Buying SBR STP in Bangladesh
An SBR STP is an activated sludge plant that treats sewage in batches. Each tank runs a cycle of fill, react with air, settle, decant and idle, so treatment and settling share one tank. With two or more tanks, one settles or decants while another fills and aerates. It suits hotels, hospitals, housing projects and factories in Bangladesh whose outlet target includes nitrogen.
An SBR STP supplier in Bangladesh sells a timed process, so the controller, level sensors and decanter matter as much as the tanks. We have verified sellers quote cycle times and decant volumes to one design basis, check a running plant and deliver yours. The seller installs and commissions it. You can also post the requirement on our board.
How to specify an SBR STP
- Flow pattern
- Give the daily flow and when the peaks come. An SBR may not cope with a sudden, lasting rise in inflow, so state expected growth.
- Cycle times
- Ask for the time of each stage and the decant volume per cycle. Aeration is often quoted at 60 to 90 minutes, but it varies with size and strength.
- Decanter
- Usually a scoop or trough lowered slowly into the tank. Ask how its travel is limited and what alarm sounds if it draws settled sludge.
- Controller and sensors
- Valves, the waste sludge pump and the decanter are switched by the controller, usually on timers and level sensors. Ask for manual override, fault alarms and restart after a power cut.
- Nutrient target
- Say whether nitrogen or phosphorus removal is required. It changes the cycle, the anoxic time and any alum dosing.
Standards and tests for SBR plants
- ECR 2023 discharge limits
- The SBR must meet the limits of the Environment Conservation Rules 2023. The design basis should state them, with any nitrogen or phosphorus target.
- EN 12255-6 and EN 12255-12
- European parts on activated sludge design and on control and automation. A seller may cite them voluntarily; they are not Bangladesh rules.
- ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 5815-1
- Outlet samples go to an accredited lab and BOD is measured to ISO 5815-1. Each BOD result takes five days to come back.
Lead times and delivery
Time depends on the plant, so Roptan quotes dates for each order rather than a standard figure. Imported tanks or controls take longer for sea freight and customs clearance at Chattogram. Programming and testing the cycle adds time before handover, and the biology must settle before the outlet test. Roptan confirms the dates and any minimum in the quote.
We deliver the plant to your site anywhere in Bangladesh. The seller installs it, programs and tests the cycle, seeds the tanks and runs the plant until the outlet meets the agreed limits. Handover includes the cycle settings, the control logic description, drawings, lab reports, an operating manual and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3).
Questions buyers ask
Is an SBR or an extended aeration plant better for a hotel?
It depends on the flow. Extended aeration is more flexible on flow rate, and some SBRs are converted to it when inflow keeps rising. An SBR gives more control over the cycle, including nitrogen removal. Ask both sellers to size to your peaks and growth.
What happens if the SBR controller fails?
The cycle stops, so tanks can overfill or settled sludge can reach the outlet. Ask for fault alarms, a manual override for valves and the decanter, restart after power returns, and a local service contact for the controller and sensors.
Does an SBR remove nitrogen?
It can if it is designed and run to. Aeration turns ammonia into nitrate, and anoxic phases let bacteria remove it (denitrification). A plant run only for BOD will not do this, so the nitrogen target must be in the design basis and the quote.
How much sludge does an SBR make?
Usually less to handle than a conventional plant, because the sludge age is longer, but it is not none. A waste sludge pump removes some sludge during the settling stage. Ask the seller for the expected quantity, the removal method and who collects it.
How soon will I hear back about STP?
Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the capacity, where it is needed and by when.
Who do I deal with?
With Roptan, when Roptan manages the order: we buy from the verified seller and deliver to you. With the supplier directly, when you post on the requirement board and choose a quote yourself.
