Buying data and coaxial cables in Bangladesh

Data cable here means twisted-pair network cable, Cat 6 and its neighbours, for offices, factories and hotels. Coaxial cable means 75 ohm RG6 and RG59 for CCTV, cable TV and video links. The buyers are IT and security contractors, cable TV operators, developers and facility teams, in a trade that names counterfeit goods as a main problem.

Two boxes of Cat 6 can look the same and test very differently. Roptan takes your list to a verified data and coaxial cable manufacturer in Bangladesh, checks for solid copper and the construction you ordered on samples, matches the test reports and delivers. You deal with one contact, or post the need on our requirement board.

Kinds of data and coaxial cable

Cat 6 UTP

Unshielded twisted pair specified to 250 MHz, against 100 MHz for Cat 5e. Choose it for office and building networks at gigabit speeds; for 10GBASE-T it reaches only 55 m.

Cat 6A

Specified to 500 MHz, it carries 10GBASE-T over the full 100 m channel. Choose it for server rooms, backbones and links you expect to upgrade.

Shielded twisted pair

Foil or braid around the pairs or the whole cable, as in F/UTP or S/FTP, for better noise immunity. Choose it near motors, drives and heavy power cables in factories.

RG6 coaxial cable

A 75 ohm coax for cable TV and longer video runs. The name is generic: shielding, centre conductor and jacket differ between makers, so specify each.

RG59 coaxial cable

A 75 ohm coax for low-power video and short CCTV links. High-frequency losses rule it out for long runs, where RG6 or RG11 is used.

How to brief a data and coaxial cable manufacturer in Bangladesh

Category or coax type
Name the category, such as Cat 6 or Cat 6A, or the coax type, and the standard the test report must follow.
Solid or stranded
Solid conductor for fixed runs between patch panel and wall jack; stranded for patch cords and drops, since solid cracks if flexed often.
Conductor metal and gauge
Ask for pure copper in writing; Cat 6 conductors are 22 to 26 AWG. Copper-clad aluminium does not meet the category specification.
Shielding
UTP for most offices; F/UTP or S/FTP where noise is a problem. For coax, state the shield layers and the centre conductor material.
Jacket
PVC is common indoors. Outdoor and buried runs need a jacket that resists sunlight, rodents or burial; escape routes may need low smoke halogen-free.
Lengths and packing
State boxes or drums per type and the length in each, to match your run list.

Standards and approvals for data and coaxial cable

ANSI/TIA-568, ISO/IEC 11801 and EN 50173
The structured cabling standards that set the categories; Cat 6A sits in ANSI/TIA-568.2-D. Ask for a test report or certificate that names the one used.
BDS IEC 61196-10:2025 (BSTI)
Coaxial communication cables were added to BSTI's mandatory certification marks by the gazette of 29 January 2026, in force two months after publication, from 30 March 2026. Ask for the licence with the quote.
IEC 60754-1 and IEC 61034-2
Halogen acid gas and smoke density tests behind a low smoke halogen-free jacket; ask for both reports.

What moves the price of data and coaxial cable

  • Copper: it is usually the main cost, so quotes move with the metal price.
  • Conductor: solid copper costs more than copper-clad aluminium, which is why quotes that look alike can differ.
  • Shielding: foil, braid or both add metal and work, on twisted pair and on coax.
  • Jacket: outdoor, burial and low smoke halogen-free jackets cost more than plain indoor PVC.

Lead times and delivery

Common Cat 6 UTP and RG6 held in stock usually leave sooner than Cat 6A, shielded types, outdoor jackets or coax built to your own shield specification. Tests on samples and a long mixed list add time, and copper can reopen the price. Roptan confirms the dates and any minimum per type in the quote.

Roptan delivers boxes and drums to offices, factories, hotels and installers' stores across Bangladesh, with a packing list by type and length. Pulling, terminating and testing the links stay with your installer. You receive the test reports for the lot and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3).

Buying data and coaxial cables for export

Recorded coaxial cable exports from Bangladesh, under HS 8544.20, are small, and twisted-pair data cable has no export line of its own. For an importer we quote FOB Chattogram (Chittagong) with a packing list and test reports; for cable fixed in EU buildings, confirm the EN 50575 fire class first.

What we check for this order

  • Pure copper conductorWe strip a sample to check the conductor is copper through, not a copper skin over aluminium.
  • Gauge and constructionWe measure the gauge and confirm solid or stranded, pairs and shield against the data sheet.
  • Coax buildFor RG6 and RG59, we check the centre conductor, shield layers and braid you ordered.
  • Reports and BSTI statusTest reports must name the category or coax type; for coax we check the BSTI licence to BDS IEC 61196-10:2025.

Questions buyers ask

Should I install Cat 6 or Cat 6A?

Cat 6 for most office networks at gigabit speeds. Choose Cat 6A for 10 gigabit to the desk or between racks: Cat 6 carries 10GBASE-T only up to 55 m, Cat 6A over the full 100 m channel.

How long can a network cable run be?

Up to 100 m in all for Cat 5e, 6 and 6A: a 90 m permanent link, usually solid cable from patch panel to wall jack, plus up to 10 m of stranded patch cords. The 55 m figure for Cat 6 applies only to 10GBASE-T.

RG6 or RG59 for CCTV?

RG59 for short, low-power video links; RG6 for long runs and cable TV, as it loses less at high frequency. Both are 75 ohm. RG6 is a generic name, so specify the centre conductor, shield and jacket, or two drums labelled RG6 may perform differently.

Is copper-clad aluminium acceptable in Cat 6?

No. The Cat 6 specification requires pure copper conductors, and copper-clad aluminium cable is a known problem that exposes installers to liability. It looks identical from outside, so we strip and check samples before delivery.

Does coaxial cable need a BSTI mark?

Yes. The gazette of 29 January 2026 added coaxial communication cables, to BDS IEC 61196-10:2025, to the products under mandatory certification marks, and the notification took effect two months after publication, on 30 March 2026. We check the seller's licence for that standard before we quote. We found no entry for twisted-pair data cable on the list, so for Cat 6 the proof is the test report.

How soon will I hear back about cables and wires?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.

Who do I deal with?

With Roptan, when Roptan manages the order: we buy from the verified seller and deliver to you. With the supplier directly, when you post on the requirement board and choose a quote yourself.
