Buying sludge treatment in Bangladesh
Sludge treatment cuts the weight and volume of what a plant must carry away, and lowers the health risk of where it ends up. Most of the volume goes with the water: sludge can start at up to 99 percent water. Sewage plants and factory ETPs both need it; Dhaka WASA's Dasherkandi plant, rated at 500 MLD, dries and incinerates its sludge.
A sludge treatment supplier in Bangladesh should prove the machine on your sludge, not on a brochure figure. We take your sludge data and disposal route to verified sellers, ask for a trial or a reference on similar sludge, and write the cake target into the offer. The seller installs and commissions the equipment.
How to brief a sludge treatment supplier in Bangladesh
- Feed and load
- State the feed solids content, the daily dry solids load and whether the machine runs continuously or in batches.
- Target cake and route
- Write the target cake dry solids next to the disposal route: incineration, landfill or soil use. The route sets how dry and how stable the sludge must be.
- Plant size
- Small plants usually compost or use drying beds, mid-sized plants aerobic digestion and larger plants anaerobic digestion.
- Land
- Limited land favours digestion and mechanical dewatering over drying beds. Give the space available for the sludge line.
- Conditioning
- Ask for the polymer or other conditioning dose the seller expects, because it is a running cost and changes the cake.
- Energy assumptions
- Do not size the economics on a self-powered sludge line. Energy from digestion or incineration is often too little to dry the sludge or run the dewatering equipment.
Standards and tests for sludge treatment
- EN 12255-8:2024
- The current European part on sludge treatment and storage; the 2002 edition is withdrawn. CEN/TR 16456:2013 is a good practice guide to dewatering.
- ISO 11465:2025
- Measures the dry residue of sludge, the basis of any cake guarantee. EN 12880:2001 was withdrawn in February 2026, so update a contract that still cites it.
- ISO 5667-13:2011
- Guidance on sampling sludges. Agree the sampling point for the cake before the trial and the acceptance test.
- EN 14701-4:2018
- Measures the drainability of flocculated sludge, useful for comparing presses on the same sludge.
Lead times and delivery
No fair figure covers every sludge line. Time grows with digesters built as civil works, imported centrifuges or presses, a trial on your sludge before the order, and changes to the disposal route. A standard dewatering machine sized from a good trial moves faster. Roptan confirms dates and any minimum in the quote.
We deliver to site anywhere in Bangladesh, with heavy machines lifted onto their plinths. The seller installs and commissions the line, sets the polymer dose on your sludge and trains your operators. Handover includes the commissioning cake test, O&M manuals, wear parts list, warranties and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3).
Questions buyers ask
How dry will the dewatered sludge be?
It depends on the machine, the sludge and the conditioning. A recessed-plate filter press gives the driest cake of the machine types; a belt press or decanter centrifuge gives a wetter cake from a continuous run. The result depends on your sludge, so ask for a trial on it and write the target into the offer.
Will biogas from digestion power the sludge line?
Rarely in full. Energy from digestion or incineration is often too little to evaporate the water in the sludge or to run the blowers, pumps and centrifuges. Count biogas as a saving on part of the energy, not as a self-powered plant.
Belt press, centrifuge or filter press?
A belt press or decanter centrifuge runs continuously. A filter press gives drier cake but runs in batches with more handling, which is one reason it is more common in industry than in municipal plants. Sludge type, the end product you need and space decide it.
Where can treated sludge go?
The usual routes are incineration, landfill or use as a soil amendment after stabilisation. Clear the route with the Department of Environment before you specify, because each route needs a different dryness and stability.
How soon will I hear back about wastewater treatment plant?
Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the capacity, where it is needed and by when.
Who do I deal with?
With Roptan, when Roptan manages the order: we buy from the verified seller and deliver to you. With the supplier directly, when you post on the requirement board and choose a quote yourself.
