Buying cargo trousers in Bangladesh
Cargo trousers are loosely cut trousers with large utility pockets: patch pockets on the legs, often bellowed for capacity and closed by a flap. They come in twill or ripstop, in cotton or poly-cotton. Retailers buy them for casual and outdoor ranges, and poly-cotton versions are common as work trousers.
Each pocket, flap, zip and bartack is a separate sewing step, so two quotes for six-pocket cargos can describe different trousers. Roptan matches your brief to a verified cargo trousers manufacturer in Bangladesh, gets quotes on the same fabric, pocket layout and trims, checks the sample pocket by pocket, inspects the bulk and delivers. You deal with Roptan only.
What to tell a cargo trousers manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Pocket layout
- Each pocket's count, position, size, flap shape and closure. A bellows pocket is a patch pocket with a fold that adds capacity, so mark which pockets have one.
- Closures
- Button, snap, hook-and-loop strip, magnet or zip, pocket by pocket. Hook-and-loop is used on fewer garment types, so check that your market accepts it.
- Seams and stitching
- The seam type for the side seams, rise and inseam, where each bartack or rivet goes, and the thread for the double-needle topstitching that marks the style.
- Fabric and fibre
- Twill or ripstop, the weight in GSM or oz per square yard, and every fibre with its percentage. Approve a swatch at the quoted weight.
- Fused parts
- Pocket flaps and the waistband are usually fused with interlining. Name the interlining or approve it on the sample.
Fabric tests and labels for cargo trousers
- ISO 13937-2
- Tear force by the single tear method; 'trouser' is the shape of the test piece. Tear strength is why ripstop is chosen, so ask whether a value is warp or weft.
- ISO 13934-1
- Maximum force and elongation of the cloth by the strip method. Ask for it beside the tear result when comparing twill and ripstop offers.
- Fibre labels, EU and US
- EU labels list every fibre by percentage in descending order (Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011). Under the US rule, 16 CFR Part 303, a fibre under 5 percent is 'other fiber' unless it has a clear function.
Lead times and delivery
No single time fits every cargo order: it usually depends on whether the cloth is woven locally or imported, how many zips, snaps and other trims are bought in, and how many sample rounds the pocket layout needs. Roptan confirms the minimum per style and colour, and the dates, in the quote.
Inside Bangladesh we deliver cargo trousers to your warehouse, stores or work sites in any district, folded and cartoned by size and colour. Each delivery carries the packing list, the inspection report with its pocket-by-pocket results and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3).
Buying cargo trousers for export
For importers we quote FOB Chattogram. A cargo trouser is classed by the fibre that predominates by weight, cotton under 6203 42 or synthetic fibres under 6203 43. The UK tariff also has industrial and occupational lines for cotton trousers, so your customs broker decides how a work cargo is classed. Preference status after 24 November 2026, when Bangladesh is due to leave LDC status, is to be confirmed at order time.
Questions buyers ask
What closures can cargo pockets have?
Buttons, snaps, hook-and-loop strips, magnets or zips. One trade breakdown of a khaki cargo shows a zipped side pocket with a smaller flapped pocket sewn on top. Hook-and-loop appears on fewer garment types, so check that your market accepts it.
Is ripstop always nylon?
No. It is often nylon, but it is also woven in cotton, polyester and polypropylene, and where nylon is used it is often only in the reinforcing grid. State the fibre and percentage of the whole cloth, not only the word ripstop.
How should fibre content be written for a poly-cotton cargo?
In full, each fibre with its percentage, for example 65 percent polyester and 35 percent cotton. Customs class the trousers by the fibre that predominates by weight, and the EU label lists fibres in descending order, so invoice, label and test report must agree.
Which seams should cargo trousers have?
They are often sewn with felled seams, for strength and so they bend at the knee and hip. A double-lapped flat-felled seam, made on a special machine in one operation, is one of the strongest seams and is also used in jeans.
How soon will I hear back about men's wear?
Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.
Who do I deal with?
