Buying camping tents in Bangladesh

A camping tent is a portable shelter of coated fabric on a pole frame, pegged and guyed against wind. It sells by floor area, sleepers and season, from light dome tents to heavy frame tents for car camping. Makers in Bangladesh usually ship to outdoor brands and retailers in the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan.

Tents that look alike can differ in coating, poles and seam tape, and the gap shows after rain or storage. Roptan writes those choices down, finds a camping tent manufacturer in Bangladesh among its verified makers to match them, checks a pitched sample and the lot reports, and inspects the bulk.

Kinds of camping tent

Dome tents

Flexible poles cross over the tent to form a frame that stands unpegged, though high wind still needs pegs. Choose it for small, light tents that pitch quickly.

Tunnel tents

Parallel pole hoops can give more usable room than a dome of equal floor area, but almost always need pegs and guy ropes to stand. Choose it when room matters more than pitching unpegged.

Frame tents

A free-standing steel frame carries an outer cover and cotton, nylon or polyester inner tents. Walls stand almost upright, but steel is heavy: choose it for family car camping.

Cabin tents

Single skin, with nylon walls, a polyester roof and a polyethylene floor, sold mainly in the United States. One source calls it a summer tent: state the water rating you need.

How to brief a camping tent manufacturer in Bangladesh

Floor area and sleepers
Give the inner floor size in metres, the peak height and the sleepers. Berth labels follow no accepted standard and may leave no room for luggage.
Wall construction
Single skin, single skin with a fly, or double skin. In a double-skin tent the inner breathes and is not waterproof, and condensation runs down the fly.
Fabric for fly, inner and floor
Denier (D) and thread count (T, such as 210T) for each part; the two measure different things. Ripstop stops a tear from spreading.
Coating
PU is cheaper and takes seam tape. Silicone costs more and sheds water but cannot be taped, so seams need sealant; silicone outside with PU inside can be taped.
Water head and seams
State fly and floor heads separately, tested to ISO 811; the floor needs more, as kneeling presses water up. Monsoon rain finds needle holes, so tape or seal seams.
Poles
Fibreglass is cheaper; aluminium alloy is stronger, more durable and dearer. Give outer diameter, wall thickness, section length and count, and spares per tent.
Floor and mesh
A bathtub groundsheet rising some 15 cm up the walls, vents against condensation, fine insect mesh on openings, and a footprint slightly smaller than the floor.

Standards and tests for camping tents

EN ISO 5912:2020
Requirements and test methods for camping tents: safety, performance and fitness for use. Ask for a report on your model to this edition.
EN ISO 811:2018
The hydrostatic pressure test behind head figures. It tests fabric, so have fly and floor fabric from your lot tested.
CPAI-84 and ASTM F3431
Flame specifications for tent materials. CPAI-84 was updated in 2021. Health Canada calls ASTM F3431 its replacement, though F3431 sets flame requirements only for tents used with stoves. Use the test your buyer names.
CAN/CGSB-182.1-2020
Required for fabric, floor, flies, footprints and side panels by Canada's Tents Regulations SOR/2024-217. Once the transition ends in November 2026, a CPAI-84 report alone does not qualify.
EU product safety and PFHxA
Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety applies from 13 December 2024. Check fluorinated water repellents against the EU's REACH restriction on PFHxA and related substances.

What moves the price of a camping tent

  • Coating: silicone costs more than PU, and its seams need liquid sealant instead of tape.
  • Poles: aluminium alloy costs more than fibreglass, and spare sections add to it.
  • Fabric: a higher hydrostatic head and a heavier denier raise the cost.
  • Seams: taping fly and floor seams costs more than stitching alone.
  • Testing: a model test to EN ISO 5912 and a flame test per market add fees.

Lead times and delivery

Time depends on how far the order departs from a maker's current model. Custom colours or coatings, imported poles, extra sample rounds and model or flame tests add time; a current model in stock fabric is quicker. Roptan confirms the dates and the minimum per model and colour in the quote.

Inside Bangladesh, Roptan delivers boxed tents by covered truck to your store, depot or event site, with the packing list, any lab reports ordered and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3), cartons sealed with desiccant.

Buying camping tents for export

Export quotes are FOB Chattogram (Chittagong). Tents of synthetic fibres fall under HS 6306.22; your customs broker confirms the line. Papers usually cover the invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, test reports, and REX or UK DCTS origin papers. Duty in each destination is confirmed at quote time.

What we check for this order

  • Coating in writingWe get the fly and floor coating confirmed as PU or silicone, since it decides seam taping and storage life.
  • Seam tape on a pitched sampleWe look along the fly seams and bathtub corners of a pitched sample, where water gets in first.
  • Reports for your marketISO 811 results and the flame report your market needs, on the fabric and coating cut for your order.
  • Dry before cartons closeTents packed dry with desiccant, because PU coatings stored damp can turn sticky and peel.

Questions buyers ask

What hydrostatic head should a camping tent have?

No single figure fits: retail guides disagree, and the need depends on climate and season. State the head for fly and floor, ask for ISO 811 results on your lot, and expect UV and wear to lower it.

Which flame test do tents for Canada need?

CAN/CGSB-182.1-2020, under the Tents Regulations SOR/2024-217, which replaced rules that cited CPAI-84. It covers fabric, flooring, components, accessories and labels. Old-rule stock may sell until about November 2026, so test new orders to it.

Why do stored tents turn sticky?

The PU coating has broken down by hydrolysis, which warm, humid storage speeds up; it peels and the fabric leaks. For stock held through a humid season, ask for silicone or polyether-type PU, packed dry.

Do event marquees come under the same standard?

No. EN ISO 5912:2020 covers camping tents. Mobile tents with more than 50 square metres of ground area come under EN 13782:2015, the safety standard for temporary tents.

How soon will I hear back about tents and camping gear?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.
