Buying rubber sheets and mats in Bangladesh
Rubber sheet is vulcanised rubber in plates, strips or rolls, solid or cellular, used for gaskets, linings, pads and cut parts. Rubber mats are sheet made for a job on the floor: insulating matting in switch rooms and floor covering in tiles or rolls. Factories, substations, workshops and building contractors in Bangladesh buy both.
A rubber sheet and mat manufacturer in Bangladesh quotes by thickness and weight, but the use decides the polymer, tests and papers. Roptan sources from verified sellers, writes thickness, hardness and tolerance into the order, measures delivered rolls and checks certificates.
How to specify rubber sheet or matting
- Use and polymer
- Say where the sheet goes and what touches it: oil, water, sun or heat. The use sets the polymer, so EPDM outdoors and nitrile near oil.
- Thickness, width, length
- Give each dimension with a tolerance class from ISO 3302-1. It covers moulded and calendered solid sheet, but not rubber-coated fabric.
- Hardness
- State Shore A, or AO for cellular sheet, measured to ISO 48-4, with a tolerance on the delivered lot.
- Wear and tear
- For floors and pads ask for abrasion (ISO 4649) and tear (ISO 34-1); for cushioning, rebound (ISO 4662) or compression (ISO 7743).
- Liquid barrier
- For linings that hold back volatile liquids, ask for a transmission rate test to ISO 6179, which covers sheet 0.2 to 3 mm thick, on the sheet you buy.
- Matting class and certificate
- For insulating matting, give the voltage of the installation and ask for the class and the test certificate from the maker.
Standards and tests for rubber sheet and mats
- IEC 61111:2026
- Electrical insulating matting for live working. The 2026 edition replaced the 2009 one on 4 September 2026, so a certificate may still cite 2009; check which edition it follows.
- EN 1817:2020
- Smooth rubber floor coverings in tile or roll, with a class by intensity of use and marking rules. The 2010 edition is withdrawn.
- ISO 3302-1:2014
- Dimensional tolerance classes for moulded, extruded and calendered solid rubber. Name the class for each dimension on the order.
- ISO 1431-1:2024 and ISO 188:2023
- Ozone cracking and heat ageing of cured rubber. Ask for them on sheet or mats left in sun or near running motors.
- ISO 2230:2026
- Guidelines for packing, inspecting and storing solid and cellular rubber products before use. Follow it in your store too.
Lead times and delivery
Time depends on whether your thickness, width and colour are held as stock rolls, on new moulds or embossing rolls, on certified matting, which may come from fewer sellers or import, and on lab tests. Roptan confirms the dates and the minimum quantity in the quote.
Roptan delivers rolls and plates anywhere in Bangladesh, rolled or stacked flat, marked with thickness, polymer and lot, with the packing list, test reports or matting certificate and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3). Store them shaded and away from running motors.
Buying rubber sheets and mats for export
For importers Roptan quotes FOB Chattogram (Chittagong). In EPB data for FY2025-26, solid vulcanised plates, sheets and strip make up almost all of heading 4008 exports, while floor coverings and mats are a small line. Much rubber trade is recorded as supply into local zones. Documents include the invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, test reports and the seller's ERC.
Questions buyers ask
Which IEC 61111 edition should my matting certificate cite?
IEC 61111:2026 took effect on 4 September 2026 and replaced the 2009 edition at IEC, though EN 61111:2009 is still listed in Europe. Matting made and tested earlier will cite 2009. Ask which edition the test followed and keep the certificate in your handover file.
What voltage does IEC 61111 matting cover?
The standard covers matting for electrical installations up to 36,000 V AC. Within that, matting comes in classes by voltage, and thickness usually rises with class. Take the class, voltage and thickness from the maker's certificate, not from a general table, because sellers' tables differ.
Is there a standard for rubber floor tiles?
Yes. EN 1817:2020 covers smooth, grained or embossed rubber floor coverings in tile or roll, with a class for intensity of use and marking rules. Ask for the class that suits the room and for the marking on the packs.
Why does stored rubber sheet crack?
Natural rubber is sensitive to ozone, and running electric motors produce it. Sunlight and heat age rubber too. Store sheet and mats shaded and away from motors, and follow ISO 2230 for packing and inspection, using the oldest stock first.
How soon will I hear back about rubber products?
Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.
Who do I deal with?
With Roptan, when Roptan manages the order: we buy from the verified seller and deliver to you. With the supplier directly, when you post on the requirement board and choose a quote yourself.
