Buying construction equipment and machinery in Bangladesh

Contractors, developers, road builders, ready-mix plants and block makers buy construction machinery for building, road and embankment work in Dhaka, Chattogram, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Sylhet and Khulna. Excavators move earth, batching plants make concrete, rollers compact roads, and scaffolding and props carry formwork. Block and brick machines serve the move from fired clay bricks toward concrete blocks in public building work.

A construction equipment supplier in Bangladesh often quotes a model and a price; what you need is a machine sized for your output, site and power supply. Tell us the job, the output per day and new or used. We turn it into one specification, source from verified sellers, check documents and condition, and deliver. The seller commissions plants and trains operators. You deal with Roptan only.

Construction equipment and machinery we source

Excavators and loaders

Excavators dig and load trucks; wheel loaders and backhoe loaders move and load loose material. Tracked machines spread their weight for soft, wet ground; wheeled machines travel faster between sites by road. State bucket size, operating weight and new or used.

Concrete mixers and batching plants

A drum mixer serves a small site. A batching plant weighs cement, aggregate, water and admixture for every batch and suits ready-mix supply and large projects. Size it in cubic metres per hour and say whether it is stationary or mobile.

Concrete block machines

Hydraulic or vibration press machines make hollow and solid concrete blocks, for example 390 x 190 x 100 mm, and pavers or kerbs with other moulds. State blocks per shift, the moulds you need and the space you have for curing.

Auto brick making machines

Automatic lines either press unfired bricks from cement, sand and aggregate, or extrude clay bricks for firing in a kiln. Say which you make, the brick size, output per hour and how material is fed and stacked.

Scaffolding and props

Tube and coupler scaffolds, prefabricated system and frame scaffolds, and adjustable steel props for slabs and formwork. Bought by the piece or by weight. Ask which EN standard each item is tested to, and check the galvanising or paint.

Road rollers and compactors

Single drum vibratory rollers compact soil and sub-base, tandem rollers finish asphalt, and pneumatic rollers knead the surface. Plate compactors and rammers work in trenches and small areas. State operating weight, drum width and the layer you compact.

What to tell a construction equipment supplier in Bangladesh

The job and the output
Say what the machine does and how much: cubic metres of earth a day, concrete per hour, blocks per shift or square metres of scaffold.
New, used or reconditioned
Used machines are widely sold. Ask for year of manufacture, running hours, photos, a test run and the import papers, and state in the quote what condition you accept.
Site ground and access
Soft soil, filled plots and narrow Dhaka streets limit machine size and weight. Give the access width, any bridge or road limits and the ground where the machine stands.
Power and fuel
Batching plants and block machines run on three phase 50 Hz or a diesel generator. State the supply you have and the backup during load shedding.
Moulds, attachments and spares
Block moulds, buckets, breaker hammers and wear parts. List them in the quote, with a first set of spares for the machine.
Rain and storage
Most rain falls from June to September. Plan earthworks and commissioning around it, and keep control panels, motors and cement handling under cover.
Scaffold height and loads
State the height, the working load on each platform and whether the scaffold is sheeted. Sheeting and coastal winds raise the loads on ties and bracing.

Rules, standards and papers for site equipment

Brick Kilns Act 2013 and the block target
The Brick Manufacturing and Brick Kilns Establishment (Control) Act 2013, amended in 2019, and a 2019 circular set a phased target for hollow and concrete blocks in public building work. It is a target, not a ban on fired bricks.
EN scaffold and prop standards
EN 12811-1 covers scaffold performance and design, EN 12810-1 facade scaffolds of prefabricated parts, EN 74-1 couplers and EN 1065 adjustable steel props. Ask for the test report for each item.
Bangladesh Labour Act 2006
Section 68 requires cranes and lifting machinery to be examined by a competent person at least every 12 months, and section 76 lets an inspector order strength tests of dangerous machinery.
BNBC 2020
The Bangladesh National Building Code 2020, gazetted in February 2021, applies to building construction nationwide. Your engineer sets what scaffolds and temporary works on the site must meet.
CE marking for imported machines
Machines built for the European market carry a CE declaration of conformity under the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. Ask for it with the operating manual.

What moves the price of construction equipment

  • Size and output: operating weight, bucket size, plant capacity and blocks per shift set the base price.
  • New against used: age, running hours and the state of engine, hydraulics and undercarriage set the price of a used machine.
  • Origin: European, Japanese, Korean, Chinese or Indian machines differ in price, resale value and parts supply.
  • Automation: automatic feeding, weighing and stacking cost more and cut manual handling per block or batch.
  • Moulds, attachments and spares: extra moulds, buckets and a first spares kit are often priced separately.
  • Transport and erection: low-bed transport, plant foundations, erection and operator training add to the machine price.

Lead times and delivery

Delivery depends on whether the machine is in stock in Bangladesh, made to order or imported, and imports add shipping and customs clearance at Chattogram. Batching plants and automatic block and brick lines also need foundations and erection on site before trial runs. We do not quote a standard lead time: Roptan confirms dates and any minimum quantity for each order in the quote.

We deliver across Bangladesh, by low-bed trailer for heavy machines. The seller erects batching plants and block lines, runs the first batches with you and trains operators. You receive the manuals, the spare parts list, the commissioning record, import papers for imported machines, the warranty and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3). Scaffolding arrives with a piece count checked against the delivery note.

What we check for this order

  • Trade licence and source of the machineA current trade licence in the quoted name, and where the machine comes from: local stock, import to order or a used import.
  • Condition report for used machinesYear, running hours, photos and a test run of engine and hydraulics, so the machine matches what the quote describes.
  • A test report per lot of scaffoldingTest reports for each lot of couplers, frames and props with the EN standard named, not one certificate for every delivery.
  • A delivery schedule agreedDates for delivery, erection and trial runs fixed in the quote, not after it.

Questions buyers ask

Are fired bricks banned in Bangladesh?

No. The Brick Kilns Act 2013, amended in 2019, controls brick kilns, and a 2019 government circular set phased targets for hollow and concrete blocks in public building construction, rising to 100 percent by 2024-25. Reports say those targets were missed. The rule is a target for public projects, not a ban on fired bricks.

Should I buy a new or a used excavator?

A used machine costs less up front but carries more risk on engine, hydraulics and undercarriage, so ask for the year, running hours, a test run and the import papers. A new machine comes with a maker's warranty and known parts supply. Tell us the hours you expect to run each year and we compare both.

What size of concrete block machine do I need?

Start from the blocks you must make per day and their sizes, for example hollow blocks of 390 x 190 x 100 mm. Then match the mixer, curing space and power. Strength depends on the mix and aggregate, so ask for a compression test report from an accredited lab on blocks from the machine.

Can you supply scaffolding by weight or by piece?

Either. Give the facade length and height, the working load and whether the scaffold is sheeted, and the seller works out the pieces. Tube and coupler sets may be priced by weight and system scaffolds by piece. Ask for test reports to EN 74-1 for couplers and EN 1065 for props.

Who commissions a batching plant?

The seller erects the plant on your foundation, calibrates the weighing of cement, aggregate, water and admixture, runs trial batches and trains your operators. Ask for the calibration record and a wear parts list. Your engineer approves the mix design and test cubes.

How soon will I hear back about construction equipment and machinery?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.

Who do I deal with?

With Roptan, when Roptan manages the order: we buy from the verified seller and deliver to you. With the supplier directly, when you post on the requirement board and choose a quote yourself.
