Buying golf equipment in Bangladesh

Golf equipment covers what a golfer uses besides the shaft: club heads and grips, bags, head covers, gloves and training aids. On recent EPB export records, Bangladesh's golf trade appears under parts and other golf equipment, with no line for complete clubs or balls. Brands and importers buy components for club assembly and packed retail goods; golf shops and clubs in Bangladesh buy bags, gloves and accessories.

Components and packed retail goods are tested and documented differently, so Roptan first sorts your list into the two. As your golf equipment manufacturer in Bangladesh contact, we write each item's materials and rules into the order, source from verified makers and check the sample and the bulk.

Kinds of golf equipment

Club heads

Woods are commonly hollow heads in titanium, composite or steel; irons, wedges and putters are the other families. State whether the set is for sanctioned play.

Grips

Usually a one-piece rubber, synthetic or composite sleeve slid over the shaft and fixed with adhesive. Leather or leather-like wraps over a sleeve are still made, mostly for putters.

Golf bags

Usually sold as carry, light Sunday, stand bags with fold-out legs, cart, staff (the largest class) and padded travel bags. Name the type first, since frame, straps and pockets follow from it.

Head covers

Covers that stop heads knocking together and keep off weather. Driver and fairway wood covers are usually the most common; hybrid, iron and putter covers are also made.

Golf gloves

Sold singly and normally worn on the non-dominant hand to help grip and prevent blisters. Order the left-hand and right-hand split to match your market.

Training aids

Swing trainers, alignment guides and weighted clubs for practice only: the Rules generally bar their use in competitive play, so market them as practice products.

How to specify golf equipment

Components or retail goods
Say whether each item is a part for club assembly or a packed retail product, because tests, labels and the customs line differ.
Club heads
Club type, loft, material and volume, with tolerances. Drivers for sanctioned events are generally limited to 460 cubic centimetres.
Grips
Diameter at stated points along the grip with a tolerance, firmness against a reference sample, texture pattern, weight and core size to fit your shafts.
Bags
Bag type, fabric and denier, lining, frame and base, number of dividers and club sleeves, stand legs, pocket count and zip type.
Gloves
Hand, size range, material and closure, with a sample in each size.
Branding and packing
Logo method and positions approved on the sample, retail packs or bulk cartons, barcodes and the language of care or warning text.

Rules, tests and papers for golf equipment

R&A and USGA Equipment Rules
R&A and USGA design rules for conforming clubs: generally a plain head shape, rigid parts, no external attachments, and drivers up to 460 cubic centimetres in sanctioned events.
Grip rules
Under the rules a conforming grip generally keeps the same cross-section along its length and, except on putters, is circular. It may taper but may not have waisting or bulges.
REACH Annex XVII entry 50
In the EU, rubber or plastic parts in long or repeated skin contact must not hold more than 1 mg/kg of any listed PAH. It names golf clubs and gloves, so test grips and gloves per material.

What moves the price of golf equipment

  • Bag features: individual club sleeves, stand legs and their mechanism, insulated pockets and extra compartments usually add cost.
  • Materials: fabric, lining and leather for bags and gloves, and titanium, composite or steel for heads.
  • Grip construction: a sleeve grip, a wrap over a sleeve and the texture pattern each change the work.
  • Tooling: new head or grip moulds for your own design, spread over the order.

Lead times and delivery

Time depends on how new the item is. Your own head or grip design needs moulds and more sample rounds; a bag on a maker's existing pattern with your fabric and logo is quicker. Custom colours, imported materials and EU lab tests add time. Roptan confirms the dates and the minimum per item and colour in the quote.

Inside Bangladesh we deliver to golf clubs, shops and corporate buyers with the packing list, test reports where they apply and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3). Ask for grips and head covers to be packed so they keep their shape.

Buying golf equipment for export

Export quotes are FOB Chattogram (Chittagong), or air from Dhaka for samples and small lots. In the US tariff, leather golf bags sit under 4202.91, leather golf gloves under 4203.21 and club parts under 9506.39; nylon bags and synthetic gloves fall under other lines, so your broker confirms each one. Papers usually cover the invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, REX or UK DCTS origin papers, and PAH reports for EU goods.

What we check for this order

  • Conforming pointsFor heads and grips sold for sanctioned play, we check head volume, a plain head shape and a circular, even grip against the order.
  • Reports on this materialPAH and other lab reports name the grip compound, glove material and colour in your order, not a similar one.
  • Bag buildWe count dividers, sleeves and pockets, work the stand legs and zips, and compare fabric and stitching with the sample.
  • Glove sizes and handsWe check the size run and the left-hand and right-hand counts before cartons close.

Questions buyers ask

Can I order club heads and grips to my own design?

Yes. Send drawings or a reference sample: club type, loft, material and volume for heads, and diameter points and firmness for grips. A new design usually needs its own moulds, so expect more sample rounds than for a maker's existing model. For sanctioned play, keep the head plain and the grip circular.

Do training aids have to conform to the Rules of Golf?

No, but the Rules generally bar their use in competitive play, so a golfer can use them only in practice. Sell them as practice products, not conforming equipment, on the pack and the listing.

What should a golf bag specification include?

The bag type, fabric and denier, lining, frame and base, divider count, whether each club has its own sleeve, stand legs, pockets and zips, plus logo positions. A sample built to that sheet becomes the reference for the bulk.

Do grips sold in the EU need a chemical test?

Usually yes. The EU PAH restriction covers rubber and plastic parts in long or repeated skin contact and names golf clubs as an example, with a limit of 1 mg/kg for each listed PAH. Ask for a report for each compound and colour.

How soon will I hear back about sports goods?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.
