Buying golf shafts in Bangladesh

A golf shaft is the tapered tube between grip and head, made of steel or of carbon fibre composite, which the trade calls graphite. Shafts usually run from about 34 to 48 inches and weigh 45 to 150 grams, depending on material and length. Club makers, fitters and golf brands buy them loose or in sets with a steady flex progression.

A search for a golf shaft manufacturer in Bangladesh usually starts with a flex letter, but makers usually set their own letter scales, so two R shafts can bend differently. Roptan ties the order to measured numbers instead: grams, degrees and cycles per minute. We source from verified makers and test the bulk against the approved sample.

Kinds of golf shaft

Graphite shafts

Usually sheets of carbon fibre prepreg wrapped on a steel mandrel and baked into one tube. Usually much lighter than steel, so the club can be swung faster. Woods and drivers commonly carry graphite.

Steel shafts

A heavier metal tube. By trade practice steel is usually chosen for irons and wedges, where a heavier, firmer feel is wanted. Choose it for iron sets where feel matters more than swing speed.

Low and high kick point shafts

A low kick point stores energy nearer the head and usually allows more head speed, with more twist. A high kick point stores it nearer the grip and usually feels firmer and gives better direction. Mid kick sits between.

Frequency-matched sets

Shafts for a set of up to 14 clubs, the Rules of Golf limit, with a steady frequency progression. Each shaft is usually tested on its own and trimmed or weighted to its place.

How to specify a golf shaft

Layup
For graphite, the fibre grade and the number of prepreg layers set weight and stiffness. Ask the seller to fix both once you approve the sample.
Weight
In grams on the raw shaft, with the tolerance you accept. Weight is usually the first sign that a layup has changed.
Flex and frequency
Give the flex letter (L, A, R, S or X) and kick point, then pin flex to cycles per minute at a stated clamp length and tip weight, with a reference shaft.
Torque
The twist the shaft allows under load, in degrees, with a tolerance. A stiffer shaft usually twists less, and twist at impact can cost accuracy.
Length and tip
Raw length in inches or millimetres, plus tip and butt diameters with tolerances, so the tip fits your heads and bonds into one rigid club.

Rules, tests and papers for golf shafts

R&A and USGA equipment rules
The club design rules cover the club as assembled, shaft included, so a shaft for sanctioned play is judged inside the club your club maker assembles.
Your frequency method
Flex and frequency are tested to the seller's or your own method. Name the clamp length and tip weight in the order, and ask for readings for each shaft.
Bulk weight and torque sheet
Measured weight and torque on shafts from the bulk, set beside the approved sample. A swapped fibre grade or a dropped layer shows up here.

What moves the price of a golf shaft

  • Fibre grade: stiffer, stronger carbon fibre lets the walls be thinner and the shaft lighter at the same stiffness.
  • Weight target: a light shaft at a given stiffness needs higher grade fibre, not just fewer layers.
  • Tolerance: tighter weight, torque and frequency limits mean more shafts sorted out of the lot.
  • Matching: testing and trimming each shaft for matched sets adds work over a lot sold on averages.

Lead times and delivery

Time depends on how far your shaft departs from what the maker already produces. A new layup, a new mandrel, extra sample rounds, per-shaft readings and a custom paint scheme all add time; a current model in a stock finish is quicker. Roptan confirms the dates and the minimum per model and flex in the quote.

Inside Bangladesh we deliver to club makers, fitters and golf shops with the packing list, the weight and frequency sheet and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3), packed so tips and paint do not rub in transit.

Buying golf shafts for export

For importers we quote FOB Chattogram (Chittagong) by sea, or air freight from Dhaka for light, high-value lots. The US tariff lists parts of golf clubs at 9506.39.00.60, under other golf equipment, which is usually where loose shafts go; your customs broker confirms your line. Papers usually cover the invoice, packing list, bill of lading or air waybill, certificate of origin, REX or UK DCTS origin papers, and the per-shaft readings.

What we check for this order

  • Layup in writingWe get the fibre grade and layer count of the approved sample confirmed, since a change shows later as weight or flex drift.
  • Weight on the bulkWe weigh bulk shafts on a calibrated scale against the approved sample and your tolerance.
  • Frequency shaft by shaftWe check the readings for each shaft at your stated clamp and tip weight, not a lot average.
  • Tip fitWe measure tip and butt diameters against your heads, so head and shaft bond into one unit.

Questions buyers ask

Is one maker's S flex the same as another's?

Not necessarily. Flex letters are usually each maker's own bands, not one shared measurement. That is why the order should give frequency in cycles per minute at a stated clamp length and tip weight, plus a reference shaft. Then two batches, or two makers, can be compared on the same numbers.

Should I choose graphite or steel shafts?

Graphite usually weighs considerably less than steel, so the club can be swung faster, and drivers and woods commonly carry it. Steel is heavier and, by trade practice, usually chosen for irons where a firmer feel is wanted. Tell us the club and the player and we can quote both.

What does torque mean on a golf shaft?

Torque is how far the shaft twists under load, in degrees. At impact the head can twist, which can cost accuracy, and a stiffer shaft usually twists less. Ask for torque with a tolerance, measured on shafts from the bulk as well as the sample.

Does a shaft have to conform to the Rules of Golf?

The R&A and USGA rules judge the finished club. A club must be a shaft and a head fixed into one unit with no external attachments, so the tip must fit the head rigidly. Check conformity of the complete club with your club maker.

How soon will I hear back about sports goods?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.
