delivery

Common cameras, recorders and attendance machines are often held in stock in Dhaka. Large orders of one model, specialist cameras, access control hardware and metal detectors may be imported to order, customs clearance adds time, and wireless units can wait on BTRC paperwork. Installation depends on how ready the site is. Roptan confirms dates and any minimum quantity for each order in the quote.

We deliver across Bangladesh, from Savar to Sylhet. The seller runs the cabling, mounts and aims each camera, sets recording and retention, enrols users on access and attendance terminals, and commissions the system with you. You receive a camera schedule with locations and network addresses, administrator passwords handed to your nominee, the warranty and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3).

What we check for this order

  • Trade licence in the quoted nameCurrent, and in the same name as the quote, so the VAT invoice, warranty and service contract come from the business you pay.
  • Models match the datasheetsEach camera, recorder and terminal checked against its datasheet for resolution, IP rating and storage, and against BTRC papers for any wireless unit.
  • Warranty and service termsReplacement period, hard drive cover, yearly maintenance and response time for faults included or priced, in writing.
  • Installation and commissioningCabling, mounting, configuration, user training and a recorded test of every camera included or priced, with the handover documents listed.

Questions buyers ask

Should I buy IP cameras or analogue CCTV?

For a new building, usually IP cameras with an NVR: higher resolution and easier expansion. Analogue cameras with a DVR still make sense when you extend an existing coaxial system and want to reuse the cable. Tell us what is installed today and we compare both.

How much recording storage do I need?

It depends on camera count, resolution, frame rate, motion in the scene and the days you keep. H.265 recording usually needs about half the storage of H.264. Give us the retention period and the seller sizes the drives to it, showing the sum.

Do wireless cameras need any approval in Bangladesh?

Wireless, Wi-Fi and 4G units contain a radio. As importers describe the practice, the importer holds a BTRC enlistment certificate and obtains a No Objection Certificate before each shipment. We check that paperwork for any radio model we source. Wired cameras carry no radio, one reason most projects stay wired.

Can we use fingerprint or face attendance machines?

They are widely used, but plan for privacy. The Personal Data Protection Ordinance 2025 treats biometric data as sensitive and calls for informed, explicit consent before collection. Tell staff what is recorded and why, and keep records only as long as needed. Card readers avoid biometrics altogether.

Can you supply EAS gates that work with our existing tags?

Yes, once we know the technology. Radio frequency systems usually run at 8.2 MHz and acousto-magnetic systems at about 58 kHz, and the two do not mix. Send a photo of a tag and the label on your gate, and we source matching gates, tags and deactivators.

How soon will I hear back about CCTV and security systems?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.

Who do I deal with?

With Roptan, when Roptan manages the order: we buy from the verified seller and deliver to you. With the supplier directly, when you post on the requirement board and choose a quote yourself.
