Buying male mannequins in Bangladesh
A male mannequin is a full-size figure for showing menswear: suits, shirts, denim and sportswear. It is usually a rigid shell in fibreglass or plastic. In Bangladesh it stands in menswear stores and, typically, in garment factory showrooms where exporters show samples to visiting buyers. Importers abroad buy male figures on the same customs line as tailors' dummies.
Menswear asks different things of a figure: jackets must go on over the shoulders, trousers need a true inside leg, and sports poses shift weight off the base. A male mannequin manufacturer in Bangladesh should be briefed on all three. Roptan writes the pose and measurements into the order and has the sample dressed before bulk.
How to brief a male mannequin manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Body measurements
- Chest, waist, hip, height and inside leg in cm, to a stated method such as ISO 8559-1. Size labels differ between brands, so never order by letter.
- Shoulders and arms
- Ask for arms that come off at the shoulder, so jackets and coats go on without force, and check it on the sample.
- Pose and balance
- For sports poses, state the base and the calf or foot rod, and ask to see the dressed figure stand without tipping.
- Material
- Fibreglass for a painted, detailed figure; plastic for floors where figures are moved and dressed daily. Ask for the weight per figure.
- Finish and colour
- Matt or gloss and the colour against an approved panel. A US buyer may name the tape test ASTM D3359 in place of the ISO 2409 cross-cut.
- Base
- A toughened glass base with the seller's test report, or a steel plate: say which, and the rod height.
Tests and papers for male mannequins
- ISO 8559-1
- Defines how each body measurement is taken. Name it on your chart so the maker measures chest, waist and leg the way your pattern room does.
- ASTM D3359 tape test
- Rates paint adhesion by tape on a 0 to 5 scale and is limited to lower adhesion levels. Use it when a US buyer's specification asks for it.
- ISTA 1A or 2A
- Transit tests for packages of 68 kg or less: 1A a basic integrity test, 2A a fuller partial simulation. A carton of one or two figures falls inside that weight.
- ISO 9001
- A certificate for the seller's quality system, not a product test; the 2026 edition is now current. Check that its scope covers display figures.
Lead times and delivery
Roptan gives no standard figure here, because the date turns on the moulds. A stock pose, size and colour is usually quickest. A new sculpt, a sports pose made to order and a matched brand colour all make it longer; ask how long resin and paint cure before packing. Roptan confirms the sample date, the bulk date and the minimum in the quote.
We deliver male figures to menswear stores, malls and factory showrooms anywhere in Bangladesh, one per carton, with rods, bases and spare hands bagged inside. Each delivery carries the packing list and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3); check figures for chips and cracks on arrival.
Buying male mannequins for export
Male figures usually enter under HS heading 9618, tailors' dummies and other lay figures; your customs broker confirms the full code. EPB data show about 10.43 million US dollars exported on that heading in FY2025-26, most of it to the United States and Japan, though the line also covers animated displays. Quotes are FOB Chattogram, with an inspection to ISO 2859-1 before loading.
Questions buyers ask
Can a male mannequin wear a fitted suit jacket?
Yes, if the arms come off at the shoulder and the chest and shoulders match the size the jacket is cut for. We try one of your jackets on the sample before bulk: a figure a size large strains the cloth, one a size small lets it hang.
Which pose suits activewear?
An athletic pose, running, stretching or mid-action, shows how sportswear moves. These poses shift weight away from the centre, so ask for a heavier base and a firm rod, and check the dressed figure stands on its own.
Should I choose a headless male mannequin?
For suits, shirts and formal wear, often yes. Headless figures need no hair or make-up, so they usually cost less, and the eye goes to the collar and tie. For windows built around a look, a realistic head gives more character.
Do you have a standard men's size chart?
No. We know of no standard size chart for display figures, and size labels differ between brands and countries. Send your own chart, with chest, waist, hip, height and inside leg in centimetres, or a sample garment, and approve a sample before bulk.
How soon will I hear back about mannequins and display?
Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.
