Buying joggers in Bangladesh
Joggers are soft trousers for comfort or sport, with an elastic waistband, tapered legs and usually cuffed ankles. The UK also calls them jogging or tracksuit bottoms, Australia trackpants and the US sweatpants, so a brief may use any of these names. Retailers buy them for casual, sport and lounge ranges.
Roptan matches your brief to a verified joggers manufacturer in Bangladesh with knitting, brushing and sewing lined up, gets quotes on the same fabric weight, blend and trims, and checks a washed sample before you approve bulk. We inspect the finished joggers and deliver. You deal with Roptan only.
What to tell a joggers manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Fibre blend
- Each fibre with its percentage. Cotton brings breathability, softness and moisture absorption; polyester brings strength, shape retention and resistance to wrinkles and shrinking.
- Fabric weight
- The GSM of the brushed fleece or other knit, with a swatch approved at that weight. Weights vary widely, so compare quotes on one figure.
- Waistband
- Tunnel elastic with an inside drawcord, or exposed elastic. Woven elastic is strong and usually does not roll; state its width, a flat or round drawcord, and any eyelets.
- Cuffs
- Rib cuffs or an open hem, and the rib's elastane content. ISO 20932-1 strip tests measure fabric elasticity but exclude narrow fabrics such as elastic tape, so approve the elastic's stretch on the sample.
- Pockets
- Side-seam or slant pockets, mesh or self-fabric pocket bags, and any zipped pockets, each drawn on the spec.
Tests for knit joggers
- ISO 16322-3 and ISO 16322-2
- Spirality or torque after domestic laundering: Part 3 on the garment, Part 2 on the fabric. Leg twist is the knit fault to write a limit for.
- ISO 5077 with ISO 6330
- Dimensional change in washing and drying, by the ISO 6330 procedures. Knits usually shrink more than wovens, so ask for a result on each fabric lot.
- ISO 12945-2
- Pilling, fuzzing and matting by the modified Martindale method, which shows how a brushed or knit surface wears.
- ISO 105-C06, X12 and E04
- Colour fastness to washing, rubbing and perspiration. Joggers are washed often and worn for sport, so ask for all three on dark shades.
Lead times and delivery
Knit fabric is mostly made in Bangladesh: in a 2023 report local mills met 75 to 80 percent of knitters' demand, and a 2022 report tied the knit sector's growth to that supply and quick delivery. Brushing, dyeing and sample rounds still add time. Roptan confirms the minimum per style and colour, and the dates, in the quote.
Inside Bangladesh we deliver joggers to your warehouse, stores or offices in any district, cartoned by size and colour, or with matching tops for tracksuit orders. Each delivery carries the packing list, the inspection report, any lab reports your order asked for, and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3).
Buying joggers for export
For importers we quote FOB Chattogram. A jogger sold on its own is classed with knitted men's trousers, under 6103 42 when cotton predominates by weight or 6103 43 when synthetic fibres do. Sea freight usually takes about three to five weeks to EU and US ports. Preference status after 24 November 2026, when Bangladesh is due to leave LDC status, is to be confirmed at order time.
Questions buyers ask
What GSM should fleece joggers be?
There is no single figure, so agree it on a swatch. One fabric guide puts sweatpants in heavy cloth of 10 to 12 oz per square yard, about 340 to 410 GSM, and extra-heavy cloth at 14 to 16 oz. Heavier fleece uses more yarn.
Why do joggers twist after washing?
Twist stress in the yarn distorts the knitted loops, so wales and courses meet at an angle other than 90 degrees. After washing it shows as a side seam moving to the front. ISO 16322-3 measures it; agree a limit on the washed sample.
Do fleece joggers need a flammability test for the US?
Cotton-rich brushed fleece usually does. Under 16 CFR Part 1610 a brushed back is a raised surface, so the plain-surface exemption does not apply; fabrics made wholly of polyester, nylon, acrylic, wool and a few other fibres are exempt. Class 3 textiles, which burn rapidly and intensely, may not be used in clothing.
Are joggers and tracksuit bottoms classed the same?
Not always. Sold alone, a jogger is classed with knitted trousers by its main fibre. Sold with a matching top, it is a tracksuit question, and sets packed apart may still count as sets if the papers show matching quantities and sizes. Your customs broker confirms.
How soon will I hear back about men's wear?
Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.
Who do I deal with?
