Buying memory cards and ssds in Bangladesh

SSDs are the boot and data drives inside laptops, desktops and servers; SD and microSD cards and pen drives move and record data in cameras, CCTV recorders, phones and instruments. IT departments buy them for upgrades and spares. No memory chip or SSD production was found in Bangladesh: they arrive by import, loose or inside computers.

Flash storage is easy to fake and easy to mis-specify: a card that reports more capacity than it holds, an SSD without DRAM in a busy machine, a card too slow for the video it records. As your memory card and SSD supplier in Bangladesh, Roptan writes the interface, endurance and speed class into the order, sources from verified sellers and tests samples before delivery.

Kinds of memory card and SSD

SATA SSDs

Use the standard hard-disk form factor, so they drop into older laptops and desktops in place of a hard disk. Choose them for upgrading machines without an M.2 slot.

NVMe M.2 SSDs

Small cards on the PCI Express bus, faster than SATA. The usual choice for new laptops and desktops; check the machine has an M.2 slot that supports NVMe.

U.2 and enterprise SSDs

NVMe drives for 2.5-inch server bays, which may use more durable cells and add DRAM and power-loss protection. Choose them for databases, virtual machines and logging.

SD and microSD cards

Full-size SD for cameras and recorders, microSD for phones, dashcams and CCTV. A passive adaptor lets a microSD card work in a full-size slot.

USB pen drives

For moving files between machines. Speed depends on the port as much as the drive: USB 2.0 caps transfers at 480 Mbit/s.

How to specify a memory card or SSD

Interface and form factor
SATA 2.5-inch, M.2 SATA, M.2 NVMe or U.2. Check the slot in the target machine: an M.2 slot does not always accept NVMe.
Cell type
SLC is fastest and most durable; MLC, TLC and QLC store more per cell, cost less, and are slower and wear faster. Lower-end drives often use QLC or TLC.
Endurance
Give the terabytes written (TBW) or drive writes per day the workload needs. Light office use and CCTV, logging or databases are different purchases.
DRAM cache
Ask whether the SSD carries DRAM. Some NVMe drives skip it and borrow system memory instead, which suits light use only.
Power-loss protection
Sudden power loss can leave failed writes on an SSD. For important data in machines without UPS cover, ask for drives with capacitors that finish the write.
Card capacity class
SDHC runs to 32 GB, SDXC to 2 TB, SDUC to 128 TB. Check the device supports the class: older devices may not read larger cards without a firmware update.
Card speed class
For video, name the V class and the camera's bitrate: V30 means at least 30 MB/s sustained writing. For cards running apps, ask for the Application Performance Class.

Ratings and tests for memory cards and SSDs

SD Association capacity marks
SDHC, SDXC and SDUC are defined by the SD Association. SDXC cards come formatted exFAT, which the standard requires; check the host system reads it.
SD speed classes
Class 10, U1 and U3, and V6 to V90 state minimum sustained write speed. They describe sequential writing, so random small-file writes can be far slower.
SSD endurance rating
The datasheet gives endurance as drive writes per day or TBW, the product of the flash's program and erase cycle rating and the capacity. Compare drives on it.
Full-capacity read-back test
Fake drives report more capacity than they hold. Writing test data across the stated capacity and reading it back finds them; no certificate replaces the test.

What moves the price of memory cards and SSDs

  • Cell type: TLC is cheaper than MLC or SLC, and QLC cheaper again, at the cost of speed and endurance.
  • DRAM cache and power-loss capacitors add to the price of an SSD.
  • Endurance rating: higher TBW or drive writes per day usually means a dearer drive.
  • Interface: NVMe and U.2 drives usually cost more than SATA drives of the same capacity.
  • Cards: price follows capacity and speed class.

Lead times and delivery

Common SSD and card sizes usually supply faster than enterprise U.2 drives or a large batch of one model. Testing samples adds a short step, and customs clearance adds time. Roptan confirms dates and any minimum in the quote.

We deliver anywhere in Bangladesh in the sellers' sealed packs, with lot codes recorded. You receive the lot and model list, the read-back test record, the seller's written warranty and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3). Where the quote includes it, the seller fits drives into your machines.

What we check for this order

  • Full-capacity read-backWe write test data across the stated capacity of samples from each lot and read it back, to catch fake-capacity cards and drives.
  • Model and firmwareWe read the drive model and firmware the system reports and compare them with the quote and the datasheet.
  • DRAM and cell typeWe check the datasheet for DRAM, cell type and TBW, since low-end DRAM-less SSDs are a reported swap.
  • Sealed packs and lot codesWe keep packages sealed, record lot codes and get the seller's warranty in writing, so a swapped part can be traced.

Questions buyers ask

How do we spot a fake-capacity memory card?

Write data across the whole stated capacity and read it back. A fake card reports a large size but holds less, so files written past its real capacity are lost or overwrite earlier ones. Software tools exist for this test. We run it on samples from each lot before delivery.

Which card should we buy for CCTV or dashcams?

A microSD card whose V class covers the camera's bitrate, in a capacity class the recorder supports. Recording is sequential writing, which is what the speed class measures. Send the recorder model and bitrate, and we match the card to them.

SATA or NVMe for upgrading older laptops?

SATA if the laptop has a 2.5-inch bay or an M.2 slot that takes SATA only. NVMe if the M.2 slot supports it, for higher speed. Send the model list and we check each slot.

Can spare SSDs sit on the shelf for years?

Not safely. Flash slowly loses charge when unpowered, and heavily used consumer drives may start losing data after one to two years in storage. Power up and check spares that have sat for long.

How soon will I hear back about computers and IT equipment?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.
