Buying LT switchgear panels in Bangladesh

An LT switchgear panel is the low-voltage assembly, below 1 kV AC, that takes power from the transformer and feeds it out to the building or plant. It holds the breakers, busbars, current transformers, meters and relays that control, protect and isolate each circuit. Factories, high-rise developers, hospitals and contractors in Bangladesh order them for every new substation.

Two panels with the same incomer rating can differ in fault rating, separation and breakers. Roptan takes your single-line diagram to a verified LT switchgear panel manufacturer in Bangladesh, has every quote priced to the same schedule, then checks the build and the interlocks before delivery. Or post the job on our requirement board.

Kinds of LT switchgear panel

Fixed-pattern main boards

Breakers bolted in place with ordinary fasteners. Choose them where a planned shutdown for maintenance is acceptable on every way.

Draw-out main boards

Incomers and main feeders on draw-out elements, removable without many tools. Choose them where a breaker must be swapped or tested quickly.

Segregated boards, Form 3 or 4

Functional units separated from each other and, in Form 4b, terminals for outgoing cables separated too. Choose them where staff work on one feeder while others stay live.

Sub-distribution boards

Boards of miniature breakers on DIN rail for final circuits on each floor or line. Each has a fixed trip, so a new load means a new breaker.

Two-source changeover boards

Boards fed from two supplies, such as the grid and a generator, with trapped-key or mechanical interlocks so only one can be connected at a time.

How to brief an LT switchgear panel manufacturer in Bangladesh

Fault level
State the prospective short-circuit current at the board in kA. Busbars and every breaker must be rated to interrupt or withstand it.
Incomers and couplers
Give the rated current of each incomer and bus coupler and how each is operated: manual, motor or stored energy, or solenoid.
Form of separation
Name the IEC form, from Form 1, no separation, to Form 4b. A higher form usually costs more and leaves fewer live parts exposed during maintenance.
Breaker schedule
For each outgoing way: breaker type, rated current, poles and, for miniature breakers, the trip curve letter; for larger breakers, the trip setting range.
Metering and protection
List meters, current transformers and relays. Loads above about 200 A are usually metered through CTs, so give the ratios and classes.
Shock protection and site
State class I or class II construction, the room, cable entry from top or bottom, and the dust and damp the enclosure must keep out.

Standards to cite for an LT switchgear panel

IEC 61439-1 (2020 edition)
General rules for low-voltage assemblies. The 2020 edition added a group rated current for circuits in a loaded assembly and class I and class II assemblies.
IEC 61439-2 (2020 edition)
Power switchgear assemblies up to 1,000 V AC or 1,500 V DC. It clarified the forms of internal separation and the options for temperature-rise verification.
IEC 60898-1
Miniature breakers for final circuits. It defines rated current as the current a breaker carries continuously, shown on the label after the trip curve letter.
IEC 60947-2 (2024 edition)
Low-voltage industrial breakers up to 1,000 V AC or 1,500 V DC, such as moulded-case and air types. The 2024 edition replaced the 2016 one, so ask which edition the breaker test reports cite.

What moves the price of an LT switchgear panel

  • Fault rating: busbars and breakers rated for a higher fault level usually cost more than those rated for a lower one.
  • Form of separation: a higher form usually costs more, since it adds barriers and compartments.
  • Breakers: adjustable-trip air breakers, draw-out elements and motor operators usually cost more than fixed, fixed-trip units.
  • Metering and relays: CTs, meters and protection relays on each feeder add parts and wiring.
  • Size and busbar current: a larger incomer and more outgoing ways add copper, steel and floor space.

Lead times and delivery

We give no standard figure. The build usually starts once you approve the drawings, so quick answers save time. Breaker availability, a high form of separation, draw-out or motor-operated incomers and witnessed checks usually make it longer. Roptan confirms the dates and any minimum in the quote.

We deliver in shipping sections anywhere in Bangladesh, with the door width and lifting route checked first. The seller installs, connects and commissions it and tries each interlock with you present. You receive the as-built drawings, breaker schedule, verification records and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3). If a transformer is in the same job, order both together.

Buying LT switchgear panels for export

LT switchgear panels fall under HS 853710, boards with two or more switching or protective devices for voltage up to 1,000 V, a line that also covers other control and distribution boards. Importers get a quote FOB Chattogram with drawings, packing list, certificate of origin and test records. Your customs broker confirms the line.

What we check for this order

  • Fault ratingWe check that busbars and every breaker carry a rating at or above the fault level on your single-line diagram.
  • Breaker scheduleWe check type, rated current, poles, curve letter and trip settings of each breaker against the approved schedule.
  • Form and wiringWe check the separation matches the form ordered and that wiring and labels follow the drawings.
  • InterlocksWe have every interlock and changeover sequence tried before acceptance, so two supplies cannot close together.

Questions buyers ask

Which form of separation do we need?

It depends on how you maintain the board: Form 1 has no separation; Form 3 and 4 separate the functional units, and Form 4b also separates the outgoing cable terminals. A higher form usually costs more but keeps more live parts out of reach when one feeder is worked on.

Fixed or draw-out breakers?

Fixed breakers are bolted in, so removing one means a shutdown of that section. Draw-out elements come out without many tools, so a faulty incomer can be swapped or tested with less downtime. You can mix them: draw-out on incomers and main feeders, fixed on smaller ways.

What kA rating should the panel have?

At least the prospective short-circuit current where the panel sits. Your consultant calculates it for the point where the board sits. The busbars and every breaker must be rated for it, not just the incomer.

Can one board take both the grid and a generator?

Yes, through a changeover with interlocks. Trapped-key or mechanical interlocking allows only one source to connect at a time, so the generator cannot feed back into the grid. List the sequence in the quote and try it before acceptance.

How soon will I hear back about transformers and switchgear?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.

Who do I deal with?

With Roptan, when Roptan manages the order: we buy from the verified seller and deliver to you. With the supplier directly, when you post on the requirement board and choose a quote yourself.
