Buying sports socks in Bangladesh
Sports socks are designed around the sport and the shoe they are worn with: knee socks for football, crew or ankle socks with cushioned zones for running and training, and grip socks worn inside the boot. Clubs, schools, sports brands and retailers buy them in team colours or multi-packs, in Bangladesh and abroad.
Two socks with the same fibre label can behave very differently, so construction matters as much as the blend. Roptan briefs a verified sports sock manufacturer in Bangladesh on fibre system, cushioning, thickness and grip, approves a sample with you, and checks the bulk against it before shipment.
How to brief a sports sock manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Sport, shoe and height
- Name the sport and the shoe the sock is worn in, since athletic socks are designed around both, and give the height in centimetres.
- Fibre system
- Performance socks commonly mix nylon, polyester and elastane. Yarn size, density, plating, tension and finishing change how similar blends behave, so match a sample, not a percentage.
- Cushioning and thickness
- Say where the terry sits and give the pair weight. State thickness at toe, forefoot, heel and cuff as numbers, not words such as thin or low profile.
- Left and right
- Anatomical socks place arch and heel zones for each foot. They need a left and right mark and pairing control in packing; the shape alone proves no performance gain.
- Compression as fit
- Treat compression as fit, judged with stretch recovery and foot shape. More is not automatically better; print no pressure unless measured by a stated method.
Tests and rules for sports socks
- EN ISO 12945-2 and EN ISO 12947-2
- Pilling and Martindale abrasion. Strong synthetic and wool fibres anchor pills, so set a pilling grade for sports blends and a minimum abrasion result for heel and sole fabric.
- ISO 105-E04, C06, X12 and B02
- Colour fastness to perspiration, washing, rubbing and light. Team colours meet sweat, frequent washing and sun, so test dark and bright shades.
- Grip testing
- No standard grip test for socks is in general use, and a brand's in-house friction test is not certification. Set a protocol: friction dry and wet, then adhesion and friction after agreed wash cycles and abrasion.
- 16 CFR 1610 (US flammability)
- Hosiery is in scope. The fibre exemption covers fabric made entirely of listed fibres such as nylon or polyester; elastane and cotton are not listed, so a nylon-elastane sock falls outside it.
Lead times and delivery
Lead times and minimums for sports socks vary with the seller, the yarn and the design, so Roptan quotes both per order. New left and right shaping, a grip layout, compression zones and team colours dyed to order each add sampling or testing time. Roptan confirms dates and minimums in the quote.
Inside Bangladesh, Roptan delivers sports socks paired and packed by size, colour or team to your store, club or office, with the packing list, the inspection report and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3). Send a squad list and the packs can be made up by player and size.
Buying sports socks for export
Sports socks enter heading 6115 under their main fibre, often synthetic fibres or cotton, and your customs broker confirms the line, including for knee-length football socks. Roptan quotes FOB Chattogram (Chittagong) with the test reports and the final inspection report.
Questions buyers ask
Do grip socks give more grip on the pitch?
No. The silicone or elastomer structures work inside the boot, between foot, sock, insole and shoe, and create no extra stud traction. Judge them on adhesion and friction after washing, on a protocol you set, since no standard grip-sock test is in general use.
Can we say our compression sports socks improve performance?
No. A 2018 meta-analysis found that lower-limb compression garments were not associated with better running performance, and medical wording moves a sock towards regulated medical devices. Describe the fit and construction, and print a pressure only when it is measured by a stated method.
Which fibres suit sports socks?
Performance socks commonly combine nylon, polyester and elastane, and a textile source names polyester, nylon and wool as the fibres that keep sweaty feet dry. Two socks with similar labels can still behave differently, because yarn size, density, plating, tension and finishing matter too. Approve a sample, not a percentage.
Can sports socks be sold as anti-odour?
Only with the finish named. If a biocide is added against bacteria, the EU Biocidal Products Regulation and REACH apply, so the seller states the finish and its EU status before the claim goes on a pack. Otherwise, sell it on fibre and construction.
How soon will I hear back about socks and hosiery?
Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.
