Buying promotional jute bags in Bangladesh
Promotional jute bags are bags printed with a logo or message and handed out at events, shops and conferences, or given as corporate gifts. Open totes are the usual format in listings, with drawstring pouches and small gift bags beside them. In Bangladesh, the Jute Diversification Promotion Centre (JDPC) holds fairs and buyer-seller meetings for makers of diversified jute goods and lists bags among its products.
On a promotional run the print is the product. As your promotional jute bag supplier in Bangladesh, Roptan sources from verified makers, fixes print area, colours and ink in the order, approves a strike-off on the cloth lot that will be used, and checks print, count and packing.
What to send a promotional jute bag supplier in Bangladesh
- Artwork and placement
- Artwork file type, print size and position, number of colours, and where the print sits against the gusset fold, so it is not cut by a seam.
- Decoration method
- Screen print, heat transfer or faux embroidery; areas differ. One listing gives 250 x 240 mm for screen print on an 11-litre tote and 200 x 250 mm for the others.
- Ink
- Plastisol is opaque, holds detail and cures with heat at about 150 °C, but is plastic-based. Water-based ink soaks into the fibre and feels softer.
- Shade
- Jute's natural colour can vary between batches, so a logo shifts with the cloth. Approve the strike-off on the lot that will be printed.
- Base bag
- Cloth weight, size, gusset and handles still need stating: stock promotional totes are usually listed at about 270 to 320 g/m².
Tests and rules for printed promotional bags
- ISO 105-X12 and ISO 105-B02
- Colour fastness of the print to rubbing and to artificial light. Set the pass grade in the order: we found no neutral grade for printed jute.
- EN ISO 14362-1 and REACH
- The method that detects azo colourants. REACH Annex XVII, entry 43, bans those releasing listed amines above 30 mg/kg in textile articles in long skin contact. Test dyed handles and inks per colour.
- Regulation (EU) 2023/988
- EU product safety, applying since 13 December 2024. It counts products supplied free of charge in a business, so giveaways usually need an EU operator, maker details and a batch number.
- Directive (EU) 2024/825
- From 27 September 2026 generic claims such as "eco-friendly" or "biodegradable" are barred in the EU without recognised proof, including those printed on the bag itself.
Lead times and delivery
Printing starts only after the artwork and the strike-off on the cloth lot are approved. A stock tote in one colour usually moves sooner than a custom size, extra colours, embroidery or a new shade match, and lab tests add days. Roptan confirms the dates and the minimum per design in the quote; tell us your event date.
Promotional bags usually travel folded flat in cartons, counted against the packing list. Individual poly bags add plastic and cost; ask for them only if needed. Inside Bangladesh we deliver to your office, venue or warehouse with any lab reports ordered and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3).
Buying promotional jute bags for export
Printed jute totes usually enter under HS heading 4202, which names shopping bags; your broker confirms the line. For the EU, an operator based in the Union must be named, which can be your importer, so send its details to print on the bag or carton. Roptan quotes FOB Chattogram and confirms duty and origin papers per shipment.
Questions buyers ask
Can we print "eco-friendly" on promotional jute bags for Europe?
Not on its own: from 27 September 2026 the EU bars generic environmental claims without recognised proof. Print specific facts, such as jute body, cotton handles, water-based ink. Lamination, plastisol print or a PVC window adds plastic, so claim only what you can prove.
Does a free giveaway bag need EU product safety details?
Usually yes: the EU product safety regulation counts products supplied free of charge in the course of a business. The bag, its packaging or a document needs an EU-based operator, the maker's name and postal and electronic address, and a batch or type number, which your importer supplies.
Will our brand colour match exactly on jute?
Not exactly. Jute's natural colour runs from off-white to brown and can vary between batches, so one ink looks different on two lots. Send a physical colour standard and approve a strike-off on the cloth lot that will carry the run.
How much detail can a jute bag print hold?
Not much fine detail. Each colour needs its own screen, and a finer mesh holds finer detail, but hessian is coarse, so thin lines and small type can blur. Keep lines bold and text large, and judge the result on the strike-off.
How soon will I hear back about jute bags?
Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.
Who do I deal with?
With Roptan, when Roptan manages the order: we buy from the verified seller and deliver to you. With the supplier directly, when you post on the requirement board and choose a quote yourself.
