Buying rubber hoses in Bangladesh

A rubber hose carries fluid where a rigid pipe cannot bend or move. It is built in three layers: a tube that meets the fluid, a textile or wire reinforcement that holds pressure, and a cover that faces the weather. Factories, workshops, sites, farms and fuel depots in Bangladesh buy it by the metre or as assemblies.

A rubber hose manufacturer in Bangladesh builds to a standard for each service, and the wrong one fails early. Roptan sources from verified makers, names the standard and edition on the order, checks test records and markings, and delivers.

Kinds of rubber hose

Water hose

Textile-reinforced general-purpose hose under EN ISO 1403:2019, three types, up to 25 bar, from -25 to +70 degrees C. Not for drinking water or firefighting.

Suction and discharge hose

Smooth-bore, textile-reinforced hose for pumps under EN ISO 4641:2024, in three types by duty, for water from 0 to +70 degrees C. Choose it for dewatering and pumping.

Compressed air hose

Textile-reinforced hose under EN ISO 2398:2024, up to 25 bar, from -40 to +70 degrees C depending on type and category. Choose it for tools and site compressors.

Wire braid hydraulic hose

Six types under ISO 1436:2026, and four under the European EN 853:2026, for oil-based fluids from -40 to +100 degrees C. Choose it for machine hydraulics.

Spiral wire hydraulic hose

Five types under ISO 3862:2020, nominal sizes 6.3 to 51, for the highest hydraulic pressure classes. Choose it where braided hose would be under-rated.

Special service hose

Separate standards cover steam (EN ISO 6134), LPG and natural gas up to 25 bar (EN 1762), oil suction (EN 1765) and chemicals (EN 12115). Order these to their own standard.

What to tell a rubber hose seller

Fluid and temperature
Name the fluid and its highest and lowest temperature. Nitrile suits oil and fuel; EPDM suits heat, steam and weather but not oil.
Working pressure
Give the highest pressure the line sees, including spikes. The assembly is rated by its weakest component, which can be the fitting.
Safety factor
Minimum burst pressure divided by working pressure. It differs by service, so follow the hose standard, not one rule for all.
Size and length
Give the inside diameter or nominal size, length per coil or assembly, and the bend radius needed.
Reinforcement
Textile for water, air and low-pressure hydraulics; wire braid for higher pressure; spiral wire for the highest classes.
Electrical property
For fuel, solvent or dust, say whether the hose must be conductive or antistatic, tested to ISO 8031.
Fittings and marking
State the end fittings and the marking you need along the hose: standard, size, pressure and date.

Hose test methods to ask for

ISO 1402:2021
Hydrostatic testing of hoses and assemblies, including dimensional stability under pressure. The 2009 edition is withdrawn.
ISO 6802:2018 and ISO 6803:2017
Hydraulic impulse tests with and without flexing. Ask whether the maker runs them in house or at an outside lab.
ISO 7326:2016
Ozone resistance of hose covers, five methods. Relevant for hose left outdoors or near running motors.
ISO 8031:2020
Electrical resistance of conductive, antistatic and non-conductive hose, and continuity between metal end fittings, on a sample from your batch.
ISO 8330:2022
Hose vocabulary. Use its terms for nominal size, working pressure and burst pressure on the order.

What moves the price of a rubber hose

  • Reinforcement: wire braid and spiral wire cost more than textile; extra layers add material.
  • Polymer: nitrile, EPDM and chloroprene tubes or covers cost differently from general rubber.
  • Size and pressure class: a larger bore or higher class uses more rubber and reinforcement per metre.
  • Fittings and assembly: crimped fittings, cutting and pressure testing each assembly add cost.
  • Tests and certificates: impulse, hydrostatic and electrical tests add lab cost per batch.

Lead times and delivery

Time depends on whether your size, type and length are in stock as coils, on a less common bore or pressure class, on fittings and assembly, and on tests such as impulse testing at an outside lab. Roptan confirms the dates and minimum length in the quote.

Roptan delivers hose anywhere in Bangladesh in coils or as assemblies, each marked with size, standard and batch, with the packing list, test records and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3). Store coils shaded and away from running motors, with ends capped.

Buying rubber hoses for export

For importers Roptan quotes FOB Chattogram (Chittagong). In EPB data for FY2025-26, hose exports were almost all reinforced hose without fittings. Much rubber trade is recorded as supply into local zones. Documents include the invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, test records and the seller's ERC.

What we check for this order

  • Standard and editionWe check that marking and certificate name the standard you ordered and its edition, since ISO 1436 and EN 853 were reissued in 2026.
  • Pressure test recordsWe ask for hydrostatic test records on the batch to ISO 1402, not a type test from another batch.
  • Bore and lengthWe measure inside diameter and coil length on samples against your order.
  • Fittings ratingWe check that every fitting is rated at or above the hose's working pressure.

Questions buyers ask

Is a 4:1 safety factor right for every hose?

No. One European table gives 3:1 for water hose up to 10 bar, 4:1 for other fluids, water above 10 bar and compressed air, 5:1 for fluids that may turn to gas on a pressure drop, and 10:1 for steam hose. Follow your service standard.

My certificate cites ISO 1436:2020. Is that a problem?

Not always. ISO 1436:2026 replaced the 2020 edition in January 2026, and EN 853:2026 replaced EN 853:2015 in May 2026, so hose made earlier cites the older editions. Ask which edition the batch was tested to and name yours on the order.

Can I use water hose for drinking water?

Not general-purpose water hose to EN ISO 1403: its scope excludes drinking water, washing-machine inlets and firefighting. For drinking water, ask for hose made and certified for that use in your market, and keep the certificate with the delivery papers.

When does a hose need to be antistatic?

When it carries fuel, solvents or dust that can build up a static charge. ISO 8031 tests conductive, antistatic and non-conductive hose and the continuity between metal end fittings, so ask for that report with the batch you receive.

How soon will I hear back about rubber products?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.

Who do I deal with?

With Roptan, when Roptan manages the order: we buy from the verified seller and deliver to you. With the supplier directly, when you post on the requirement board and choose a quote yourself.
