Buying PVC sandals in Bangladesh
PVC sandals belong to the family of jelly shoes: injection-moulded footwear made of PVC plastic in many colours, often with glitter in the material. Melted compound fills the mould, so the straps and sole can come out as one piece. PVC-injected shoes began after the Second World War as fishermen's shoes, valued for their low price and ease of cleaning.
Roptan matches your style to a verified PVC sandal manufacturer in Bangladesh and puts quotes on the same compound, weight per pair and packing. We get the plasticiser named before moulding, approve a fit pair in each size and arrange lab tests on every colour.
How to specify a PVC sandal
- Compound and plasticiser
- PVC for footwear is resin plus plasticiser, and the plasticiser share sets softness. Ask the seller to name the plasticiser, or declare the compound phthalate-free, in writing.
- Hardness
- Shore A to ISO 868, with the dwell time and sample thickness stated, measured on bulk pairs with a tolerance.
- Weight per pair
- PVC is dense: very flexible PVC has a specific gravity of about 1.17, against about 0.15 g/cm³ for EVA foam. State weight per pair in a named size with a tolerance.
- Fit and sizes
- PVC does not stretch to the foot, and a moulded sandal cannot be adjusted afterwards. Approve a fit sample in each size, not only the middle size.
- Colour and finish
- Clear, solid or glitter for each colour, against a physical sample.
- Cartons
- No anti-mould sachets: for PVC sandals the dimethyl fumarate risk is the packing, not the compound.
Chemical limits that decide a PVC sandal
- REACH Annex XVII entry 51
- Limits DEHP, DBP, BBP and DIBP to 0.1 percent of the plasticised material, PVC first among them. The open-air exemption fails for a strap or footbed in prolonged skin contact.
- REACH Annex XVII entries 23, 50 and 72
- Cadmium below 0.01 percent of the plastic; each listed PAH at 1 mg/kg per component; and for consumer footwear, further phthalates at 1,000 mg/kg plus lead and cadmium limits.
- ISO 16181-1 and ISO 16181-2 (2021)
- Footwear phthalate tests. The report should name the method, style, colour and parts sampled.
- What does not apply
- REACH entry 52 (DINP, DIDP, DNOP) covers toys and childcare articles, not footwear. The US phthalate rule, 16 CFR 1307, covers toys and child care articles and does not name footwear.
Lead times and delivery
A style on moulds the maker already holds moves faster than one that needs a mould cut for each size. Each new colour or finish adds a compound batch, and every colour waits for its lab report; a failed phthalate result means a new batch. Roptan confirms the dates and the minimum per style and colour in the quote.
Inside Bangladesh we deliver to your shop, warehouse or distributor, pairs packed by size and colour in labelled cartons, with the packing list, plasticiser declaration, lab reports and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3). We check that each carton holds the sizes and colours on the list.
Buying PVC sandals for export
PVC sandals fall under customs heading 6402, whose lines mix every rubber and plastic style, so there is no separate export figure for them. EU countries take most of Bangladesh's exports in the largest of those lines, so REACH decides what a PVC sandal must pass. We quote FOB Chattogram (Chittagong), with the certificate of origin, a REX statement for EU GSP and lab reports per colour.
Questions buyers ask
Must a PVC sandal for Europe be phthalate-free?
Not entirely, but the limits are tight. DEHP, DBP, BBP and DIBP are limited to 0.1 percent of the plasticised material, and further reprotoxic phthalates to 1,000 mg/kg in consumer footwear. Buyers may add DINP and others to their own lists. Have the plasticiser declared and tested.
Does the US phthalate rule cover PVC sandals?
No. 16 CFR 1307 limits eight phthalates in children's toys and child care articles, and it does not name footwear. A children's sandal is still a children's product under the US lead rule, so test it for lead in every part. Your own list may add phthalates.
Can you source clear or glitter PVC sandals?
Yes. Jelly sandals are often made in clear compound or with glitter mixed in. Each colour and finish is a separate compound batch, so approve each one on a sample and have each tested for phthalates and metals before bulk.
Can a PVC sandal be made softer?
Yes, softness comes from the plasticiser share. A softer compound means more plasticiser, so name the plasticiser and test each colour. State the target in Shore A to ISO 868 with a tolerance, and approve it on a pre-production pair.
How soon will I hear back about rubber and plastic footwear?
Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.
