Buying suits and blazers in Bangladesh

A suit is a set of two or three pieces in identical fabric: jacket and trousers, plus a waistcoat in a three-piece. A blazer is a sports jacket, less formal than a suit jacket and often worn as uniform. In Bangladesh, schools, airlines, clubs and companies order blazers as uniform; importers order suits and blazers as a programme. On EPB data, formal suits are a small export line next to trousers and jackets.

Roptan matches your order to a verified suit and blazer manufacturer in Bangladesh that already sews tailored jackets, gets quotes on the same cloth, lining and interlining, and approves a fit sample and a size set with you before bulk cutting. We check fusing and the finished sets, then deliver.

Kinds of suits and blazers

Two-piece suits

Jacket and trousers of the same fabric construction, colour and composition, in one style and matching sizes. Choose them for office and formal wear.

Three-piece suits

A two-piece with a waistcoat fronted in the same fabric. Choose it when the waistcoat is part of the look or uniform; cut all three pieces together.

Single and double-breasted jackets

Single-breasted jackets have one column of buttons, usually one to three closing; double-breasted have two columns and a large overlap. State the cut and button count.

Uniform blazers

A sports jacket, traditionally navy or striped and typically with metal buttons, sold on its own. Choose it for school, airline, club and company uniforms.

Dinner suits

The formal evening variant of the suit. Dinner jackets traditionally have no vents; say so on the brief if you want that cut.

How to brief a suit and blazer manufacturer in Bangladesh

Cloth
Poly-viscose, poly-wool or pure wool, with each fibre's percentage. Worsted wool, a smooth, strong yarn, is the usual cloth for tailored suits.
Jacket measuring points
Half chest measured flat 1 inch below the armhole, across shoulder, centre back length, and sleeve length from the shoulder including cuff. Disputes usually come from different measuring points.
Lining
Silk is comfortable and dearer; acetate is crisp but less durable; rayon usually outlasts acetate; polyester lasts but breathes little. Name the lining cloth and approve it on the sample.
Interlining
Woven polyester fusible interlining usually suits lightweight suiting; chemical-bonded non-woven, which is thicker, suits heavy coats and jackets. Name it, or approve it on the fit sample.
Bill of materials
Shell cloth, lining, interlining, shoulder pads, thread, buttons and labels. List each, so every quote prices the same jacket.

Tests and labels for suits and blazers

ISO 3175-1
Performance after professional dry cleaning or wet cleaning and finishing. For a dry-clean suit it says more than a home washing test.
ISO 105-D01
Colour fastness to dry cleaning with perchloroethylene solvent. Ask for it on dark suiting and on contrast trims.
Care labels
Symbols to ISO 3758. In the US, 16 CFR Part 423 requires a permanent care label with a washing or a dry-cleaning instruction, legible for the garment's life.
Wool content rules
EU: 'virgin wool' may be claimed in a blend only if all its wool qualifies and is at least 25 percent by weight. US labels state wool content even under 5 percent.

What moves the price of a suit or blazer

  • Fibre: pure wool costs more than polyester-wool blends, which give nearly similar insulation.
  • Lining: silk is dearer than synthetic linings such as polyester.
  • Shaping: darts and hand shaping add sewing time over an unshaped cut.
  • Imported cloth: in a 2023 report local mills met only 35 to 40 percent of woven fabric demand, so much suiting is imported.

Lead times and delivery

Imported suiting usually adds about 20 to 30 days to the cloth stage. A fit sample and a size set are approved before bulk cutting, and each extra round adds time. Roptan confirms the minimum per style and colour, and the dates, in the quote.

Inside Bangladesh we deliver suits and blazers to offices, schools, hotels or stores in any district, each suit's jacket and trousers packed as a set and matched by size. Each delivery carries the packing list, the inspection report and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3).

Buying suits and blazers for export

For importers we quote FOB Chattogram. Customs treat a suit as a set of two or three pieces in identical fabric with one lower garment; a blazer sold alone falls under the jacket lines. The UK tariff splits suits by fibre: 6203 11 wool, 6203 12 synthetic, 6203 19 other. Preference status after 24 November 2026, when Bangladesh is due to leave LDC status, is to be confirmed at order time.

What we check for this order

  • Shade groupsWe see the cloth inspected against light and grouped by shade, so jacket and trousers of each set come from one group.
  • FusingWe check fusing temperature, pressure and bond strength, and examine fused parts after a cleaning test: a weak bond shows only later.
  • Fit and size setWe measure the fit sample and size set at the agreed points and approve them with you before bulk cutting.
  • Final inspectionWe sample to ISO 2859-1, usually at AQL 2.5 major and 4.0 minor, checking sets for matching shade, size and finish.

Questions buyers ask

What weight of suiting suits Bangladesh's climate?

Usually tropical weight, about 4.5 to 8.5 oz per square yard, or medium weight up to about 9 oz. Tropical-weight worsteds use tightly spun wool in a looser weave so air passes through. Keep 10 to 12 oz cloth for suits worn in cold climates.

Should a jacket have a single vent, double vents or none?

It is a style choice. A single vent sits at the centre back; double vents sit at each side and are linked with British tailoring; ventless jackets with Italian. Dinner jackets traditionally have no vents. Show the vent on the sample you approve.

How should suit sizes be labelled for Europe?

EN 13402-3 labels sizes from body measurements and intervals. It describes the wearer, not the garment, so your spec still needs garment measurements at agreed points, such as half chest measured 1 inch below the armhole, each with a tolerance.

Can jackets and trousers ship in separate cartons?

Usually yes, if the papers show them as sets: one US customs ruling accepted sets packed apart where purchase orders showed equal quantities in matching sizes. Keep the invoice and packing list in matching quantities and sizes, and ask your customs broker before shipping.

How soon will I hear back about men's wear?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.
