Buying comber noil in Bangladesh

Comber noil is the short fibre a spinning mill combs out of cotton before spinning combed yarn, with neps and some foreign matter in it, so it is not pure fibre. It is normally spun into very coarse counts on rotor frames, and sellers also list absorbent and surgical cotton, paper and hygiene products among its uses.

Noil is usually sold lot by lot rather than to a standard grade, so a comber noil exporter in Bangladesh should sell against a test report. Roptan sources from verified sellers, puts fibre length, micronaire, colour and trash in writing, checks each lot before it moves, then ships or delivers. You deal with Roptan only.

Kinds of comber noil

White noil

Clean, white cotton noil. Sellers list white grades for absorbent and surgical cotton and hygiene products as well as open-end yarn. Set limits on neps and trash as well as colour.

Off-white, cream and grey noil

Noil sold as off-white, raw white, cream or natural grey. Sellers list these for yarn, and some off-white lots for surgical cotton and paper, so judge each against a reference sample for your end use.

Cotton-polyester noil

Sellers also list noil in a cotton-polyester composition. Choose it only if your yarn or product takes a blend, and have the polyester share tested rather than taken from the label.

What to ask a comber noil exporter in Bangladesh for

Fibre length
Measured staple length on a test report. Sellers in India's home market quote about 20 to 27 mm, but those are seller figures, not a norm, and noil varies by mill.
Micronaire
Measured on the same report. Sellers in India's home market quote about 2.5 to 4.2; set the range your process needs.
Short fibre, neps and trash
Fibres under about 12.5 mm usually add little to yarn strength, which is why combing removes them. Set limits on neps and trash to suit your end use.
Colour
White, off-white, raw white, cream or natural grey, judged against a reference sample rather than the grade word alone.
Composition
100 percent cotton or a stated cotton-polyester share, tested on bales from your lot.
Weight and moisture
A moisture basis for net weight, with ISO 6741-1 named in the contract if weight is to be corrected for moisture.

Tests and rules for comber noil

HVI fibre test report
An instrument line that measures cotton fibre properties such as length and micronaire, and gives data on cotton waste too. Ask for the report on samples from your lot.
ISO 6741-1
Converts the weighed mass of a fibre or yarn consignment into commercial mass. Noil is fibre, so it is within scope.
ISO 1833-11
The sulphuric acid test for cotton blended with certain other fibres, such as polyester; use it for a cotton-polyester noil.
UN 1365
Cotton, wet: listed by the UN as class 4.2 dangerous goods because it can self-heat, so noil should be dry when baled and loaded.

What moves the price of comber noil

  • Colour grade and cleanliness, judged against a reference sample for your end use.
  • Fibre length, micronaire and neps on the test report, which decide whether a lot suits the buyer's process.
  • Composition: pure cotton noil or a cotton-polyester mix, settled by a lab test.
  • Supply: noil comes only from mills spinning combed yarn, and each sets its own noil removal.
  • Any minimum export value or duty in force on cotton waste, which Roptan confirms before quoting.

Lead times and delivery

Noil supply follows the output of mills spinning combed yarn, and each mill sets its own noil removal, so a lot of one colour and fibre length can take time to gather. A fibre test report on the lot adds time before loading. Roptan quotes no standard figure and puts confirmed dates and any minimum in its quote.

Inside Bangladesh we deliver pressed bales, kept dry and covered, to your rotor spinning mill or absorbent cotton plant, with the packing list by bale, the fibre test report and a VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3).

Buying comber noil for export

We quote FOB Chattogram. Cotton waste is neither prohibited nor conditional under Bangladesh's Export Policy 2024-27, and the shipping exporter must hold a valid ERC from the CCI&E. Your customs broker confirms the tariff line for noil before booking, and your country's import permits apply on top. Roptan confirms any minimum export value or duty in force before quoting.

What we check for this order

  • Fibre report on the lotLength, micronaire, neps and trash measured on samples from your lot, not taken from a seller's standard sheet.
  • Colour against referenceColour checked against your approved sample on opened bales, since grade words such as cream or raw white are not a standard.
  • Source mill on fileThe seller names the spinning mill behind each lot, so the lot traces back to combing and the declared goods match the bales.
  • Dry at loadingBales checked for damp before loading and kept under cover, because wet cotton is a self-heating hazard in a container.

Questions buyers ask

Is comber noil the same as combed cotton?

No. Combing takes the short fibre out of cotton so the mill can spin combed yarn from better-aligned fibre; the noil is the short fibre removed, with some neps and foreign matter. It is a by-product of combing, and your customs broker confirms the tariff line for it before booking.

How much noil does a mill remove?

There is no fixed figure. Each mill sets noil removal for its cotton mix and target yarn, and a higher percentage does not always mean better yarn. For a buyer this means noil varies lot by lot, so judge each lot on its test report rather than on the mill's name.

Which fibre tests should I ask for on noil?

An HVI fibre report on samples from your lot: length, micronaire, neps and trash, plus quality indexes such as a fibre quality index or spinning consistency index if your mill uses them. There is usually no standard grade for comber noil, so this report, checked against your limits, is the specification.

Can comber noil count as recycled content?

Not verified. Whether noil counts as pre-consumer recycled content under GRS or RCS is for your certifier to decide. With both being replaced by the Materials Matter Standard from 31 December 2026, settle the claim with your certifier before you buy.

How soon will I hear back about textile waste and rags?

Within 48 hours of a complete requirement, with a price and a delivery date. A requirement is complete when it has the quantity, where it is needed and by when.
