Buying panties in Bangladesh

A panty is a front and a back joined at the crotch and sides, with an elastic waistband, elastic leg openings and a gusset, usually lined in cotton. Importers, retailers and private label brands buy panties singly, in multipacks and as sets with bras; shops in Bangladesh buy everyday cotton styles.

With so few parts, a panty's quality sits in the fabric, the gusset and the edges. Roptan places your order with a verified seller, writes cut, gusset and elastic finish into the spec, has fabric tested and inspects the bulk before it ships.

Kinds of panty

Full and high-cut briefs

Full briefs sit high on the waist with small leg holes, covering most of the area between waist and thigh; high-cut versions have larger leg holes and narrower sides. Choose them for everyday cotton multipacks.

Bikini and hipster panties

Moderate rear coverage, sitting at the hip. A hipster is the step between a bikini and boyshorts. Choose them for core retail ranges in cotton or microfibre.

Thongs and tangas

A tanga sits at the hip with moderate rear coverage; a thong keeps a similar waistband with the rear mostly cut away. Choose them for close-fitting clothes and lace ranges.

Boyshorts

Cover the hips and most of the seat, and are named for their likeness to boxer briefs. Choose them for comfort and lounge ranges, and give the leg length in centimetres.

Circular-knit panties

Often microfibre, knitted on circular machines so tight clothes sit smooth without a visible edge. They are normally free only of side seams: the gusset and edges are still sewn or finished.

Details a panty manufacturer in Bangladesh needs

Cut by drawing
Give a drawing with rise, side width and rear coverage in centimetres. Names such as bikini, hipster and tanga overlap and vary between brands.
Gusset
Name the gusset fabric and its fibre content apart from the outer fabric; a cotton jersey gusset is common even in lace and microfibre pairs.
Edges and elastic
State the elastic width, the stitch type and stitches per centimetre, and the edge finish, such as foldover elastic that encases the raw edge.
Fabric and weight
Fibre, elastane share and weight in g/m2. Lace, mesh and fine microfibre usually sit at about 34 to 102 g/m2, jersey basics at about 136 to 203.
Sets and sizes
For panties matched to a bra, list the shared lace, elastic and fabric so they come from the same lots. Core sizes usually run XS to XL.

Tests and labelling for panties

EN ISO 20932-1 and EN ISO 20932-3
Elasticity of the main fabric by strip test and of waistband and leg elastics as narrow fabrics. Set force and recovery values on the approved sample.
ISO 105-E04, ISO 105-C06 and ISO 105-X12
Colour fastness to perspiration, laundering and rubbing, for dark jersey, lace and printed elastic next to a light gusset.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100, product class 2
Covers products in direct skin contact. Certificates run for one year, so check the number and expiry against the panty fabric, lace and elastic used.
US 16 CFR 303.33 and 16 CFR 423.6
For the US, each imported panty carries the country of manufacture and a care label that can be seen or easily found, in words or ASTM D5489 symbols.

What moves the price of a panty

  • Fabric: lace is an expensive material, and raschel is the lace found at lower price points.
  • Parts: a basic panty needs one main fabric and one elastic, so the choice of those two carries much of the price.
  • Elastic: a printed or jacquard waistband elastic is a separate bought-in part.
  • Gusset: a separate cotton jersey gusset adds a second fabric and a sewing step.
  • Packing: multipack cards, hangers, hangtags and barcodes are priced per pack.

Lead times and delivery

Plain styles in stock jersey and stock elastic move faster. Lace and elastic dyed to match a bra, printed or jacquard waistbands and all-over prints take longer, and each change after a fit sample adds a round. Minimums depend on the same inputs. Roptan confirms the dates and the minimum in the quote.

Inside Bangladesh, Roptan delivers to your warehouse, shops or online dispatch point, with each pair bagged or packed in the multipack or hanger format set in the order, sorted by style, size and colour. The goods come with the packing list, lab reports, the final inspection report and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3).

Buying panties for export

Knitted panties enter under HS 6108.21 (cotton), 6108.22 (man-made fibres) or 6108.29 (other fibres). Woven panties fall under the 'other' subheadings of 6208, which also hold robes and similar articles, so name the panty on the invoice. The UK tariff has a separate line for a retail set of a bra and briefs. Roptan quotes FOB Chattogram.

What we check for this order

  • Gusset as specifiedWe check the gusset fabric and fibre on the pre-production sample and in bulk against the spec, not only the outer fabric.
  • Leg and waist elastic stitchingWe check the stitch type and density that hold the elastic, and that raw elastic ends are sealed.
  • Set colour matchFor bra and panty sets, we compare panty lace, elastic and fabric with the bra under the same light before packing.
  • Final AQL inspectionRandom inspection to ISO 2859-1, usually AQL 2.5 major and 4.0 minor, covering edges, gusset seams, labels and pack counts.

Questions buyers ask

What is the difference between a bikini, a hipster and boyshorts?

Rear coverage and how they sit. A bikini sits at the hip with moderate coverage; a hipster sits between a bikini and boyshorts; boyshorts cover the hips and most of the seat. The names overlap between brands, so send a drawing with measurements in centimetres.

Are circular-knit panties free of seams?

Usually only of side seams. A circular-knitted body has none at the sides, but the gusset still needs sewing and the edges still need finishing. Ask the seller to mark where seams and finished edges remain, and approve a sample before bulk.

Which stitch should attach the leg elastic?

Usually a three-point zigzag, which can be set wider than a plain zigzag without the threads catching or breaking. A lockstitch is a poor choice as the only stitch holding elastic. Put stitch type, stitches per centimetre and elastic width on the spec.

Can panties be made to match our bras?

Yes. Order the set together and list the lace, elastic and fabric the two share, so they come from the same lots. Buyers often source sets from one seller to keep colour and materials uniform. Approve a bra and panty side by side before bulk.

How soon will I hear back about lingerie and underwear?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.
