Buying ducted split units in Bangladesh

A ducted split unit pairs an outdoor condensing unit with an indoor coil and fan unit that is ducted to the rooms. The indoor coil cools the air directly, so no chilled water plant is needed, which is why the type is common in single-floor shops and small offices.

A ducted split unit supplier in Bangladesh should price the ducting, grilles, drain and pipe along with the unit, since those usually explain most gaps between quotes. Roptan briefs verified sellers on one duct layout and compares the offers line by line. We deliver the equipment, and the seller installs and commissions it.

Kinds of ducted split unit

Concealed ducted units

The indoor unit sits in an accessible ceiling void, with flush grilles and ducts to and from the rooms. Choose it where the ceiling is clear and appearance matters.

Slim (furred-in) ducted units

A shallow indoor unit, usually at the small end of the capacity range, for a single room, a shop or a tight ceiling. Check its fan can push air through the duct length you plan.

High static pressure ducted units

A stronger indoor fan for long duct runs, many grilles or extra filters. Give the seller the duct layout, so the unit is rated at the static pressure of your real run.

Exposed and floor-standing units

Where there is no ceiling void, the indoor unit can be wall, floor or ceiling mounted in its own enclosure, or stand in the room. Expect more fan noise in the occupied space.

How to specify a ducted split unit

Capacity at site conditions
State cooling in kW or TR (1 TR is 3.517 kW). Dhaka's April mean daily maximum is about 34 °C, so ask for capacity at that temperature, not at a mild rating point.
External static pressure
The pressure, in pascals, the indoor fan must overcome in ducts, bends, grilles and filters. A long run needs a unit rated at that pressure, or less air reaches the rooms.
Airflow
Ask for airflow in m³/h at the quoted static pressure and fan speed before you compare quotes.
Sensible and latent capacity
Dhaka's relative humidity averages about 82 to 83 percent in the monsoon. Ask for both figures at your fan speed: lower airflow removes more moisture but cuts total capacity.
Return air and fresh air
Say whether the return is ducted or uses the ceiling void. A ducted split only recirculates room air, so fresh air needs its own system.
Condensate drain
Show the drain route from the drip tray, with falls, a trap and a pump where falls are impossible. A blocked pan overflows onto ceilings.
Filters and vibration
Dhaka's dusty air loads filters quickly, so state the filter class and how pressure drop is read. Fit flexible duct connections and isolate the unit from the structure.

Ratings and tests to ask for

EN 14511
The European rating method for air conditioners and heat pumps, including units that can be ducted; the 2022 edition is current. Ask which standard a quoted capacity follows.
AHRI 210/240 and AHRI 340/360
US rating standards: 210/240 for smaller unitary equipment, 340/360 for larger commercial units. Ask which one, and which edition, the datasheet uses.
SEER, EER and IEER
US efficiency descriptors that depend on unit size and are not interchangeable. A SEER figure on one quote cannot be compared with an EER figure on another.
EN 12102-1
Measures the sound power of air conditioners and heat pumps; the 2022 edition replaced 2017. Ask for indoor and outdoor sound power, not a bare dB figure.

What moves the price of a ducted split unit

  • Cooling capacity, and the external static pressure the fan is built for.
  • Inverter or fixed-speed compressor, and the refrigerant.
  • The origin of the equipment.
  • Ducting, insulation and grilles, which usually explain most gaps between quotes.
  • Refrigerant pipe length, and the condensate drain or pump.

Lead times and delivery

Time to site depends on whether the model and capacity are held in stock in Bangladesh or imported to order, on clearance at Chattogram, and on when the ceiling, duct routes and drains are ready. Roptan confirms dates and any minimum in the quote.

We deliver anywhere in Bangladesh. The seller fixes the indoor unit and ducts, pressure tests and evacuates the refrigerant pipe, charges it and commissions the unit, checking airflow at the grilles. Handover includes the pipe test records, a drain test, manuals, warranty papers and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3).

What we check for this order

  • Static pressure matchedWe check that the quoted unit is rated at the static pressure of your duct layout, not at a default figure.
  • Same efficiency descriptorWe compare efficiency figures only where they use the same descriptor and standard, so SEER is never set against EER.
  • Refrigerant in writingWe check the refrigerant named in each offer and flag any R-22 unit, since Bangladesh is phasing out HCFCs.
  • Pipe and drain testsWe confirm the seller will record pressure and vacuum tests and show the condensate pan draining freely before ceilings close.

Questions buyers ask

Do I need a chilled water plant for a ducted split?

No. A ducted split is a direct expansion system: refrigerant in the indoor coil cools the air itself, and the outdoor condensing unit rejects the heat. No chiller or chilled water pipework is needed, so the type suits shops and small offices without a plant room.

Why does the near room cool well but the far one does not?

Usually the fan is short of static pressure for the duct run. Every bend, grille and filter adds resistance, and a unit rated below the run's pressure delivers less air at the far end. Give the seller your duct layout before ordering.

Is an R-22 ducted unit still worth buying?

Not for a new job. Bangladesh is phasing out HCFCs such as R-22, with a 67.5 percent cut targeted by 2025, and has ratified the Kigali HFC phase-down. Some floor-standing and packaged lines on sale are still listed on R-22, so ask for the refrigerant in writing.

Will a ducted split bring fresh air into the shop?

No. It recirculates room air and does not filter fine dust or volatile organic compounds. If the space needs outside air, plan a separate ventilation system and say so in the brief, so every seller prices it.

How soon will I hear back about HVAC systems?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the capacity, where it is needed and by when.
