Buying computer accessories and peripherals in Bangladesh

Peripherals are the devices around the computer: monitors, printers, scanners, projectors, receipt and label printers, and the UPS units and surge protectors that keep them running. Offices, banks, schools, shops and clinics buy them with the computers or as replacements. Most are imported; one Gazipur plant planned in 2018 to make monitors, keyboards and mice, and no output figures were found since.

The trouble with peripherals is in small details: a port that looks right but does not carry video, a UPS that switches too slowly, a charger that is not the original. As your computer accessory and peripheral supplier in Bangladesh, Roptan lists each item's function, sources from verified sellers, checks the details before dispatch and delivers to your offices.

Kinds of computer accessory and peripheral

Monitors

Mostly LCD panels, with IPS usual for office and design work. OLED costs more and can suffer burn-in, so avoid it for screens showing a fixed image all day.

Laser and inkjet printers

Laser printers fuse toner with heat and print each page in one continuous pass, so they suit office volume. Inkjets propel fine ink droplets onto the page and suit lower monthly volumes.

Receipt and label printers

Direct thermal printers heat coated paper and need no ink: right for short-life receipts. Thermal-transfer printers use a ribbon on plain labels and are usually chosen for labels that must stay readable for long.

Scanners

Flatbed scanners take one sheet at a time on glass. Sheet-fed scanners with a document feeder suit branches scanning stacks of paper.

Projectors

Lit by a lamp, LED or laser. The source sets lifespan and whether lamps need replacing: lamps lose brightness and are replaced, LED and laser sources last far longer.

UPS units and surge protectors

UPS units are online, line-interactive or standby. Most under 1 kVA are line-interactive or standby. A surge protector absorbs spikes but gives no backup at all.

How to specify computer accessories and peripherals

Monitor
Give the visible diagonal in inches, resolution, panel type and input ports. Two monitors of the same size can differ in resolution and connectors.
Ports by function
USB-C is only a connector shape: a port may or may not carry video, fast data or power. State what each port must do.
Printer duty
State pages per month, colour or mono, paper sizes and network connection, so the seller can choose between laser and inkjet.
Labels and receipts
Say how long a printed label must stay readable. Short-life receipts suit direct thermal; long-life labels usually need thermal transfer with a ribbon.
Projector
Give the room size and screen distance, and ask for brightness in lumens and the light source, lamp, LED or laser.
UPS type and runtime
Name the type, the load in watts and the runtime wanted at that load. Desktop UPS runtime is typically 5 to 15 minutes, enough to save work and shut down.
Surge protection
Ask for the joule rating, the energy absorbed per surge, and the clamping voltage, not the outlet count.

Safety reports and ratings for peripherals

IEC 62368-1
Safety of monitors, printers, power adaptors and similar IT equipment, replacing IEC 60950-1. Ask for the test report for the exact model and power rating.
IEC 62040
The IEC series for UPS units. Ask which part the UPS was tested to, and for the transfer time in its datasheet.
IEC 60529 IP code
Rates enclosures against dust and water. Ask for it on projectors, printers or screens placed in dusty or damp areas.
Energy Star
A voluntary US energy-efficiency label covering more than 75 product categories, electronics included. Useful evidence of power use; not a Bangladesh requirement.

What moves the price of computer accessories and peripherals

  • Panel type and resolution: OLED monitors cost more than LCD, and higher resolution adds to the price.
  • UPS type: an online unit costs much more than a line-interactive or standby unit of the same rating.
  • UPS runtime: a larger battery bank for long outages adds weight and cost.
  • Printer running cost: toner, ink, ribbons and labels over the machine's life, not only the machine.
  • Projector light source: lamp models may need replacement lamps, which LED and laser models avoid.

Lead times and delivery

Common monitors, printers and UPS units are usually quicker to supply than large batches of one model or label printers with special media. Items with a wireless function can wait for the importer's BTRC papers, and customs clearance adds time. Roptan confirms dates and any minimum in the quote.

We deliver to offices and branches anywhere in Bangladesh, often with the computers, after checking items against the model and serial list. Where the quote includes it, the seller sets up printers, projectors and UPS units on site. You receive the serial list, warranty terms and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3).

What we check for this order

  • Original adaptorsWe check each adaptor or charger matches the wattage and plug of the unit quoted, since copy chargers are a known swap.
  • Safety report for the modelWe match the IEC 62368-1 test report to the exact monitor, printer or adaptor and its power rating.
  • UPS type and transfer timeWe read the UPS datasheet for type, transfer time and runtime at your stated load.
  • Ports that do the jobWe confirm that USB-C and HDMI ports carry the video, data or power your list asks for, on a sample unit.

Questions buyers ask

Which UPS should we buy for office desktops?

A line-interactive or standby unit usually suits desktops and printers, and costs much less than an online unit. Ask for the transfer time in the datasheet: sources give anything from 5 to 25 milliseconds for standby units. Keep online units for servers and sensitive instruments.

How long will a desktop UPS run in a power cut?

Typically 5 to 15 minutes at its rated load, enough to save work and shut down. Where outages run for hours, as in parts of Bangladesh in 2026, you need a bigger battery bank or a generator behind the UPS, and runtime quoted at your real load.

Is a surge protector enough?

Not for power cuts. A surge protector absorbs voltage spikes but gives no backup power. Compare protectors on joule rating and clamping voltage, and use a UPS where work would be lost when the mains fails.

Will a USB-C laptop drive our monitors?

Only if the laptop's USB-C port carries video. USB-C names the connector shape, not what it carries, and a USB 2.0 Type-C cable carries only basic data and power. List which laptops will connect, and we check the ports and cables against them.

How soon will I hear back about computers and IT equipment?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.
